Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
I don't see Skyrim so much as being destroyed as much as I see it being divided and weakened. Compared with Cyrodiil in the late 3rd era, Skyrim is absolutely wracked with civil dischord. The Empire-Stormcloak conflict is the main example, but the Nords barely have control of any of the reach, the Thalmor are present and sowing more strife, Winterhold is practically a ruin, Riften is a shadow of its former self and practically paralysed by corruption, and Windhelm is beset with problems of racial disharmony.
I see the provinces suffering individually and not being reinforced by strong central authority. The Bretons perhaps seizing the opportunity to re-occupy the Reach, while the other holds establish their autonomy.

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
I'm thinking the Thalmor would try and invade, what with Skyrim being weakened by civil war and all.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Mudrabs. Giant mudcrabs. The Imperial Province wasn't "destroyed" and neither was Morrowind. There is usually a war or some form of disaster that happens, but what provinces don't have problems over 200 years?

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
What do we mean by 'destroyed' in the context of this thread?
I think that saying Morrowind and Cyrodiil were thoroughly devastated in terms of population, economy, military strength is more fair.
Because the names of these provinces are political as well as geographic, it might also be fair to say that Morrowind, Elsewhyre and Valenwood were destroyed as functioning political units and were replaced as something very different. So when I imagine Skyrim being 'destroyed', I see this as a destruction of the province as a functioning political unit.

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
When it's put like that, Skyrim is already being destroyed as a 'functional political unit' by the civil war and Thalmor. So the most logical outcome would be invasion by the Thalmor, in which Skyrim will end up like Elsweyr and Valenwood.

Poor hygiene and lack of toilets will doom Skyrim.

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
Skyrim will fall after the biggest plot of all the Nirn.
Both the Civil War and the Forsworn rebellion has been created to taste the force of Skyrim. Also the Thalmor aren't a real faction: they are robot that has been created by the dwemer. Indeed they never disapperead... They just become invisible ( thanks to M'aiq the Liar for the suggestion).
The Dwemer tried once to return, but failed and created an explosion that destroyed Winterhold. Then the radiation created some orrible creatures: the Falmer. Indeed they never existed, they were just some enemies that have been created by the Humans of Atmora, because they weren't able to just defeat some Snow wolf.
But some greater figures are beyond all: the argonians.
They are fallen dragons who actually have reproduced themself with rabbits, the real sons of the deadra.
So the Aronians-Dragons-Rabbits are going to capture Skyrim with their army of Fosworn and Thalmor-robots, with the help of the invisible Dwemer.
And their chief is ... The Imperial Mudcrab.

In all serious though, that was genius. I too find this thread very silly...

Because of the "bunny" option. But even if it wasn't an option I bet some people would still make things up...I too find this thread very silly...
Want to have a "serious" thread? Create a Stormcloak vs Empire for the 563527465 time and add the Thalmor to it. It will implode in a few minutes.

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
Probably an invasion, "due to the weakened internal bonds between the cities largely caused by the worsening civil war and dragon attacks, the Aldmeri Dominion eventually took control of Skyrim. The empire was weakened enough by the previous Great War and in combination to half of skyrim fighting against the other half, the greatly weakened forces of the Skyrim were no match to the Aldmeri Dominion." Then next game, maybe you get to fight Empire vs Thalmor or something, or maybe something like Psijics vs Thalmor (since the Psijics were the other sect of the high elves, although this is unlikely since the Psijics are supposed to be reclusive)

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
Something goes horribly wrong with the Time Wound at the Throat of the World. Pieces of time change over various parts of Skyrim, diverging along a different number of histories and the damage is scattered all over Skyrim. Rivers are cut in half by glacier or rock, half of a city is rendered crumbling ruin. Families come apart as beloved members are erased from time (but not memory). A husband awakens one morning to discover his wife at the end of a vastly different destiny than his own. A housewife suddenly finds herself as a fully-inducted member of the Companions in the middle of a fight, with no idea of how to fight.

Madonach didn't get a warm welcome the way I happened to write out the tale...Red Guardian wrote: ... There are few Forsworns but since Madonach came back you never know...

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
Just some thoughts on this.
You can rule out forsworn, when I play Madonach has the life expectancy of a mayfly. There tough in agroup but once the frost wielding mages are dead the rest soon follow. Maybe the Nords will be too busy watching the ladies in fur bikinis to fight back.
The Falmer are hardly a credible threat considering they been in their tunnels for years without finding an exit to the surface.
Dragons can't see it, they struggle with mud crabs and I've seen them taken apart by Riften Guards and Legionaires.
Civil War that can be ended in the game itself if you kill Ulfrick.

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
Well the Falmer are known to raid caravans here and there at night time (there is a least one dungeon where the dead NPC's have paper on them that claims this). Also (if you put all of their underground habitat together) they have a LOT of territory. Quite some of it is connected though Blackreach too.
If they would get their act together I can see the nighttime raids becoming a very big deal. You can't run cities if the farmland around them is not save half the time.

What I predict that has happened in Skyrim when the next one in the series comes is that:

Unfortunately, I play on Xbox so is beyond my capailities. I have very basic laptop at home for emails and shopping but just can't bring myself to get a PC for recreation as I spend all my time at work using a PC.Ranga360 wrote:Yes true there are a few forgotten buildings and such but hey are you going to design them to put out as a mod? The people of Skyrim will find technology in Dwemer ruins that make video games and the internet possible.
It's all downhill at a high rate of knots after that.

Given that I am currently playing Stormcloak:
I predict that when the Jarls finally have their moot to chose the next High King they will pick me, the Dragon Born, and then Skyrim will drown in a flood of Ulfric's tears.

There has been talk of the Falmer becomeing more and more confident in their raids. Coming closer and closer to the surface. I reckon they will invade all the major cities, with mass killings. eventually the Thalmor/Empire will wipe them out but it will tak years to rebuild

Re: How will Skyrim be destroyed?
civil war and then invasion by a more organised and less alcoholic race
the fact that the country is not unified (nine holds under one high king who can be cut out as soon as someone takes the notion) means it will always be ripe for outside overlords to divide and conquer.. it might not be now with the Altmer, but it is inevitable. Imo Nord society can only unite against a powerful outside threat, and then only if the threat is perceived as such by every hold
