I think we've found something significant here, but I'm not sure I can derive any meaning from the name (in terms of what it might encompass, maybe something Dawnstar related as a long shot?). I also remember it being mentioned (by Sloady or Kerr I think, that they'd trademarked Redguard recently too)Arch-Mage Matt wrote:So... recently, ZeniMax trademarked the name Dawnguard.

It probably does have something to do with Dawnstar.

One can hope it has something to do with Azura even though it probably doesn't.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

Re: DLC Speculation
I was thinking Meridia. Nothing is known about her (So Bethesda can make up a storyline) any many of her associated items/quests have Dawn in it.

Why trademark Redguard? Didn't they already do that when Bethesda released TESA: Redguard?I also remember it being mentioned (by Sloady or Kerr I think, that they'd trademarked Redguard recently too)

Meridia would be good too. However as I said I want to see Orsinium or Vaermina.

Easy enough for Bethesda to change via evolution or magic, can't see them bringing in a new race as DLCMars wrote:Ogres are unintelligent and have no culture. Their physiology is also not humanoid enough to support standard equipment.

Re: DLC Speculation
Ogres are supposed to be Malacath's children, but they're not Daedra apparently. They may be devolved Aldmer like the Orcs and possibly the Goblins and other races. Or they could be descended from the Ehlnofey, like the giants and all playable races, and evolved alongside the Mer and Men. They also do seem to have a very rudimentary culture. They can apparently make and maintain fires, for instance, but beyond that we know very little.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Meridia or Azura could also make sense (maybe we'll be going to Moon Shadow?). As for why trademark Redguard, I think they were renewing their trademark, iirc, but they haven't done that with older titles so I don't know to what end.

Malacath seems to be the patron deity of the goblin-ken. I doubt the Daedra had much to do with their creation.Pilaf The Defiler wrote:Ogres are supposed to be Malacath's children, but they're not Daedra apparently.

Daedra don't technically create - they cannot. It's against the essential nature. They can't even comprehend cutting something off themselves, which is how gods create in this universe.
They can change or corrupt, however, like Molag Bal did with Vampires, Hircine did with Lycanthropes, Azura did to the Dunmer or Boethia tricked the Orcs and Malacath into doing. Malacath seems to have a special fondness for all the ugly and brutish races. The Orcs are the most sophisticated among them, but I have to wonder what their relationship to the smaller, less advanced Goblin tribes is.

Touché, but I guess that Moonshadow would be a nice contrast to Skryim, and from what we've seen in the past, Bethesda likes to mix things up.

I dunno about more Oblivion realms or Daedric content. We got that for both Oblivion expansions because...well, it was Oblivion. It was appropriate for that game and the events happening at the time. Skyrim is about political upheaval, Dragons, and old lost things reappearing. Those are some of the major themes I've noticed. I'd expect any expansions to follow one or more of these threads.

Figure it out, most of the people playing this game arent on PC.Mars wrote:You don't need separate cells. If the hardware is good enough outdoor cells further down the map can load in the background without pulling you out of the game with a loading screen. Detail isn't really a factor here, especially not with Skyrim. The random encounters only load when the PC is in a certain radius of "encounter spots" and Skyrim has far less interactive items than Morrowind and Oblivion. So yes, you could.FrostMage79x wrote:It's not consoles, it's the simple fact that no matter how powerful your rig, you truly can't make an entire world the size of Skyrim without some load times.
Probably be best if you didn't act like that.

I always considered going blind by seeing Moonshadow as hyperbole. If I recall correctly mortals went there in The Infernal City.

This. Skyrim expansions will probably contain dragons in one way or another, or at least take place in Skyrim, but since a criteria is more land-mass, they have to think of something clever. Underwater city (remnants of Winterhold)? Underground city (Dwemer)?Pilaf The Defiler wrote:I dunno about more Oblivion realms or Daedric content. Re: DLC Speculation
If I could choose a dlc to create, I would want to go through the tomb of talos ( ato nordic ruinclan that is larger than any other dungeon) you fight your way through undead dragons, draugr, vampires and all sorts of monsters, and in the end you battle talos's draugr and when you defeat him, you acquire his personal armor and weapons, or a new shout, and receive a message of congratulations from talos himself.
That would be awesome.

In regards to Dawnguard, could Dawnstar be in some way the point of entry for some sort of invasion? Maybe something to do with the Thalmor recruiting mercenaries army allies from somewhere else?
