also make the gate stay open so u can't [&@%!] out either. have a great portal open in front of the stronghold with monsters pouring out of it sounds cool

I was thinking maybe an army of marauders tunnel into your stronghold and start pouring into your courtyard, for a combo open fight/dungeon you have to beat. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, because I remember not being able to open the stronghold in the CS for some reason, maybe because I don't own SI?

Give the gate some hitpoints. Then give the marauders a siege engine or something to climb over the walls. Or both.
The marauders end up either breaking down your gate, or climbing over it. You only really have time to deal with one of the two. But either way, if they get in from the gate, they rush in like mad. If they rush in from the top, they end up opening your gate.
At that point, you're pushed back into your hall. Your only option is to try and keep them from your quarters and basement area. If they claim both the training room and your personal quarters (which they will, it's just inevitable) you'll have to escape out the back trap door. At this point, you click on the table that's sitting on the roof, and it's scripted to move on top of the door to act as a barricade. The maid is on top of the roof with you, the vintner has hidden himself in a wine barrel, and the blacksmith slipped out while nobody was watching(you'll find him in choral after you reclaim the stronghold). The taxonomist hid herself behind the mounted lion. Everybody else is dead. Except for the training orc. He's valiantly holding off wave after wave of marauders. You should go rescue him soon.
At this point, there are 50 marauders inside the stronghold. Guess who gets to clear them out? That's right. Go have fun. When they're dead, you can go get everybody back to their proper locations.
Once you talk to the blacksmith in chorral, you can commission him to build a stronger gate, and some dwemer-like crossbows mounted to the parapets.

Awesome! Think you can make a trebuchet that you can load rocks into?
I'm thinking of adding a village right next to the castle with plenty of civilians to get slaughtered, for a more epic feel. The idea is that the civilians rush to the castle for protection, and you may or may not be able to save them
I know I'm being a little overly ambitious, but this will all get trimmed down:
Villagers rush to the castle, some dying along the way
All the villagers/castle people can help buff you defenses in different ways, depending on who is still alive (you really want to keep your blacksmith alive, and maybe the village will have a mason?)
No fast travel, have fun waiting out the siege
The marauders attack your gate, scale your walls, tunnel underneath, perhaps blast out the foundations of a tower or three?
Cauldrons of hot tar?? (I suddenly miss DAoC...)
Lots and lots of marauders. Like really a lot.
I hope those oblivion gates next door aren't still open...
If you have less than a certain amount of people alive in the courtyard, marauders will start to enter your castle--you didn't really like that maid, did you? Cause she's no longer marked essential!
If you do too badly, the castellan will lead the soldiers against you and kick you from Battlehorn
Hmmm, this DLC has so much potential!

Definitely. I would say having a trebuchet or form of catapult would be cool, but it would be even cooler for emergency evacuation. Or even a way to kill someone you don't like. Its potentials are limitless. You could fire a cow at those damned English and fart in their direction, or put yourself in and see how far you go.
