Trimmed and reworded? As all words are in multiple dictionaries? That may be so, but apparently someone considers it a real word. Just because it's not in Webster doesn't mean it's not real, just means it's such an obscure word that even Mr. Webster doesn't care about it.

In any case, I'd say iss real, since its on the internets, and everything is real on teh netz (Except girls.. all traps)

But who considers it a real word, that's the question. From the looks of it, the answer is: no-one but the webmaster of that website. Google doesn't care about it, Websters doesn't care about it, Websters v 1.0 doesn't care about it, American Heritage doesn't care about it, Cambridge University doesn't care about it, heck, even Dictionary.com and Wikipedia don't care about it! There are no sources for nelipot outside of these random, unreferenced "whacky word" websites, two of which are probably just copying off the third.
In any case, I'd say iss real, since its on the internets, and everything is real on teh netz (Except girls.. all traps)
Exactly. It's on the net, and since "everything is real on the internets", that's all the more reason to demand this word account for itself.

the "Ms. Byrnes" in question seems to be
http://www.amazon.com/Byrnes-Dictionary ... 1559722339

who doesn't seem to be held in high regard by that forum community. I guess I'll have to side with Doros on this one

PS: I've heard cromulent being used often enough that I'm willing to accept it as a real word

I wonder if people said the same thing about words we now consider common.

EVERY word, at some point or another, was just simply made up.

Let them have their word.

Except that this word was probably never common. If a person makes up a word, and then nobody else ever uses it, it's still not a real word. Much as I hate to admit that I didn't fully research my question :o

It even has origins... bah, I refuse to deny it it's word-hood! I'ma use it.. tons! And and..and.. I'ma get it in Webster!!!

NELIPOT!!

There once was a man who's a nelipot
But one day this man, he forgot
Exactly what it was he was doing
While his little kitten was mewing
And so it did happen
That he was ne'er wrappin
His feet with a shoe
Of this, of course, we all knew

But that was Point One- "they" don't have the word. The entire nelipot using community consists of one or two people on Deviant Art and some random forum goers who promptly dismissed the word as balderdash.*

Like I said before, I'm a big fan of functional vernacular English, and I'll be the first to champion the legitimacy of pwn and crunk over words like, I dunno, perspicuous and apodictic. But compared to nelipot, apodictic is a record-setting YTMND meme.

*and now you, apparently. Good luck with that! :)

Again, I'm sorry about sounding rude in my last post, it was just the disturbing image is all! Also, it's not an excuse for me being rude, but the reason I didn't give you a full explanation earlier was just a matter of me not having time at the moment. I think I spent almost 1/2 hour just now writing this post and double checking my math. I understand if you're still offended enough that you just never want to respond to me, but that was totally not my intention, and I realize I was pretty careless about how I worded my response. When I said you were confused, I didn't mean your math was off, because actually you made a good point, you showed why Arotos's post had nothing to do with the situation at hand. What I meant to say, and didn't say at all in any good way, was that I was not supporting Arotos's idea, and that the probability was different for another reason. I know I should have said it more clearly, and shouldn't have posted in a rush, and shouldn't have focused just on the strange images I got from your post, and I know I screwed up. Sorry. I can tell you're smart, and I'm flattered that you were willing to put so much time into a problem I only posted as a joke to get Ayoub to stop posting nonsense, and the last thing I'd want is for my mistake to make you leave this thread on bad terms.
On the contrary. There is very little that takes more courage than making a full and unreserved apology. It would be mean spirited and beneath my dignity were I unwilling to accept such. Thank you, Deandra, for your apology, for my part, all is forgiven. I have no hard feelings now, and understand why you posted as you did; we can begin again, tabula rasa.

I certainly didn’t mean to put you, or anyone, off with explicit biological imagery. Since I believe that the fact that the husband, in your question, will have completely recycled his store of sperm cells by the time the second child is conceived, I wanted to illustrate in some detail, why this would be so. We can leave that behind with everything else now, as the internet certainly has many other sites, not related at all to uesp.net, where one can find...>ahem<..., well, you know.

I appreciated your setting a problem before us which required taxing effort on our part, in terms of biology, reproduction, and inheritance. I like a challenge, so I took it on. I just felt that, as I put in a great deal of effort, that that effort merited a fully acknowledged response. Since your skills at probability analysis far exceed mine, I cannot, in fairness, offer any suitable critique of the explanation, using probability analysis, that you provide. I know enough to recognize it as an impressive mathematical performance, though. Thank you for taking the time to explain your reasoning.

Be well; we shall, I hope, meet again.

I think we're going to need another hint. I thought I had it until you posted the second pic!

Maybe one that doesn't rely on pictures, like an oblique trivia reference?

Sorry forgot it hadn't been answered, or I'da given another hint sooner XD

This pictured amn is the star of the movie, which gained a cult following similar to Rocky Horror Picture Show, though, of course, not nearly as large (Nothing can compare to the RHPS following..)

I am going to take a wild guess, revive this topic, and say Shock Treatment.

That actor pictured doesn't look like he's from the 80s, but hey, this topic is too young to die.
I missed it here.

Nopers, the movie was released in 1998, and I believe that pic is from about the same time.

The pictured person is the star AND director of the movie.

If this isn't answered by about 11:30 AM PST tomorrow I'll answer it and let someone else ask a q.

Holy $#$@, did that take me a while to figure out! I thought that with all the clues you gave, it should be easy enough to dig up, but the movie was released in 2001, which made me waste more time than I probably should have expended on this trivia question. Also, the fact that I've never seen the movie didn't help...

Well, in ArotosMarkos world, v. means vituperation. And how dare you vituperate this forum with that vituperative remark!
I missed it here.

Well, I have always seen w/ used to represent “with”. So I guess “w/e” must mean “with e”. “E” as in the name of the letter, said out loud, I’ve often heard used to mean “ecstasy” – so, therefore, I would assume, on encountering it, that w/e would mean  “with ecstasy”. :!: Now before anyone gets the wrong idea, let’s just say that I mean “[to do] something in an ecstatic manner”, when I say “with ecstasy”.

 Yeah, that’s the ticket. Yeah...

EEP!

Uh oh...sorry, but I didn’t see this until now. That will teach me to not log in for a day. ;)

Anyway, a general trivia question.... I guess I should ask first how general? Like a factoid from any topic or area of study at all? And how hard to you want it? With a topic this potentially vast, and members interests so varied, it seems that almost anyone could ask a “stumper” from specific, obscure fields, of which only they know. So please give me a little guidance folks. Thanks. :)

Anything at all that you absolutely fancy, provided it's within forum rules! The whole Universe, and beyond, is your oyster!

If it's too hard, we can always ask for clues!! :D
