Guild Wars.

Post by Wolfie »

If all the guilds\factions had a war who would win?
The reasson I'm asking is that I think that if the guilds where to come in to play in a war it would be FAR defreint then if a hold or rebels or empire where at war.
I count Bards collage but I highly doubt anyone will pick them.

I'd think the Dark Brotherhood would win. While they wouldn't fight on the frontlines, they could sneak through and murder high-up member at moments they are vulnerable. Cut the head off the snake and all that. The Theives are sneaky as well, but I think they're better suited to scouts than assassins.

In a direct fight, I'd say the Collage during the day, and the Companions if the battle took place at night.

The College of Winterhold, who can easily defend the College and attack/defend/whatever with their range of spells. Next would be the Companion, warriors who can go werewolf on yo ass. Then the Dark Brotherhood is too small and the Thieves Guild can't do guar dung.

I would choose the college of winterhold since they are mages and i think they are the biggest guild. Plus the have the college which would be hard to attack.

Just based on the characters I've seen in the game, I think the companions shouldn't have too much trouble going 1 vs 1 with any of the other guilds or on a battlefield of all 5 guilds. The trick would be if they don't all meet in one place - so the companions have to march out to one enemy, take losses beating them, then tire themselves marching to the next enemy. The hard to reach or unknown locations of the college of winterhold, the brotherhood and the thieves guild would make marching to them difficult to begin with, so the companions would probably have to march on the bards first. Perhaps the DB and the TG will send some scouts to be captured and the werewolf companions give them the decision between revealing the DB and TG locations or be dinner. And I think their noses wouldn't be tricked by Babette of the DB

The College, because they have the most powerful attacks, and they have the best fortress they can retreat to, also they have a master healer amongst them.

The Bard's would not fight, but would simply make huge amounts of profit composing ballads about the victors, and then hire whole armies of mercenaries to kill the winners.

The brotherhood would win I think. The College people would definitely destroy anyone head on, since they have a ton more people than the other guilds, and magical NPCs seem to be a lot stronger than their melee equivalents The brotherhood is a small organization but they are secluded, not many people know their location so it would be hard to actually strike them down. And they would kill from the shadows and assassinate the enemies. Of course this would be different whether it was end-game brotherhood or start-game brotherhood.

The Companions are strong yes, but they'd be running out straight up, being honorable warriors and what not, and get slaughtered by a team of mages and atronachs or killed in their sleep by assassins. Also, the thieves guild would not really be a prime candidate for participating in a guild war, even though this Skyrim thieves guild is more prone to murder than earlier games, they don't really do a lot of killing unless it's to deal with their own dissidents. I think they would probably pay the brotherhood or something and use them as a defense instead of actually doing a lot of fighting themselves. Plus they are in the middle of Riften, and they control a lot of town guards, so if another guild busted into Riften trying to take down the guild, probably they'd have a hard time making it to the Rataway without slaughtering the whole town.

So basically, the Dark Brotherhood would likely "win", but I can't see the thieves guild being destroyed in such a direct manner.

Where are they fighting? It also matters how far they start apart from each other. If they were far apart from each other, the mages have time to conjure Daedra and such. It also depends on the time of the day. If it was at night and they were close together, the Companions surely win.

Actually, the Bards win. Their singing puts the others to sleep and then the bards bash their enemies' heads with their instruments! :D

Wait, don't the Bards have the power of the console on PC?

i see the thieves guild definitely losing in general. they dont even kill anyways so we cant really think they would be good in battle. the only way i see them getting far in this war is using their money and holds on high political figures to get mercenaries or even guards on their side.
but dark brotherhood for me!

Bard's College all the way. You may THINK you've won, but a thousand years after you die, rest assured they will have turned a nation's common perception against you and now they burn a statue of you to show how bad you suck.
That is what I call victory.

Not ALL of them are werewolves, but quite a few are. The Brotherhood would simply assassinate everone, but won't be able to get past the mage guards on the College Bridge. They Thieves and the Bards would hire mercenaries.

Dark Brotherhood

They would not openly confront the other guilds. Systemic elimination would prevail.

If they do get found out, though, they were pretty easily defeated by a band of Imperials

There is only one entrance to the College, provided they are fighting at the College. So the mages would be able to defend against the other factions.

The Bards win, actually. Fat lute, you know?

The College for sure. They have master wizards who, together would be able to deal with any situation. Sneaky DB/Thieves guild? Too bad the mages have plenty of people who can detect life.
Big scary warriors?
Spoiler:
who become even stronger at night
Too bad the mages could just use a large amount of frost magic combined with fire and maybe even some paralysis to go along with it. That would be enough to destroy any small army in seconds.
Really, the mages are equipped to deal with anything the other guilds throw at them.
They also have the most easily defensible fortress in all of Skryim.
Edit: Also, don't forget about the summons. None of the other guilds have any warrior powerful enough to take on a Dremora Lord. And don't forget the amazing healing/shielding abilities.
