What is YOUR favorite race? And why?

Not even a question my favorite is Breton, least favorite is Orc. Bretons because I just think the whole man-mer concept is sick, I love the resistance to magicka and just playing with them in general best fits my gameplay.

Did I not explain that just because they have mer ancestry. . they're an entirely different race. A race classified as "MAN". lmao.

Ya haha didn't see it but I do know that they're only elven in aincestry. I just think it's interesting for that to have ever happened, considering how mer (obviously) dislike men and how IMO the Bretons look absolutely nothing like elves

Like I said in another thread, I believe it was is TES General, I can't really choose a race.

I like them all. Played with them all (at least in Oblivion). I don't know what race to choose...

Bretons, Dunmers, Nords and Altmers are awesome though...

Strangely, it's possible to make a quite attractive female orc in Skyrim... If it wasn't for the slightly-oversized lower teeth and green skin, you'd never know she wasn't some Forsworn or Nord maiden.

Also, the whole moon and different variations thing is pretty interesting, and, this may be just because of the wiki, their culture seems more interesting than the elves or men. Or at least less typical.

I have never picked races because of their race bonus...

When I play a fantasy RPG, I almost always play beast races if they are available.

I like bretons for the lore more than the abilities. The abilities are just a bonus.

Yeah, this one is well aware of your breton love, but if it were to case for everyone, they'd be higher in the Oblivion/Morrowind polls

The surge in popularity certainly isn't because of new High Rock lore...because there isn't any really...
But I will add what I said before, with the racials being the reason for the surge; it may also be the case that people are turning from the Altmer because of the Thalmor and looking to the next mage-centric race for a 'feel good about yourself' fix

Honestly people never seemed to like altmer much, at least not in oblivion. It was dunmer, nords, argonians and khajiit that seemed to be on top.

i think the two best races (for my gameplay) are the Dunmer and the Imperials. Why? Because the Imperials can be so bad-ass if you put time into them. I think the coolest character I've ever seen in ANY videogame is my own from Oblivion. Dunmer because they look cool, and there lore is so rich playing as them is irresistible.
Then again, I think teh former statement is rendered irrelevant because almost any character can be bad-ass if you put the time into them. Still, Imperials are the best.

I've always had a fondness for the dunmer above all others for the same reason as many that feel this way. Up until now I rather indifferent about the other races and cultures but be aide of skyrim I have a new found fondness for the orsimer, nords and altmer. Needless to say I voted for dunmer but those three come a very reasonable second.

If only tes4 did the same for the imperials.

In terms of lore, my favorite race would be the Dunmer but I usually play as an Imperial or a Nord. I may later convert to Mer, but unlikely.

I like the dunmer race. I don't know why. But I have on my character, some ebony boots of fire abatement. So it adds 60% resistance to fire, now, I can be a flaming walking torch, and not die!

I quite like the bosmer for a combination of their aesthetic and that their racial skill is terrible.

Whenever I play a race with an amazing racial, I feel like I'm cheating myself if I don't use it, but I never want to use it...just in case. Also, disease resistance is quite nice.

I normally tell myself that the Bosmer has a terrible racial power until I get attacked by two Saber Cats, or when I have a mammoth helping me fight its' giant masters. It's highly situational, but I wouldn't say it's awful.

My two favorite races are dunmer and bretons. For dark elves, I really enjoyed Morrowind and I love the dark elves' lore. As for bretons, I like playing as a mage/tank character, and they pretty good at that playstyle.

Khajiit. I love the challenge of a stealth character, I love their manner of speaking, and especially in Skyrim, the way they look is fantastic!

Both. Lore has them as sneaky, and militarily reclusive. And their skills generally lean towards that role.

It is in the Lore, as in their home of Valenwood they are 'savage' and self reliant to survive.

I think the Skyrim Thieves Guild is fitting of that character, unlike the Cyrodiil Guild would have been. And the Companions would be a good faction for that character too.
