If we charitably assume that Beth developed Skyrim to make optimal use of console resources to deliver the most balanced mix of graphics, effects, and performance, then there probably isn't very much more in terms of enhancements they can cram into the console versions without upsetting that balance.Assassin540 wrote:Wait what do you mean?
Skyrim for PC has a much higher ceiling in terms of what can developed for and added to it, while maintaining tolerable performance. Witness the High Res Pack, developed and released for PC only. Now, all that said, if Beth devs could figure out how to rearrange some assets or rejigger some data on the console versions without adding more stress to the system... well, it just seems unlikely.

Roll your eyes all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the PS3 and 360 are based on 7+ year old technology and can't be upgraded. Yeah, consoles are cheaper than a good gaming computer, but you pay for it later when their hardware eventually falls further and further behind the performance curve.Red Guardian wrote:In others words: PC MASTER RACE.Will Zurmacht wrote:If we charitably assume that Beth developed Skyrim to make optimal use of console resources to deliver the most balanced mix of graphics, effects, and performance, then there probably isn't very much more in terms of enhancements they can cram into the console versions without upsetting that balance.

Much the same thing can be said of dedicated gaming PCs. Sure, they're upgradeable, but only to a point if you're dealing with an older build. In this economy, many people are unwilling or unable to spend money on something as trivial as a gaming rig in order to get closer to the bleeding edge.enyamerT wrote:Roll your eyes all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the PS3 and 360 are based on 7+ year old technology and can't be upgraded. This might be interesting if the mod community makes ALL of these as mods, and puts them on Steam Workshop, before Bethy finishes up the DLC pack and releases it. They can't really sell something that was already available for free.

Re: Gahh. New DLC info.
let's avoid the console vs pc squabble
of course PCs are technically far superior machines in most ways to consoles, if they weren't why would anyone buy one? there is no purpose in arguing about this, people choose a console or a PC based on their circumstances and tastes.. you may as well criticise someone for only drinking beer instead of wine, wearing the wrong sort of cheese on their lapels
the reality of the situation is this: without PCs the technology wouldn't develop at the pace it does; and without consoles, the computer game market wouldn't be as mega huge as it is now so the resources devs rely on to develop the cutting edge woudn't be available
this forum is about our love of TES and TES is a multi platform product

It would be very sweet if they added any of those things mentioned in the list. I wonder if the "werebear" is biologically related to "Man-bear-pig"...

Son, I am disappoint.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Wereboars are only available in high rock ya dolts.. But if Bethesda ignores everyone and doesn't add these to all the consoles and the pc.. Well does anyone feeling a rioty mood on that day?

Giant enemy crab!
Most of these things look neat. Spears, seasons, werebears, lycanthropy perk tree, follower things, et cetra.
The goblins look like the goblins from Troll 2.

Horse combat would be great. They're near useless when you have to spend 4 seconds getting off to fight while you're entirely vunerable. I'd also like to see spears again, or crossbows. Heck, even both.

Re: Gahh. New DLC info.
The horse combat and showy spear moves remind me of Dynasty Warriors, but in a good way.
Ironically there are already spears in Skyrim vanilla - they're just not able to be picked up or equipped. Nearly due west of the Saarthal fast travel map icon is an ancient frozen mammoth in the side of a glacier, riddled with Dwemer arrows and spears. The arrows can be picked up but the spears are just for looks.
