The blond man ran away from the building and jumped into the van.
"Go!" he shouted towards the cockpit as he slammed the door shut. The airbus started flying backwards, screeching as it ground against the metal of the narrow alley's buildings.

"You all OK?" the blond man barked.

"We were on our way to pick you up," the voice from the cockpit sounded. "Didn't you tell them, Finn?"
"Finn's not here, Sinatra," the blond man grimly said. "They took him."

The blond man grunted and looked away.
"Is headquarters safe?" he asked Sinatra.
"Communication's blocked," Sinatra replied. She sounded oddly calm. "We can't risk bringing them there now anyway. They'd endanger everything."
"And what do you suggest we do, drop them?" the blond man snapped.
Sinatra replied with silence.

"We don't know what's safe right now," the blond man said. "You all just stay quiet, we'll try to figure things out." With these words he climbed into the cockpit and started talking with Sinatra. Their low voices and the cockpit door muffled the sound for the rest.

Newton woke up. His head throbbed with debilitating pain. He wasn't able to get up, and his willpower was depleted. "Ouch..." he muttered painfully.

After a while the blond man came back out of the cockpit.
"We've decided what we're gonna do with you," he sternly anounced to the recruits.
"Moors and Milk, we're going to drop you off a few blocks away from here. You're going to go home and say that you were kidnapped but managed to escape. When they ask you who did and why, you'll say low layer thugs who wanted to ransom you. Don't mention us, or I'm going to have Blade bust your asses." He turned to the others. "We'll take the rest of you to next week's HQ. We're moving bases ahead of schedule because of this and that means that it isn't safe yet. Until then...we're bringing you to the pre-core layer."

"But...the ferals live there," Cosmo objected with his shaky voice. "You're going to get us all killed."

The blond man grunted.
"If you've got what it takes to be a part of this you won't. Consider it a test. It's the only place you'll be safe at anyway."

"I'll stay with them," Sinatra said from the cockpit.
"No!" the blond man objected. "That's far too dangerou-"
"And you're sending a bunch of rookies down there," Sinatra interupted him. "They need someone to tell them what to do and I'm leagues more social than you."
The blond man had nothing to counter that.
"We should be there in two hours tops," Sinatra said.
