If not, I just tell the Skingrad Mages Guild that he was experimenting and got himself killed.

It sort of depends on if you were sudenly transported to Tamriel, or if you were born and rasied there. There have been quite a few takes here. Some have replied how they play the game, some have replied how they relate to themselves. Keep in mind, that if Tamriel was real, you wouldn't have the scripted AI to make things easy for you.

From other topics, there are several who train in Kendo, or other Martial Arts styles. Quite a few have an interest in swords. However, there is a quite a difference from training, and actual combat.

Yeah there's one thing that is really annoying: when you kill someone's wife/husband (without being seen), they just don't do anything. They just walk past the body.
Sometimes, when I talk to them, they say something like
"I live here in the IC, happily with my husband".

I think I would pick sides with the Thieves Guild. I mean, c'mon, easy money is good money. I got the lockpicking, pickpocketing thing under my belt (troubled childhood...) And I've always been told I walk very silently. Seriously, It'd be easy. I never saw a guard use either night-eye or Detect Life, so I'd be set.

That would be bad for business, wouldn't it. All those beggars around. ;) As a matter of fact, there's a "Beggars Guild." ;)
The Eslaf Erol Series; Beggar wrote:'May I have something to eat?' Eslaf asked this tavernkeeper. 'I'm very hungry.'

'You're lucky I don't cook you up and eat you,' replied the tavernkeeper.

Eslaf hurriedly left the tavern. For the rest of the day, the boy approached the good citizens of Erolgard, begging for food. One person had thrown something at him, but it turned out to be an inedible rock.

As night fell, a raggedy man came up to Eslaf and, without saying a word, handed him a piece of fruit and a piece of dried meat. The lad took it, wide-eyed, and as he devoured it, he thanked the man very sweetly.

'If I see you begging on the streets tomorrow,' the man growled. 'I'll kill you myself. There are only so many beggars we of the guild allow in any one town, and you make it one too many. You're ruining business.'

This sort of reminds me of a book series that I read. Some collage kids were playing D&D, when the Gamemaster transports them to a Fantasy Realm. They all had the abbilities of their Characters, but also retained their RL Knowledge. They added some/few modern technologies. Gunpowder was one. It is not that easy to make from scratch.

After reading this, I read alot about making gunpowder. Then their would be the issue of machining the the small precicion parts for something like a machine gun. In the book, they only made muzzle loading black poweder fire arms. I've also read alot about smithing and fletching. I never had time to actually make anything. I collected a reference library of early weaponry & the making of such. Never know when the modern world will collapse.

- - - - - -

This gave me an idea... My next character will not do the Main Quest, SI, or KotN. He will not join any of the Guilds. He will be a merchant. I have a few mods for this, plus there are a few more I might add. He will join the Arena after prision, to earn a living, get some cash, and get some fame. Then he will do some misc quests, and much dungeon diving, to aquire wealth.

I'm thinking of going with an Argonian Assasin/Thief (Shadowscale). The one from the Perfect Assasin Topic. That was why he was in prision. Dunburrow Cove, Vile Lair, Mehrunes Razor would be great for this. At one point, he will become a vampire. He will actually compete with the TG & DB. It will actually be sanctioned by the Argonian Court, so he would not be a Rouge Shadowscale. The Merchants Guild would be a front for other opertations: Smuggling & Assasination

I believe that the raggedy man in that story was a member of the Theives Guild , since on Oblivion they used to Care for the beggars in return for information

I've always been an assassin in these kind of games ie: Morag Tong and Dark Brotherhood. So, the most fun thing to do would be to stick a Tanto in someones back in the shadows. It seems like an odd way to make money, but probably the most satisfying.

Join the Mage's Guild and test my aptitude for magic. Strive to become an Evoker or an Illusionist, or both.
Join the Fighter's Guild and seek out the best training I could find in the use of heavy armors and weapons.
Take out contracts until I died or could retire. After "retiring", pad my purse with gold by passing on my knowledge.

Lol, nice necrobump. I hadn't realized until I read the part I'm about to quote. Still, it's a very interesting thread. :)

Which is why I'm going to learn archery. I am a weak short guy in real life, and I can only really use archery or magic for combat. Magic I would find too tedious and long to learn enough to be combat-worthy.

I would be a rogue, using the bow, sneak, and a dagger to do my killings. I wouldn't live off murdering though, I'd be a freelance adventurer - killing beasts or capturing criminals, part bounty-hunter too. I may learn some illusion or alteration spells though, and definately a basic heal spell, but other than that I wouldn't touch magic much.

Overall, I would try to do good for the citizenry. If coin runs low I might take up a job with the Fighter's Guild once in a while or work in the farms of Skingrad or become a guard for somebody or for a caravan.

I'd like to live in Skingrad the most though, near all the wine and bakery goods. Anvil would be my second choice, probably help smugglers or sailors with their jobs.
There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

I would probably go to learn some magic, then use my talents to protect myself while I explore the world. It's a great big world out there, after all. Last thing I want is a Saber-Cat killing me when I could've frozen him to death.

I think I would open up a weapon/armor shop in the Imperial City. I'd sell goods made by me but also
stolen items I...obtained out of the back. I'd also do a bit of killing on the side for the brotherhood.
I'D live in the city but obtain homes in Anvil (summer home) and Chorrol. In Anvil id start a shipping company (a front to smuggle illegal and stolen goods) and in Chorrol id start a loan business under a name untraceable to me. Id then sit back and enjoy the coin rolling in.

TC you forgot to add

* Start a bandit gang in a fortified location and rob merchants
* Become a pirate or crew-member and steal from Imperial ships
* and last but not least a marauder that does as he/she pleases and stockpiles gold. EDIT: I guess the last option kind of coincides with your 3rd one so I guess I'll pick that one.
