War on Harvest

[POMC S117]

John began to tap rapidly on some buttons. The elevator began moving.

[Eltee]

"Thank god!" Haley exclaimed.

[POMC S117]

"Get your guns ready. We can expect heavy resistance from the armoury, which will also be connected to the barracks."

[Eltee]

Haley reloaded her rifle, and brought it up to a ready stance. "Phew."

[POMC S117]

John threw his rucksack to the ground and took out some pieces of metal, a battery and a canister. he began rapidly putting them together in an odd fashion. "I'd get your helmets secured. This is a smoke grenade but it may be poisonous. It'll give us a chance to get to the pod bay with relative ease and choe any pursuers."

[Eltee]

Haley replied only with a pneumatic hiss as she sealed her visor.

[POMC S117]

The doors opened and then there was a bang, a slight hiss and silence, other than the chocking of Brutes. "Go go go!" He screamed, running through the trail of smoke.

[Eltee]

Haley sprinted after him, stopping only to swing the but of her rifle into the face of the nearest brute, buckling the great primate's face mask.

[POMC S117]

The brute fell back and angrily scrambled around. John opened fire and charged through a door into a wide corridor that only had one other door at the other side. "Take point! I'll try to see if I can get these working."

[Eltee]

"I'll cover you!" Haley said, raking the Brutes with 7.62mm FMJ rounds.

[POMC S117]

The brutes fell to the floor, deterring others momentarily. John surveyed the room. He saw dead Elite. A fireteam must have cut through here. "AI, open one of the pod doors."

A door slid open, revealing a seat and some buttons. John dragged the Elite over to the door and, using its hand, pressed a button. An airy voice announced that the pods on that one side were activated. "Great! Every one in!"

[Eltee]

Haley immediately piled in.

[Sav]

Adam, with a little hesitation, also moved in.

[POMC S117]

John went into his pod. "AI, where will these pods take us?"

"Somewhere outside Utgard, I believe."

"Is everybody in?" They answered yes. "Okay! Three! Two! One! AI, drop us!"

[Sav]

"Utgard, ha, i once lived there, you know. Shame to see my home planet so destroyed." Adam mumbled.

[POMC S117]

"Thank god I send my family to Reach!" Shouted John, teeth chattering as they rocketed away from the ship. "Admiral, shields are down! Hit it with everything you've got!"

Two frigates went into formation behind the Pillar Autumn and then soared up to the ship. "MAC rounds charging! Fire!"

There was a loud noise as three yellow beams struck the Covenant cruiser. On impact, the ship split in half.

[John117]

Marcus jumped at the sound. "That is not something I would like to hear again. Now, what is Utgard?"

[Eltee]

Spoiler:

THEY ARE NOT BEAMS! AHH! TAKE IT BACK!

TAKE IT BACK!

It's a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. It shoots a small projectile at unthinkable speeds, which creates unthinkable amounts of kinetic energy (about the equivalent of a small nuclear weapon, fifteen kilotons, if I remember correctly.

The extreme friction the small round creates makes a thunder-like crack and heats the molecules to a degree that it resembles a yellow beam. IT IS NOT!

Haley whistled. "Thank God for the UNSC navy."

[DerangedPickle]

Spoiler:

It looks like a yellow beam, it would kill the description if he gave a technical desription methinks.

"I'm glad thats over with, less Covvies to worry about, and hopefully this will help the retreat." Patrick said to the team.
"So now we're not in combat and instead in these horrible pods again, how about a chat." He could almost feel the sick rising in his throat.

[POMC S117]

Spoiler:

Pickles is right. This is from John's POV.

Suddenly, the blackness became filled with purple and blue portals. Hundreds of ships of all sizes and description flew out of them, opening fire on the UNSC ships. One of the frigates was blown to pieces, taken down in a barrage of plasma. The other frigate managed to open a slipspace portal and get out of the battle field. The Pillar of Autumn fired the remaining MAC guns and also opened a slipspace portal. Three corvettes followed the Pillar of Autumn through space but the bulk of the ships remained in orbit around Harvest.

[Eltee]

"We jinxed it." Haley said glumly.

[Sav]

Adam kicked the side of the pod in anger, cussing aloud. He looked up at the Covenants, and watched.

[POMC S117]

"John, this is Admiral Yakuta! I've had to take the Pillar of Autumn to Arcadia! I'm linking up with their fleet in a few days and then we'll be back. You'll have to get to Utgard and assist with getting the MAC guns operational. It should help with evac."

John grimaced as the pods burst into the upper atmosphere of Harvest. He felt the pod heat up rapidly and glow slightly orange.

[Eltee]

"If this stupid covie pod explodes on reentry, I'm gonna come back and haunt you, John." Haley said, her teeth rattling from the violence of the vibrations wracking the pod.

[POMC S117]

"It'll hold..." He said before adding quietly. "Hopefully."
