What's your favorite band?
Or who's your favorite musician? I'm surprised there isn't already thread like this made.
I'll start. I love The Strokes, and Animal Collective, and BMSR, Tobacco, and satanstompingcaterpillars.
High five to anyone who's even heard of the last four bands/musicians.

Re: What's your favorite band?
My favourite band is Nirvana, always has been and always will been. I went as far as getting the Nirvana smiley tattooed onto my calf.
Other then that, bands like Pink Floyd, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Maximo Park, Artie Shaw (which I get a lot of odd looks about) and Slipknot (who I am going to see this Monday) are some of my favourites.
But no one comes close to Nirvana in my eyes.

Re: What's your favorite band?
I listened to Nirvana for a while, but I've since gone to different bands. Right now the big one for me is Weezer, and I listen to some Smashmouth and Weird Al. It all depends on my mood for the day, I'm in a Weezer mood a lot more than the other two.

Depends on a mood. It's Midnight Oil lately.

Depends really, it all depends on my mood. The Smiths, The Cure, Pulp and The National are some of my favourites though...

It'd be a pretty tight competition between Led Zeppelin and Skrillex. I know right?

Iron Maiden. No matter how many times I have listened to their songs, I never get tired of them.

Speaking of the Trooper, the random break at about 5 minutes in always makes my day. Is there anything Iron Maiden can't fit into?
Nope. Nope, there isn't.

Re: What's your favorite band?
I would in the past have what I would call my 'favourite band' simply because I listened to them more than anything else, meaning I went through stages of 'Radiohead iz teh bestest band evar!!!' followed by the same thing but replace Radiohead with Daft Punk, The National, etc. I've since then given up on the idea as I'll never have a favourite band due to me only listening to one music style for a month or two then giving it up and moving on. My favourite right now if I used my old definition would probably be Skrillex but I think that'll change soon as well.

I'm a big fan of Soundgarden, Primus, The Stooges, Beastie Boys, Dead Kennedys, Van Halen and Joe Satriani.
But my favourite band is definitely Rage Against the Machine.

Re: What's your favorite band?
Soundgarden is my favorite band as of late.
Chris Cornell is an awesome singer, though I will admit Eddie Vedder has more talent. I love Kim Thayil's style, I'd definitely wanna emulate him if I were to practice grunge mainly.

Re: What's your favorite band?
Bullet for my Valentine, Disturbed, Nirvana, Rammstein, and Steel Panther would be my all time favs.
I also listen to Godsmack, Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, old Linkin Park, AC/DC, Breaking Benjamin, Killswitch Engage, Michael Jackson, Ozzy, Red Hot Chilli Peppers..... yeah mostly Metal, but a lil bit of pretty much every genre.

Re: What's your favorite band?
I could name one band, but then would be ridden with guilt for not choosing others. I do most of my rocking out to Gojira, Red Fang, Lamb of God and Turbonegro. But enjoy older things like Motley Crue, Iron Maiden and Motorhead.

Re: What's your favorite band?
My best attempt to order them:
1. The Smashing Pumpkins
2. Either Tool or Rage Against The Machine
3. The loser of the second place battle.
4. A battle between Nirvana, Led Zeppelin and The White Stripes

Re: What's your favorite band?
I'm a musical polygamist - I don't fall out of love with my "old" favourite band when I find a new one. So, from the top:
1. Janis Joplin - my first musical love, I think I was around 7 years old...
2. Metallica (up to the Black Album) - heard "Master of Puppets" when I was 12 or 13 and it blew my mind. 1999 show in Warsaw was the first big concert I've ever been to.
3. Pearl Jam - I went to see them in 2000 without knowing much of their music and heard "Black" for the very first time standing 15 meters from the stage. I still get the chills when I hear that song.
4. Frank Turner - if Bob Dylan in his early youth had been a fan of Black Flag, that's what he'd play.
And you've got to love a guy who plays shows for thousands of people (he headlined Wembley last week) and still agrees to come play in a tiny club in Poland. And stays to get drunk with you and your friends after the gig.
Oh, and starting from around 1998 there's a lot of old punk in the background. None of those bands has ever been "the one", but they are really important to me too.
