Qa'Mhirr was already halfway up a pillar along the chamber wall, "Make sure you don't miss me," he joked at a mere whisper.
The stone walls were uneven enough that he didn't have to worry about his grip; at the top of the chamber, he pulled out a long, thin rope and a large bolt with a lope at the end.
He tied one end to the bolt and readied for the distraction to come.

Leiden and Veriax ran towards what was surely the villains lair. It was very well decorated - stone, not earth lay under foot - paintings... they were there certainly getting close. Until they reached a grand wooden door. It's handle was golden, and it looked like it could stop a very disgruntled Frost Troll. A try of the handle confirmed Leiden's fears - it was locked.

"Can you get this door open?" He asked.

"Any ideas?" Thoryn grimaced, as the others left he and Night-Runner. "We can't count on our companions to save us before we are overwhelmed if we charge in wildly, we'll need to think of something else."

"One... Two..." Leiden kicked the door open, and charged in through the doorway. Also immediately, he realized something was wrong. The magician was nowhere to be seen. In his place, lay a huge, golden statue - a machine far bigger than anything they had seen before - and it beginning to move. "CENTURION!" He screamed. He looked at Veriax, and back at the Centurion, and then around the room. The Centurion was on the lower level of the room, which lead up into a balcony, and back up. If they could get past the Centurion, they'd find the wizard in his chambers. But as the Centurion hissed steam, Leiden knew it wasn't going to be that simple...

Spoiler:
41!
Leiden noticed Veriax being flung across the room, and in a blind fit of rage, charged the thing. But instead of attacking it, he ducked under it's legs. It reached to grab him, but he slid under. Grabbing onto a pipe, he scaled up the beasts legs, and then to it's chest. In the center of it was a glowing red orb, which seemed to be rotating. He kicked at it, and it flew out of the chest. The machine staggered, and fell forward onto the ground as Leiden clung on for dear life. It hit the ground with a shudder that could be felt through the entire room.

"I... I'm not sure" Night-Runner said. The loss of his friend had muddled his mind somewhat and everything was happening so quickly. Suddenly, across from him and leaning against the far wall he spied a glowing object. He padded over to it and lifted it into the light.

It was a [&@%!] sword, Glowing a dim blue-silver. He tested it's weight and swung it in front of himself a few times. [&@%!] swords were longer than the traditional longsword or broadsword but shorter than a greatsword. They were designed for two handed use, but could be used in one hand, by the strong, if needs be. It's hilt was bound in fine leather and beside it sat an ornate scabbard. It was clear to night runner that this sword had been used very rarely if ever, the silvery edge was almost perfect with no nooks or scratches to be seen at all.

Suddenenly night-Runner had made up his mind. Thoryn was talking behind him in a hushed wisper, but Night-Runner didn't care. The metal was cold and wet with blood. He began to run, he didn't know what was proppeling him, rage? Honor? He didn't care, all he cared about was making these creatures pay. Before the others even had a chance to stop him he had vaulted the low railing and was falling toward the twisting mass of metal and cogs below.

"FOR SETHERAN, FOR THE MARSH!!" He yelled with all his might."

Leiden and Veriax stormed into the mages chambers, to find him cowering under the bed. Leiden and Veriax dragged him out from under and flung him against a wall. Leiden drew his sword, and got ready to kill him. But... he looked at the mage, and his sword. His mind flashed back to killing the Jarl's son. The look of fear on his face. And despite what he had done, he couldn't kill him. Not again.

"I'm not like you." He said. "Not anymore." He punched the mage, and he fell to the floor. "Do what you want with him." Leiden said to Veriax, jogging out of the room. "I'm going to help the others."

Leiden and Veriax arrived back in the central chamber, to see things were not going quite as well as he had hoped. Nightrunner was in the pit fighting for his life, and everyone was standing there bewildered. He looked down at Night-Runner, and realized that if somebody didn't help him, he could die. Leiden jumped in, and...

Qa'Mhirr cringed slightly at the amount of noise now filling the chamber, he shot the heavy bolt in the bracketing of the massive crystal and tied the other end of the rope to the pillar.
Slinging his crossbow, it took him mere seconds to reach the soul gem; the khajiit swung himself upside down and let his legs and tail keep him steady while he carefully pulled out the lesser gems.
Holding them to the massive crystal he said, "Vabazeri Ri'sallidad," before channeling a small portion of his magicka and soul into the small soul gems and pushing the captured souls into the control crystal.

