Re: What's your dragon name?
I'm not entirely sure, but a quick look over and I don't believe it is a real language (with a grammar and such), but instead just a quick semi-language, where arbitrary things stand for words and some simple morphemes. I know there's a term for that but I can't think it up at the moment. In any case, I hadn't looked at it in depth yet but that's my guess.OBLIVOWIND wrote:It does make me wonder how complicated Dragon Language is. They say English is the hardest language to learn, if you don't already know it.
Now that that's out of the way... My name? Rovaanvahlokfron -

Re: What's your dragon name?
There's no apostrophe in the dragon language, so as it said on the wiki the tendency is to move prepositional phrases earlier in the sentence. I think you're probably right, Avron.

Re: What's your dragon name?
Well, the missing apostrophe doesn't necessarily mean anything; there isn't one in Turkish, either (you demonstrate possessives like we do in English - ie, Avron's, that guy's - via morphemes attached to words). It's just an educated guess after a quick review. Constructing a fully fledged language/grammar is tough - and way beyond the scope of the Thu'um for the game!

Re: What's your dragon name?
I know the missing apostrophe isn't really all that important. It did occur to me, though, that they could (and will) probably make up some sort of lore explanation about it's similarity to English.
That might actually be an interesting project --- developing a more fully-fledged form of the Dragon language.

Re: What's your dragon name?
It's certainly possible. They gave us a good way to work!
In fact, a more in depth look at the grammar that does exist could probably allows us to develop some rules. I could look at it in my spare time and see what I find out. I already did some basic phonology work to try to find some patterns but that's that. We do lots of reconstructions in linguistics, after all.
We have a thread for this in the Lore, actually, so let's discuss it there!

Dinokkiin = Death Born, this would make a good storyline with a "good" Dovahkiin fighting a "bad" Dinokkiin.
In my opinion...
