Log in irregular

Post by Rohugh »

I notice over the last few weeks it has become more difficult to log in first time. Today it took 4 attempts, and yes I am sure it was username and password correct each time.

This has happened to me, as well, though never four times in a row. I go to http://forums.uesp.net/login.php, and, yes, I make certain that it says precisely that in the menu bar, enter my username, enter my password, press the return key or single left click the “login” button, and I am taken to the Forum Index page but shown as not logged in. :?: Every time this has happened for me, though, I followed the login procedure again, same as before, and logged in successfully on the second try. It has not happened in the last two or three days, but was happening with some regularity for a week or two before that. :?

It's been happening for a day or two at least.

Just incase it's of any use, I'm not having any probs at all, I'm running Firefox. It might pay for those with probs to start listing their browser/s that they're using when encountering the prob?

I was one of the ones having the prob a while back, but that was when the url changed, and once I changed to using the new url, I haven't had any probs at all with it.

No problems here. Try checking the "log me in automatically" check-box so you get logged in when you arrive automatically and see if that helps.
Removed due to size.

I am using opera, and haven't had any problems since i started using the new url.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

I'm on IE7, but since taking Bear's cue and switching the bookmark to; http://forums.uesp.net, I don't think it's happened once.

I am on Firefox and am still having problems.

I have tried it with both automatic and manual log in, same result although it has been logging in at the second try.

And you are sure there is not an old page still lingering in your cached files somewhere?

I am getting quite confused over thi.

I log into forums.uesp.net and click log in.
The log in screen comes up with name and password.
I click log in and it takes me back to the log in screen without being logged in.

Now, if I do this a second time it logs me in OR if I close the tab and load forums.uesp.net I am logged in. *strange*

Oh well, as long as I can get in one way or another it doesn't really matter.

It does that to me. I think it's just not refreshing correctly or something. I have UESP forums as a quick link thing at the top of my browser, so I just click that. When I sign in it appears to not sign me in, so I just hit the link again and it's fine. I've noticed if I try to sign in twice, it tends to make it not show what posts I haven't read. That happened once after I'd been away for a few days. Boy was I lost. So, seems to me it DOES sign you in, it just doesn't look like it.

I'm with Bear on this, it v. much sounds as though something might be stuck in your cache. This is exactly the probs that quite a few of us were having before we switched to the new link. I def haven't had any probs since either.

Rohugh and Cactus, do you both watch the link in your browser at every step to ensure that it's always the forums.uesp.net link?

My little link I mentioned before has officially been changed.

Edit: Doing so required my to log in again, which erased all the "new" markers again. Lame.

Well, I cleared the cache again, made a new link in the browser, and it has now logged in OK, twice.

We will see over the next few days.
