Well, there are a lot of mods that I'm looking forward to in Skyrim. Some are big, and some are small.
I definitely want an expanded magic mod, much like Midas Magic or Mighty Magicka from Oblivion. The spells are fairly limited in Skyrim (No water-walking? Really?), so I could really use some more.
I also want a weapons mod that adds more variety to the weapons in the game. Even alternate textures will be fine. I also really want spears, crossbows, and throwing knives to return.
The mod I want the most is an expanded enemy mod, like MMM for Oblivion. The enemies in Skyrim get extremely repetitive - seriously, how many wolves can there be? I want some foes brought back from Morrowind and Oblivion. It would be cool to have alternate enemy textures as well, because I want every enemy to be individual.
I know it's a lot to ask, and I know these mods won't exist until way after the Creation Kit comes out, but I think that Skyrim needs a lot more variety in its magic, weapons, armor, and especially creatures.
Oh yeah. And a journal mod too. Great for roleplaying.

I concur, I spent so many hours just writing in-game in Oblivion after installing Kyoma's Journal Mod.
Any mods that expand and build upon immersion is what I'm waiting for. I don't like it when you know how everything works in a game, I like finding new things and seeing new things everyday.
As it is now you have one menu for everything you favourite and if you have a lot, you end up scrolling for it anyway. What I would love to see is for the favourites menu (I am referring to the quick access one you bring up by pressing "C") is to have it open four windows (identical to the one it does now) each of these menu's separates the favourites items into "Weapons" "Amour & Clothing" "Magic" and "Shouts". Basically it would function the same way it does now. You press "C" and four quick access favourites menu's pop up with all your favourited items, spell etc. sorted so each list is as short as possible.
Really the favourites menu doesn't have to be small or compact. The whole idea of the menu is for the spells/items and shouts necessary to your play style to be as easily, and quickly accessible as possible.
A mod getting a lot of colliders tighter around the rendered objects.
yah, I realize that this would be a very huge undertaking, and would take a very, very (did I mention very?), long time to actually do, as it would involve basically remodeling the whole game, heh.
A mod that lets you craft arrows would be nice too.
So I would like to try to get into modding at least a little bit for Skyrim, and had a few ideas on things I would like to try. First among them, is creating buildings/houses. I know that seems to be a common one, but I'm hoping that that means that it is sort of easy. If I find that I am decent at house making, I think it would be good to place houses in the smaller towns that you can purchase.
The other mod that I want to make, and this might be ambitious, not sure, or it could be my lack of modding skills. I would like to try to make every, or at least most houses in the game purchasable. Perhaps the occupant is looking to sell the house when you meet them. Maybe they were killed in a dragon attack and the house is empty. Maybe you just like the house and want it. Whatever the scenario, I think it would be cool to wind up with the deed to their house, that you can take to the respective Jarl/Steward and pay the sum and the house, and everything in it is yours. Again, I don't know if that is too ambitious, but I think that would be pretty cool, without being game breaking. The idea of just getting the deed and the house is yours is too easy, but getting the deed, making sure the person is out of the way (and maybe if they like you enough they'll sell anyway) and then having to pay for it seems fair.

The good news: making a player home is straightforward and easy to figure out. In fact that is exactly what I did for my very first mod ever. At least, I assume that once the CK is released, it'll be very similar to how it was in Oblivion--you clone an existing interior cell, set the ambient lighting, strip out all of the existing objects, throw an interior building mesh in, drag and drop furniture and clutter, place an exterior house mesh in the world somewhere, add 2 teleporting doors so you can get in and out, and you're pretty much done.
The bad news: Making all houses sellable via the Jarls' stewards will involve a HUGE amount of scripting. You'd have to set ownership of the homes and everything in them and check for all sorts of edge cases to avoid nasty bugs, not to mention coding up the conversation options in a way that won't give you 100 different house-buying topics every time you try to talk to the steward. I would highly recommend first trying to script a player's ability to buy a single NPC-owned home from the steward, and get a better understanding of what is actually involved. Dealing with NPC AI was tricky in Oblivion, and I bet that it will only be more complicated in Skyrim due to all of the improvements they've made.
I read the whole tread just to make sure I did not repeat anyone's idea. So here we Go...
I want to try and start modding when the CK comes out and I want to make or have some one make a survival mod. Not just a eat sleep and drink mod but also having to make fires to keep warm on cold skyrim nights in the wilds. I want to make the wilderness seem more wild and uninhabited. Also the ability to craft stuff like cooking pots and tents to camp out in the wilderness would be sweat.
Also I would love to see more of the mountains surrounding skyrim as far as I have experienced they are not very flushed out.
to sum it all up Hardcore Survival with more places to explore.
Got my SKYRIM fix for today. Life is good.
My new Skyrim Let's Play. The adventures of the Loveable Rogue, Mattrim.
Rebuild Winterhold:
Excellent idea, kudos to whoever first came up with that You get to become Arch-Mage don't you? Rebuilding the college would be a great next step.
Fishing:
I bought my home in Riften and found these nice fishing rods on the porch. How sad was I when I realised they did nothing? Of course I spent ages moving back and forward just to be sure it wasn't a problem with cursor targeting.
Atronach Forge expansion:
I'd like to be able to turn scrolls into spell tomes. Scroll + ruined book + appropriate pelt = tome. Where "appropriate pelt" would be something suitable for the spell class and level, but dragon scales should always work.
Bibliophile:
I am addicted to collecting books. I'd love to see a mod that helped me track them. When I see a new book it should list it as "Book Title (unknown)". Once I pick it up it should list it as "Book Title (unread)" and if I page through to the last page it should list it as just "Book Title". It would also be nice if Skill Books told you they were skill books but only activated on the final page. Then I could trigger them at suitable moments. Sitting in the porch, looking over the lake?
Permanent Equipping:
Although a mage I carry a sword and it looks great hanging off my belt. I wish I could make it permanent, so it didn't disappear just because I am casting Ironflesh or Fireball.
Don't Touch That:
I would like some way to warn my follower about traps I've spotted. Mjoll, for example, seems quite happy to stand on fire trap even when its active! I imagine you'd need some way to clear it as well. Maybe they simply wouldn't be remembered beyond the last order or last zone change.
Saves Filtered by Character:
I'd like a mod that separated different character Saves more cleanly. When you click "Save" it would only show Saves for the existing character to stop you accidentally copying over the wrong thing. When you click "Load" it would only show saves for the current character unless you clicked "Chose different character" where you would get a list of characters to chose from.
Another thing I thought of would be making carriages more expensive and have you ride them in real time. It should be feasible considering that is what the intro is. and with real time riding the ability to jump off and any time to fight bandits. people in the game always are complaining on how dangerous the roads are I think it is time to make them so.

