Gaulderson Scumbag Sonofab----

Post by boltonbrowne »

Okay, does anyone know how to kill the 2nd gaulderson brother, Sigdis?

The first time I killed him it was fairly easy to tell which ones were the doppelgangers, in between being "FUS RO DA'd" across the room.

This time, it's just crazy. Now there are 4 of them - and they're all [&@%!] ghosts. No sooner to I run up to one and cast Elemental Fury, it's "FUS RO DAH!" from 3 of them, and Disarm from the 4th. I lose my sodding sword and I'm back across the room, 20 miles away again. And then they all vanish.

[&@%!].

I beat the first Sigdis in Geirmund's Hall by giving him a return cup of his own [&@%!] "Fus Ro Dah" until he died.

I just can't get near these guys. If I'm lucky enough to do so, I kill the clone, look up and see yet another combined Unrelenting force. And then I take 20 arrows in the as*hole while I'm trying to get up.

This is more than just a pain in the ass...it's [&@%!] [&@%!] CANCER.

Somebody help me before I get on the Oregon Trail and die of dysentery. Please.

Turn the difficulty down to Novice, jump around like a mexican jumping bean on a jackrabbit on a kangaroo on a pogostick, hit the real Sidgis fast and hard, jump away, and repeat.

Please go re-read the rules. It says not to bypass the swear filter.
Otherwise, turn it down to Novice, and go in swords swinging, and make sure you got lots of potions.

The real Gaulderson has a different helmet than the others. Ignore them and hit him.

Another thing is, the real one has an enchanted bow with, I believe, drain magicka. So if the real one hits you with an arrow you can trace the effect back to him. Or at least that's what I did. Never noticed he had a different helmet. :X

Your best bet is going ranged against him.
  • Stand at the end of the room where you came in so you can use the columns for cover.
  • Figure out which one is the real one (he has a helm with horns that curve downward instead of up).
  • Pick off two of the fakes (reduces incoming damage, and taking out all 3 will cause him to call 3 new ones).
  • Pile the damage onto the real one and repeat the process as he pops in and out.

I took him down pretty easily with archery...I never had a character that was pure melee so I can't help you on how to wack him with a sword...

When he teleports I just blew a stream of fire around to kill the doppelgangers and single him out- I avoid his Fus Ro Dah and give him one of my own, and Marked For Death was helpful too- I have 2 of the armor piercing mace perks so my Mace of Molag Bal, along with Marked For Death, laid a smackdown on him quickly.

OK, I found the answer to taking him out in melee.

Wards.

Cast the "Lesser Ward" just as you hear the "FUS" from the draugr. It will be fully charged and active by the time the "RO DAH" comes in.

Unrelenting force has no power over a ward, and so the force energy will just rush straight past you. You will also take no damage.

This saves you enough time to use "SU GRAH DUN" (Elemental Fury) and shred Sigdis between teleportations.

Yes, he is quite annoying enemy. I have had a few fights against him with different characters. In general, ranged attacks are the best. If you don't have a good one, stay near one selected teleport point, and wait the real one to teleport on that. Other times, play time, dodge arrows and such.

I found Brelyna from College very useful for this fight. Together you can make two Flame Atronachs (or three, if you happen to have Conjuration Twin Souls perk; or you can make Storm Atronach(s), anyways, a creature with ranged attack), and she is an archer. This means that the fakes will disappear quickly, after what you can concentrate all the fire on the real one.

I beat him with a melee character, no shouts, on Master. Of course, I was level 42 with legendary double-enchanted Dragonscale armor. The trick was the helmet--and lots of healing potions.
