An interesting assignment in my computers class

Post by Sublymonal »

I was in my Computer Apps class, and we were doing a mail merge assignment where we had to create our own list from word (It gave us what we were supposed to input) and, I kid you not, one of the towns was "Bethesda".
"In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood." -William Safire, moon landing failure speech (undelivered)

 Did it make you want to go and visit?!!

There have been a few software companies over the yrs that have been named after their general location. I think Sierra was another.
Bethesda Softworks has been a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment content for over two decades. Founded in 1985 by Christopher Weaver[1] in Bethesda, Maryland; they moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1990, and have a long history of PC and console games.

I wonder if the most popular joke there is to walk up to people and, for seemingly no reason, ask them, “Seen any elves?” Then break into gales of laughter as though that question was the funniest joke ever told. :P

Technically, it would be "Have you seen any Nords?"

We had a sucky assignment in geometry. We had to write a Valentine's Day love poem using 10 geometry terms..... Pardon me, but geometry isn't exactly the most romantic language. Most of the stuff sounded so corny. (Yes, she made us read our poems in front of the entire class!!!!!!)

Has your class done something particularly to [&@%!] this teacher off. or something? What a ridiculous assignment. You have my genuine sympathy. I often wonder what exactly teachers who give assignments like this are actually trying to teach their students.

Naw, the teacher is just the devil's advocate. She is evil.

Maybe it is her payback for us sleeping in class. She is like Jigglypuff from pokemon: as soon as she starts talking everyone falls asleep from her monologe voice.

 I have no idea who or what “Jigglypuff” is, but from your description, I image her to sound like the adults in the old Charlie Brown cartoon specials. The devil’s advocate, though? As in Satan’s very own personal lawyer? That doesn’t sound just evil, but EVIL! I’m scared now, and I probably live a long, long way from you.
(Dang! We don’t have a fear emoticon for this board!)

Btw, Vesna, since I appear to be addressing you directly, is the story about the newspaper and the absentee excuse actually about you, personally? Inquiring minds want to know™....

I assure you she is not my lawyer, but there may be a position free soon.
( I'm thinking of getting rid of a few lawyers, cuz they're in the news all the time. )

For the first one, jigglypuff is a pokemon that sings. Whenever it starts singing, people and pokemon fall asleep on the spot. Looks like this: http://www.projectbag.com/pokemon/pics/jigglypuff02.jpg

For the second one, no. My friend used it, and I thought it was funny when the APES teacher accepted it. The Geometry teacher didn't; but then again, she doesn't even accept written passes from other teachers.
