Biggest Skyrim Regrets
What's something that you wish you had never done in Skyrim? Something where either you didn't save beforehand or simply realized your mistake later.
I've been very cautious so far in Skyrim, and haven't done too many debatable things, such as killing innocent NPCs.

Re: Biggest Skyrim Regrets
I haven't played that far into the game, but I must say I felt rather sorry when I let Orthorn slip out of my view somehow when I was distracted battling some rogue mages. When I turned around, he was lying dead. I regret not being there to save him.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
But why bounce around to the same damn song?
You'd rather run when you can't crawl...

Attacking Sahloknir right away - I missed some nice talk with Alduin.
Helping Madanach escape Cidhna Mine.
Letting nearly the whole of Riverwood kill themselves over a sword i threw on the ground - okay, I actually reloaded..
May be more. Okay, there IS more, but I'ts all I remember for the moment.

Assuming that the Stormcloaks were automatically the good guys because I always side with the rebels in situations like that.
Rushing through the whole game the first time through. I did it because I didn't want anyone else to spoil it for me, but looking back, I should've taken my time and enjoyed it.
Thinking magic was for cowards my first time through and ignoring it completely. I died so many times because I ignored my healing spells.
Wasting all my money on training.
Dual wielding in light armor on Adept difficulty.

I died constantly. It might be that I'm terrible at the game, but I found myself dying in almost every fight I got into without the defensive bonuses of a shield, or the all around protection of heavy armor. Of course, that was before I realized I could sidestep power attacks.Dovahkiin1 wrote:Why do you regret this? Using the 'Fortify Restoration' glitch to create insane Fortify Smithing potions. Enchanting my weapons and armor with Fortify Enchanting potions was not a problem, but improving them with those Smithing potions completely gimped the game.
Now, I use 'normally' smithed items. The game is much more fun.

Wanting to get the Windhelm quest.
God, Blood on the Ice is like Skyrim's version of Adarjhi's Heirloom, except you could actually start Adarjhi's Heirloom without running into a bug.

I like to use the fortify restoration glitch once on each character on an amulet and make Its enchantment around the 300's. Then name it with the name of one of the divines and act like it was blessed by the gods.writemikep wrote:Using the 'Fortify Restoration' glitch to create insane Fortify Smithing potions. Not intervening in Roggvir's execution. I was doing a DB contract when I first visited Solitude and thought it was best to stay under the radar and not draw the guards' attention by saving the guy. But later I felt genuinely guilty about it, especially when I talked to his family and little niece and realised how much it had affected them. So I sought out his coffin in the Hall of the Dead and laid a flower on it

Actually, I regret not finishing the quest sooner. Eventually I just decided to look up the locations and get them all out of the way, because I was carrying around an extra 10 pounds or so that would be better for loot. And then I actually completed it, and holy crap I have a mountain of rubies.born2beagator wrote:I second this.Red Guardian wrote:Starting the "No Stone Unturned" quest.

Murdering the entire township of Solitude. Actually, there has been no negative effects yet (besides a 38,000 gold bounty- it was bigger before I killed the witnesses) but I'm sure there will be.

I third this. Bad, bad quest design.born2beagator wrote:I second this.Red Guardian wrote:Starting the "No Stone Unturned" quest.
1. It gets lots of crap with weight stuck in your inventory for a long time.
2. You'll have to manually keep track where you found the quest items, else you end up needing to re-check ALL locations.
3. It forces you to do the mainquest to get the last quest item.
4. The reward is overpowered. You find so many gems that it's no longer worth your while to pickup any other loot you plan to sell.
With my current character I make sure I don't start this.

Re: Biggest Skyrim Regrets
Count me in. I even made the two additional mistakes with this quest: first, I went to find out what they are, and after that they didn't stack anymore. Second, I then found out that one is located in Thalmor Embassy, and you can't enter it anymore in later game, and what do you think, did I collect that one in my early game? Of course not, and that's why I had tons of stones stuck in my inventory foreverSuperNull wrote:I third this.born2beagator wrote:I second this.Red Guardian wrote:Starting the "No Stone Unturned" quest.
"No Stone Unturned" is Skyrim's version of Oblivion's "Seeking Your Roots", except you only needed 100 out of around 300 nirnroots available to complete "Seeking Your Roots", now you will need all 24 stones to complete this. Both are unbelievably irritating quests. I never completed "Seeking Your Roots" in Oblivion, and I will never complete "No Stone Unturned", and with my current characters I try to avoid to grab those gems by any means necessary
Luckily, they do not weight anything as a quest items (the game shows their weight, but they are not counted; check by yourself by placing all of you stuff to some container, having only stucked quest items, and your carrying weight is zero).SuperNull wrote: 1. I fully agree with those other points. For any player wanting to keep their nerves, never ever take any "unusual gem".

Re: Biggest Skyrim Regrets
The 1.4 patchnotes say they did fix this by making the gem accessible after the Embassy quest.MaKo wrote: I then found out that one is located in Thalmor Embassy, and you can't enter it anymore in later game, and what do you think, did I collect that one in my early game? But.. you most probably still bug the game if you manage to get in there before you get the quest.

Re: Biggest Skyrim Regrets
I definitely regret having accidentally killed my bff Brelyna during There was so much happening all at once and as a mage, I had to seek cover behind the rocks, so I didn't see when I hit her I just threw the fireball.
No matter the cost of gold I had to pay for that to the college, my heart will always be heavy with the loss of my friend. So I have a shrine dedicated in her honor in my Solitude home. One of the mannequins wears her robes, and I always drop flowers around it. I couldn't go back to an earlier save because I had no idea what happened when it did.
And I also regret buying a horse. I don't have the heart to kill him or just let him die when we fast travel into places. So damn annoying to have him following me around.
ALSO...that stupid No Stone Unturned quest. All the crap I cannot take out of inventory weighs me down. I wish this wasn't the case, you should be able to drop or store things after you complete the quests or even if you don't want to finish them. That bugs me the most about this game.

I can't stand that "Seeking Your Roots" quest. I killed Sinderion in Oblivion just because of it. Thank God he wasn't essential."No Stone Unturned" is Skyrim's version of Oblivion's "Seeking Your Roots"
Then, in Skyrim...