My new Skyrim Let's Play. The adventures of the Loveable Rogue, Mattrim.
Okay, after playing for a couple of months and thinking about it both seriously and way out in left field, here are some ideas I have had.
Weathertop
There is a nice lonely peak right next to Swindler's Den that I think would be great to put a ruined foundation on, have a campsite with a choping block and a campire nearby along with an alchemy table. It twould be great for living out all the Ranger/Aragorn/Strider fantasies. Without the hobbits of course, as bosmer don't count (or do they???)
A Mage's Tower
I love playing as a Mage and although I never had Frostcrag Spire for Oblivion I would love one for Skyrim. Of course it doesn't have to be a tower. Maybe an oppulent cave or a hidden grove and hut in the wilderness. Just a cool place a mage can call home.
Destruction Perks
I myself am content enough without the ability to craft my own spells but saying that, I wouldn't mind a third tier to the Augmented Flame, Frost, Shock perks. Myself I would put it at 90 at least (maybe Master?) and give another 50% boost so that Destruction spells are doing double damage. Or if someone were to revamp the whole tree, I wouldn't mind 5 levels to each school (fire, frost, shock) just like the melee skills (at 0, 20, 40, 60, 80). Make someone like me really roleplay by basicaly forcing me to choose one type of destruction skill.
Oh, and can someone fix the runes and wall spells so that they benefit from the Augmented Perks?
Merchants
I can't be the only one who would like it if different merchants actually had different prices, can I? I mean for instance, in Whiterun, you have Warmaiden's. Wouldn't it be great if they gave a discount to ladies? General stores should buy everything, yes, but should also give lower prices. If you want the best money for your potions, go to an Alchemist. Smiths pay best for weapons and armor. And so on and so forth.
Masamune
I really, really, really want a two-handed unenchated katana. Preferably more. Actually, since this is a wish-list, let's say I would like 3 or 4 levels of ordinary quality (say equal to dwarven, elven, glass and ebony) and one that you need to go on a quest for, which would be higher quality than daedric. And why not call it masamune? Sorry, too much Final Fantasy in my younger days. (And Dragon Quest, Crono Trigger, Secret of Mana... well, Square and Enix. You get the drift.)
Those are some ideas. Maybe I'll post more another time.
J'Ghasta from Oblivion was, for me, the best martial artist ever. Below him only the Ancient Moths.
In Arena you could even kick the foes, not sure about Daggerfall. Here's an idea: Add an skill of unarmed combat (that works). Put some stunts in there, like different punches, jabs, uppercuts, roundhouse kicks, headbutts....
Nothing really too fancy like bycicle kicks, we don't another Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Mortal Kombat in Skyrim.
Doesn't really matter to me because I'm on console, but I would like to see a thing like that.
A mod that makes the Argonian hair options from Oblivion available would be pretty neat. Fins are cool.
YES. Yes, a thousand times.
Additionally, I want a mod where you can get a horse from your follower, and tell your follower to ride on the horse. A paradox I found in Skyrim is that you can't have a follower and a horse at the same time.

I would like a Muad'Dib dragon shout. Either as a replacer for an existing shout or as an acquirable standalone one. Maybe even some word walls; you know, legit like.

One mod I really want to make because I think it would go really well with my mage character is a Nethack equipment mod. For any of you that haven't played or even heard of this game, it's a rouge-like hack and slash dungeon crawler where your goal is to find equipment in aforementioned dungeon and use it to no die (this is sooooooooo much easier said than done). I have been obsessed with this game for the past 5 years or so and really want to make a skyrim mod around it.
I'm working on an Azura's Star Home. I already have furnishings in the "house" and a necklace called Azura's Necklace that teleports you inside of the "house".
Next up will be working on the quest to go along with it! This is my first time modding, so it may take a while.
I know I've seen this idea around here before, but couldn't find it in this thread. I want to give credit where credit is due. If any of you recall who it was (or if it was you), let me know...Edit: It was The Tom should I be scared?

Spoiler:
I thought it was a bit of a shame that you couldn't go back to Azura's star once the quest was over. That place had such great design work. I'm thinking of making a 'portable house' mod that allows you to live inside the star. It would be a basic house, so as not to be unbalanced towards the houses in towns, but I like the idea of being able to live in such a well-designed place.
