Favorite Divine

Post by Witchery »

Since there were a bunch of favorite Daedra threads, I decided to make one signifying the holier side of TES mythology. What is your favorite? Is it . .
  • Akatosh, the Dragon God of Time and Chief God

Kynareth, the Goddess of Nature, Air, and the Heavens

Mara, the Goddess of Love, Compassion and the Mother Goddess

Julianos, God of Wisdom and Logic

Stendarr, God of Mercy and Righteous Rule

Talos, God of War and Governance

Dibella, Goddess of Beauty and the Arts

Arkay, God of Life and Death

    or

Zenithar, God of Work and Commerce
My personal favorites are Mara and Stendarr.

Stendarr. He's the god of mercy and righteous rule, which is just amazing to me - very noble like - and I like to play warrior types; I think they go well together.

How can I pick just one?...

My favorite is probably Kynareth, just a bit ahead of Talos, Mara, and Dibella.

Kynareth, because of the Spriggans and rule over the elements/nature. I'd pick Lorkhan if he was in here though...

I think nobody worships Lorkhan. And he isn't even in the nine (oh sorry, eight) Divines pantheon.

Well he did help create Nirn just as much as the eight. But yeah, he's really not part of them. Also, I'm pretty sure Lorkhan is Shor, Shezarr, Sep, etc. so if they're still worshiped, Lorkhan probably is too.

I think that Lorkhan is technically a Daedra. According to Mankar Camoran, anyway.

I know some people don't but I believed Camoran when he said Lorkhan was a Daedra. His heart sure was powerful anyway.

Stendarr, God of Merciful forbearance
I feel he best represents the code that Aedric worshipers live by...and I like the Vigilant...

I like Kynareth. She's the most Padomaic of the Nine, and the least connected to the formal practice of chapel worship. She is the wild incarnate, beautiful and strong, unfathomable and wrathful and cruel. Godess of the Skies, mistress of the Storm.

Lorkhan is neither Daedra nor Aedra, but he's much closer to Aedra.

The distinction is mostly ideological. Aedra participated in Creation. Daedra did not. There are some beings who are in a fuzzy area between those two black and white ideals. Lorkhan was the trickster who organized the whole scheme, but he didn't actually intend to sacrifice his life force until Auriel forced him to. That's the Aldmeri view, anyway. Other beings like Magnus pulled out at the last moment and became Star Orphans, another type of god altogether.

It comes down to Julianos and Akatosh to me. I voted Akatosh, but I'd normally have voted Julianos and I'm thinking I'd like to change my vote

I think it's implied all the animals are technically hers..and all the plants. Her domain is huge, actually. And she's the hero Goddess who helped both the Nords and Imperials throw off the yoke of slavery. Also, as the mother of Morihaus, that makes her the grandmother of Minotaurs, who are the issue of Morihaus and Alessia.
