Re: What was your first?
Technically, the first I played was Oblivion, on my friend's Xbox. The first game that I owned, though, was Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition, which I bought ecstatically only a week later. Morrowind is still probably my favorite Elder Scrolls game... but Skyrim kicks butt as well.

Re: What was your first?
Crikey, am I the only one who started with Daggerfall? My solo vote seems to say so. Say it ain't so!
Absolutely loved it even though I never managed to complete the main quest, too many distractions! And randomised dungeons needed clearing, and there was always some interesting sounding place I hadn't been, and, and ...
Grabbed Morrowind as soon as it came out, same with Oblivion, same with Skyrim.
And I've still got the original Daggerfall boxed set on my shelf. Of course the graphics totally suck now compared to the new stuff, but, hey, back then they were amazing!

Morrowind. It was and probably always will be my favourite, although Skyrim comes very close. But it can't give me the homely feeling of the first TES-country I ever explored.

Re: What was your first?
Morrowind. I got it after I saw my bestfriend play it.
I was young and didn't really understand it. Didn't even know there were quests. I just traveled around, killing, robbing, etc.
Then a couple of years ago I bought the GOTY version (after playing Oblivion) and played it properly.
Still one of my favorite games ever.

Re: What was your first?
I actually bought Morrowind because I couldn't find Oblivion anywhere.
Me: "So, how did you get this rich?"
Random Jarl: "I'm the Jarl and so were my father, grandfather, and his father. How about you?"
Me: "I've just spent some days chopping wood."

Re: What was your first?
I started with Oblivion, although I hated the main quest and never completed it the oblivion realms were all to similar for my tastes. Loved the guild quest lines. I gave Morrowind a try (XBOX) but just couldn't get to grips with it. After that I could quite easily have given up on TES. Played Fallout 3 and was desperate for Bethesda next offering. Over 400 hours since release day and I'm still playing SKyrim, although I took a sabtical last week to play Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. I am back playing my Dunmer Mage now.

Re: What was your first?
Would you look at that? I'm the only one yet who started with Arena. I'm not even an old fan, even though I've watched gameplay of Morrowind and Oblivion with interest for some time. With the craze around Skyrim, I decided to dive into the series by going back to its roots. So I downloaded Arena and Daggerfall, and later bought Oblivion and borrowed a friend's copy of Morrowind. Now I'm sort of jumping between them all.
I have played a good portion of Arena and Oblivion and I like them both for different reasons. I've played enough of Daggerfall to figure out what works best for me. That one was a little harder to get into because the random dungeons and monster generation can be quite unfair, not to mention the bugs. I'm currently in the process of figuring out Morrowind and so far it's a blast! In time, I will stop messing around and go through all four titles with the same (or at least similar) character concept before moving on to Skyrim.

I got to thinking... maybe I'm the Prince of Destruction, and I just don't know it yet.

A friend brought over Morrowind. Before that, stuck to SNES Zelda, PS1 Darkstone, and really never got into any other RPG on Xbox. Uncertain if I could play and enjoy the first two installments.

Wait. Ahem, I mean.. Daggerfall. Couldn't remember a single part of it though', if you put me to the test.
Indeed, it has been *that* long. Although I should really get back to it and good ol' Morrowind some day.

Re: What was your first?
I saw oblivion on a friend's house, then I search about the game and find out The elder Scrolls.
The mixture of a good history (and crappy pc) made me play Arena, but I didn't find out how to make it run faster... so, my truly first TES game is Daggerfall.

I got Morrowind because Toonami liked it.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Oblivion. I remeber when it came out and people were all into it, my computer back then was unable to run it. So I kinda forgot about it, until December 2009. I got it and was hooked at once.

Re: What was your first?
Well Oblivion was the first one I played properly, but technically it was an old, badly scratched copy of Morrowind my Aunt gave me once. I don't remember much I did except for getting into a fight with a Khajiit, then the town guard in Balmora over a stolen plate, and the game promptly CTD'ing twice, after which I never touched the disk again

I bought Morrowind because my parents wouldn't let me play WoW, and never looked back. Then I sampled Oblivion a couple years later with a friend, just long enough to know I didn't like it. And then there were none---but for the mighty Skyrim.

Re: What was your first?
Same sort of thing for me, I bought Morrowind because I couldn't run Oblivion well enough on my PC, and discovered my favourite Elder Scrolls game right there. I still love Oblivion though, it's like my benchmark for games, specifically, RPGs. For me, Morrowind can only really compete with Oblivion and win outright with awesome Mods like the MGSO Mod Pack.Utrechter wrote:I actually bought Morrowind because I couldn't find Oblivion anywhere.

Re: What was your first?
First was Arena, a loooong time ago. My cousin brought in a few of his games for me and I tried them out, Arena was one of them. It was so confusing and I didn't go far in the main quest (never finished it in fact), and I actually tried to walk to other provinces! The game seemed so scary at the time. I loved buying new swords and armor and run through the cities talking to npc's though.
For some years I forgot about the series until I saw a review of Oblivion on a gaming magazine. I searched about in but my pc wouldn't be able to run it so I decided to try Morrowind instead since it looked cool

Re: What was your first?
My first was Morrowind. My brother loaned it to me to play while I had my internet turned off for a while, and I honestly didn't like it. Some time later I found Oblivion in his room, he loaned me that and I fell instantly in love with it. I played it nearly to death, then I got Skyrim and have played it nearly to death. I've since revisited Morrowind and found myself liking it, considering giving Arena and Daggerfell a try.

Re: What was your first?
It surprised me today, as someone who was introduced to the series by Oblivion, (by a friend who also started with Oblivion, and also has Skyrim, but has never played any of the other TES games) then got stuck into Morrowind, then Arena and Daggerfall and now Skyrim, that a friend of mine who is playing Skyrim, has never played any of the other TES games. It was odd hearing him talk about Oblivion and the fact he'd never heard of Morrowind.

Re: What was your first?
My own first was Oblivion, and I was introduced to it by my best friend.
Of course, I very quickly out-nerded him on it. Oblivion was actually my first RPG ever, and I was completely and totally adicted. After about a year and a half, I decided to try Morrowind and picked it up for five or so bucks. Best value ever.
Spent uncounted hours on that masterpiece, becoming even more wrapped up in the lore.
I was actually watching the VGAs with the friend wo introduced me to TES when Skyrim was announced. We freaked out. Good times.

We really are too alike! Oblivion was my first RPG too, I was mainly an RTS gamer before then.

Re: What was your first?
My first was oblivion. I found it online when I was searching for a game similar to "Mount and Blade," though, the games are hardly similar I became interested and bought it. I've had it for years and I've gotten almost no where in the main quest, I spent most of my time in Leyawiin living out my characters life. I got skyrim on the release date and I haven't gone anywhere in the main quests for it either. I just visited the graybeards a few days ago.

Re: What was your first?
When I was chronically ill a good friend of mine brought Oblivion for me. I loved it, I more than loved it. Not only was it a terrific game, it helped take my mind off the day-in day-out chronic pain. Oblivion for me was escapism at its finest, at the moment in my life when I needed it the most. So TESIV will always have a special place in my sentiments reserved for it.
