Dark Brotherhood Glitch

Hi! I've been playing for a while now and have exhausted a number of quests, but haven't yet joined the Dark Brotherhood - I'm told I need to killl someone to meet Lucian Lachance, but he never seems to show up, and I've never got the message "Your killing was observed.." I've killed a number of beggars now, and the occasional person out in Anvil - what am I doing wrong?

he comes when you sleep in a "safe" place - an inn, tavern, guild, your house etc.

Yeah, not kidding, what's up with killing beggars! Talk about totally lame.

Speaking of lame, I have seen some posts discuss some quasi important NPC show up dead? He did the same thing in my game but I saw what killed him. It's not that he fell into the river like I have read, at least in my game, he got killed by a lion as he walked around outside the city. Stupid guy and stupid lion... What will I miss out on now that he's dead?

Well if your playing on a PC you can just bring the NPC back to life via console. If you are playing on XBox360 then you will miss out on an entire guild. (The Dark Brotherhood)

And judging by your sig I am guessing it's a guild you'd be interested in.

I'm totally new here so this thread is probably very old - forgive me for bringing it up again.

I basically [&@%!] up when I started the game, I killed Lucien Lachance when he contacted me - I thought he was a [&@%!] assassin or something.

Is there ANY way of joining now? I don't care if I have to cheat or something, I just want to be in that [&@%!] guild!

Please help - Thanks.

[&@%!], when I talk to him I can only press 'rumors' and.. well nothing happens. How can I make him talk about the guild itself?

...hmm, been thinking for a while now. Isn't there a way to set a Quest to a certain stage? what if I just set the first DB-quest to some kind of starting-stage?

Need [&@%!] help to get the IDs and [&@%!] though..

I haven't tried the DB line yet, so I'm only going off what others have discussed, but....

The ".placemeat" console command would have only brought him back. You need to sleep in a bed, in a safe place, for him to approach you about joining the DB.

This is presuming that you've already killed someone and had the "... observed by forces unseen" message. Otherwise you will have to kill someone before you sleep in order to get any kind of offer from Lucien.

I think you need to kill someone again now that he's back from the dead. That's just a guess on my part.

Ok, I brought him back from the dead. But it's still the same old [&@%!] - he's just another guy in the game.

What I need is "... observed by forces unseen"
I got that when I started playing, but I can't get it back..

So, if somebody knows how to get that thing - PLEASE post it here or something. (console - or scriptthing perhaps?)

Got any more ideas? bring em' on..

Alright so i'm looking at the CS now...you'll prolly want to start with A knife in the Dark, which is the first quest where you gotta go kill Rufio at the Inn of ill omen...using console to setstage (PLEASE save before you do this, i don't want to be responsible for anything that goes wrong !!!)

So i woulod assume;

setstage 000224EB 10

That should set the stage beginning "While sleeping, I was visited by Lucien Lachance...." I wont spoil the rest of it! Hopefully this should get you rolling, if not, i'll go over the CS again and work somthing out
