Which Mer would you like to see return in full-glory?
Just out of curiosity, which Mer would you like to see return to their full-glory? The Dwemer up-and-disappeared in the 7th Century, 1E, the Ayleids were driven into extinction, and the Falmer were driven into near-ruin deep underground.
My interest would be with the Dwemer. So much technology and knowledge, and a warrior-like quality to them.

Also going with the Ayleids. Their architecture and cultural lore as presented in Oblivion was very compelling.
As for the Dwemer, of course they're very interesting, but I think writing them large into the world would cheapen the feeling of exoticism when interacting with the remnants of their culture (the otherworldly technology in particular). Though, the same could be said of all the vanished Mer, really, Ayleids included. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, etc.

It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better... while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours much more. -Woody Allen

The Falmer of course. The Dwemer were secular pricks who were involved in a great number of monstrosities against the Falmer, the Ayleids enslaved the enire human race, what was the Falmers' crime? Defending their homeland from Atmoran invaders.

^ Yeah but because of only 2 or so races they want to destroy everything now. The Falmers returning (let's assume they build a huuuuuuuuuuge army) it would mean death to pretty much everyone. Even people who never really did anything bad to them.
The Dwemers were pricks, sure, but I'd like to see them back. They just vanished... This needs to be explored further.

The Falmer weren't attacked first, they slaughtered the humans that were living at peace with them because they were going to over-populate the area. They got what was coming for them.OblivionDuruza wrote:The Falmer of course. But more to the point I suppose, I would like a future TES game to have a Dwemer plot line with them returning and killing everything in sight. The Falmer returning would be pretty much the same thing.
... and OUT comes the intestines! And I skip rope with them!

Oh please don't make this into another racially charged thread; I've had enough of them around here.
They were very unique, all things considered, and I would love to see them explored more...but the mystery is, I admit, part of their charm.
I agree. Although I wouldn't call the Dwemer pricks per se. They were scientific, advanced, and technologically minded mer who saw beyond what they considered to be a humdrum example of "how life was." Plus, anyone who can challenge a Daedric Prince is pretty badass, if you ask me! What's not to respect about that?Red Guardian wrote:The Dwemers were pricks, sure, but I'd like to see them back. Dwemer; they're just awesome. They appeared to have been independent of Alinor long before even the Ayleids cut direct ties.

Maormer for me..not on the list and not extinct but haven't been seen in many years. Apparently masters of Serpent Magic as well as naval warfare. Would be interesting to behold.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Now that's an idea I could swing with Pilaf. Like you say, they never disappeared or went extinct, but like the Imga, they're a race that we've never really seen explored, but which hold a lot of potential awesomeness about them, IMO.

Yeah, the Imga! Forgot about them.
But since they aren't mer...

Just think, the Falmer return to prominence under a real leader and they use Dwemer technology!

Well, the technology is certainly at their fingertips, and they were once a very intelligent and noble people. Maybe they could figure out how to use it to their advantage. They've become very feral though.Incarnal wrote:Just think, the Falmer return to prominence under a real leader and they use Dwemer technology!
