Solar War - A Futuristic War RP

A response came immediately from the Thermopylae. "Ahh... We'll send down some shuttles. No need for the hassle of docking this monstrosity."

A series of ships, shuttles from the Thermopylae, as well as the Destroyers Cossack and Athabaskan, docked with the station.

They landed in Hangar Bay 1. It was wide and empty, apart from a sleek, silver vessel that was owned by a rich miner. The shuttles were scannned and the people inside were escorted to one of thhee many elevators at the edge of the Bay. The elevators were made of glass. Eris shone brightly, advanced terraforming technology making it look like a smaller Earth. Some shuttle-buses flew citizens around, taking them on school trips, tours and to work. The elevators descended, reaching a point where the black metal of the Somme could be seen.

The elevators opened. Walking past workers carrying boxes and men in suits, they were led to the Conference Room. The room was small and had a round table. All the members of teh Admiralty were there. "Ahh... The Jovians. Please, sit down."

Ten senior Jovian officers entered, most prominently the Grand Marshal of the Navy, Hans Kreuger, and by two Admirals, Olivia Wyte and Howard Eriksson. Kreuger was a wiry, dark man in his forties, Wyte was a severe looking woman in her seventies. Eriksson was a tall, young man, muscular and blonde-haired.

The assemblage sat down, Kreuger in the centre. "So." He said in a gravelly voice. "Here we are."

"Yes." Said the Admiral simply. "Now, down to business." He clicked a button. At image of a black void with some earthy shapes on it was projected onto the back of the wall. He stood up and began pointing. "This here." He inddicated a red dot. "Is where we believe the pirates are coming from. You may have wondered why we have a Dreadnought, ouronly one, ready for this "simple" mission, but that is what it is not. We have analysed data from the wreckage of pirates that you shot dowwn and the ones we have. We haave concluded that they are the same. And the pirates keep on coming. As you know, a pirate base on A-51 was destroyed. And just a few hours ago, anotheer bigger one was destrooyed. We almost lost two frigates. Any questions?"

[Eltee]

"What is their approximate strength?" Wyte drawled, clasping her bony hands together.

"Enough to almost take downn some of the finest ships in the galaxy." Said Smith.

Barb, an old Admiral with a white hairbrush moustache spoke up. "We think they are almsoot as strong as lasttime, when theyy managed to capture Eris and Pluto."

[Eltee]

Eriksson's eyes widened. "That bad?" He said shakily.

"Those damned pirates have never tasted Jovian firepower." Olivia said visciously. "No offence to you Kuipers."

"Why I never!" Yelleed Barb. "I could destroy you in my sleep! I am the Admiral of the Somme! The greatest ship you will ever see!"

"Excuse him, please. He's very... conservative." Smiled Smith. "Shall we move out?"

[Eltee]

"...And you've met Granny." Kreuger smiled wearily. "Now, down to the brass tacks..." He leaned forward. "I propose a two-pronged attack, to cut off all routes of escape."

"Hmm... That only works in conventional warfare. These pirates fight dirty, I assure you, theeyy will not come all at once." Informmed Smmith. "Actually, this may be a trick."

[Eltee]

"Perhaps we could use a magnetic impactor, or a series, to do serious damage to their base... And leaving the impactors 'apparently' unprotected. When they come to alleviate the stress on their base, the fleet emerges from an asteroid cluster." Eriksson suggested.

"No, no..." Olivia disagreed. "We need to infiltrate them!"

"We have only been able to narrow their base down to one sector. And we don't have enough his time to go covert!" Shouted Barb, banging his fists on the table. "The frigates and corvettes should go in with the fighters and bombers and make them think that is our force! If theyy have any larger ships the rest of the fleet will come in to mop up!"

We should separate our forces into two, and DM the enemy for each other to keep it fun.

"We should send two small convoys, forcing them to split their forces when they reinforce themselves."

"Then it's settled." Said Admiral Smith. "We leave today."

They walked back to the shuttles. Smith and Barb flew back to the Federation fleet. The Somme and the Pride of Eris were surrounded by a plethora of smaller ships. three Destroyers, the Thames, The Euphrates and the Tigris, were docked in the Cruiser, the Agnicourt, while the Frigates Rome, Florence and Turin hovered over the Dreadnought. Two Corvettes, Tesla and Watt, were behind the Frigates. A Heaven-Class Carrier lagged behind, carrying soldiers for thee possibility of a land battle.

"Ready?" Asked Admiral Smith, sitting in the bridge of the Pride of Eris.

The Jovian fleet likewise began to prepare itself for departure, dividing itself into two main groups. One was comprised of two corvettes, a squadron of fighters, and a destroyer, the newly produced Athabaskan. They were the bait. The larger fleet was poised to intervene immediately when trouble struck.

The Somme was to take half of the force and target the larger ships that would surely come. The Pride of Eris would take command of the smaller, more nimble ships to deal with the skiffs. "Are you ready?"

[Eltee]

"Ready."Came the solemn signal to the Kuiper ships.

"Then lets go."

The ships kept formation while they manoeuvred out of the system. Some tour shuttles followed them for a while, people frantically snapping pictures. They soared through space, the only sound being a quiet hum. "We are nearing the danger zone."

The Bridge of the Athabaskan was quiet, the lack of conversation broken by the hum of the engines and the soft beeping of a dozen displays.

"Acknowledged." The ship's Captain, Kyrie Newman, murmured softly into her mic.

"All gunnery crews on stand by." An ensign called.

"The Somme is leaving now with its ships. I'll do the same in a few minutes. We'll go deeper into the danger." Said Admiral Smith. Frantically, crews were running around the Pride of Eris, preparing the broadsides and the Point-Defence Turrets.

"This is Admiral Barb, the KEC is online." He announced.

"Excellent, save that for the mothership."

The Somme and the Frigates, along with the Corvettes, sped up and soon they were gone.

The Athabaskan and it's escort separated from the main fleet, heading a distance westward (if we apply the cardinal points to the solar system, and North rim-ward) before turning to head towards the common target it shared with the Somme.

The Pride of Eris and the Carrier, followed by a large group of assorted smaller ships, flew right into the red zone. Within minutes they were assaulted by skiffs. The fighters gave chase. A handful of skiffs were burned up in a hail of laser fire. "This is the Pride of Eris, we have come under attack at Sector 12.1!"

"Hold on a little longer, Pride. we need to draw them all out." Kylia said cooly.

"Ma'am? We have eyes on hostiles!"

Seven frigates and two pirate destroyers zoomed towards them, targeting them with their Heavy Lasers. A swarm of skiffs enveloped the Athabaskan in laser fire.