A sound like warping glass cut through the din of clashing metal in the chamber and massive fissures appeared on the crystal, many small fragments rained down below.
Regaining his composure, Qa'Mhirr stuck his paw deep into one of the fissures and winced, filling the crack with ice and splitting the gem even further.
"If you want to live, Khajiit suggests you run!" he howled as larger pieces of crystal began to dislodge.

Thoryn reacted, his mind taking only moments to adjust to the shock Night-Runner's charge had given him. "Nerevar guide me," he whispered, as he followed the Argonian into the fray, cutting through two of the Dwemer Spiders before him as he shouted a battle cry.

He saw Leiden, Veriax and Llarays all rush to Night-Runner's aid and moved towards them, evading the swinging blade of a nearby Dwemer Sphere as he did so.

Thoryn fought his way over to Veriax as the Dunmer engaged one of the remaining Spheres. He lunged forward, striking the Sphere from behind as its attention remained centred on Veriax, delivering a fatal blow to the hulking Dwemer machine.

Night-Runner regretted his actions the second his hand left the railing surrounding the pit. All there was to break his fall was twisted, writhing metal. He landed heavily on the back of one of the dwarven spheres and went tumbling over, the sphere fell forwards with him and crashed heavily to the ground.

As he turned he found the sphere had righted itself, quickly, and was retaliating. He raised his left hand and from it spewed forth a ghastly purple light, it enveloped the creature and its movemnets began to get stiffer and slower. The creature had raised it's sword arm to strike him but the effects of the burden spell were becoming clear. It had slowed almost to a stop before Night-Runner brought his [&@%!] sword down in a powerful two handed arc. The silvery blade cut through the metal with a scraping noise and the automaton's arm was severed, clean off. It made a disgusting hissing noise as if it were letting off steam.

Out of the corner of his eye Night-Runner could see his companions vaulting the railing and landing in the pit. They looked as determined to finish this as he did.

A massive of chunk of the crystal broke loose, landing in the center of the room, crushing four of the dwemer spiders; their explosions muffled under the slab of soul gem.
"Alright, you want to stay, be Qa'Mhirr's guest," he yelled one last time before grabbing the rope and cutting the end with his claws, swinging back out of the main chamber, his arms giving out.
His trajectory would take him above Llarays' head, he curled into a ball, knowing he was too weak to make a proper landing.

Thoryn heard the crystal loosening above him and heard Leiden's shout. He hurtled after Veriax, diving in a forward roll for the edge of the cavern as a huge chunk shattered in the centre of the room, where he had been standing only moments before. A fragment of the crystal lodged itself in Thoryn's left shoulder, catching him in the gap between his armour, as shrapnel sprayed in all directions. The Dunmer let out a grunt of pain and continued towards safety.

Night-Runner's trance was broken by the collapse of the crystal. He suddenly realised the danger he was in. He thrust he sword into a nearby sphere and ripped sideways. The machinery that passed for the creatures guts was spilled onto the ground and it reeled backwards in surprise and horror. He only had a few seconds now. he sheathed his blade and ran, with all his strength, at the crumbling wall before him, Debris was falling all around and he had seconds to leave the pit. He found a handhold, and then another, Thoryn was scrambling to safety just to his right but night runner couldn't find a way up, the wall ahead of him was too smooth to grip.

"Help me!" He shouted, "I need a hand up!" Night-Runner outstreched his hand, hoping one of his companions would hear him over the tumult of the falling debris.

Qa'Mhirr opened his eyes to find himself hovering in the air, "Thanks, you can put me down," he said to Llarays below him; the sound of the ceiling collapsing in the next room echoed loudly.
Slinking to the floor, Qa'Mhirr was panting heavily and clutching his right hand, it was furless, raw, and blistered from the frost; his head darted left and right, looking at something that wasn't there, "no," he shook his head and seemed fine.

"WE NEED TO GET OUT!" Leiden yelled. Noticing Thoryn, he ran up to the Dunmer, helping him stay up by holding his uninjured shoulder up, and together they limped quickly out. The caverns crumbled beneath their feet as they hurried, through the mines, the tunnels, and finally back up into Berandas, where the entrance collapsed just as they made one last dart for freedom. Through the cracks in the ruin, a glint of sunlight appeared. It was day. Leiden silently cursed. Another night without sleep, he thought.
