On topic: I absolutely hate it because "She will only love you if you get this object for her!" advertisements everywhere. Why do you think this society is so materialistic? If you are in a relationship where your partner only loves you because you hive her stuff, I've got news for you.

I would celebrate it if it did not turn so stupid as it is today. I saw one girl this morning saying that she hated valentines day. I went up "Finally, a girl who sees the light of the crap." Next thing that comes out of her mouth, "I hate it because it shoves in your face that you are single."

Hey! Clouds coming in! I really do hope it snows in tomorrow so I do not have to go to school on the dreaded day.

Well, doubt I'll spend the entire day with my boyfriend, but I'll definitely see him and do something with him for a while. Neither of us are keen on that luvvy-duvvy stuff anyway, which is why I got him this instead of a traditional V day present (yes, it was way overpriced and yes, I only bought it so I could just borrow it later). I'm also going to take the opportunity to blast out The Love Below in all its entirety because any excuse to play that stuff out loud is great. And I might watch 500 Days Of Summer/Love Actually for the same reason as TLB.

Valentine's Day is just another day. There are plenty of "Holidays" that I find to be completely idiotic, and this is one of them. Yes, I'm sure it has some historical significance somewhere along the way, but all I ever see it used for is a commercial day to "express love". If you are in love with someone, express that every day. You shouldn't need a specially set aside day to do it.

So I will treat Valentine's day as I do any other day. I have no girlfriend, but I won't treat it as "Singles Awareness Day" or any of that nonsense. Drawing attention to it in the opposite way is just as annoying as drawing attention to it for the "right" way.

I think the idea of the day wasn't that it's the only day where you're allowed to show love, but the day where you set aside your usual day-to-day crap and go over the top with love-y stuff. Yeah, it's brutally commercial but so is every other holiday by now. You can still show a bit of extra affection without emptying your wallet for yo laydee.
