Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
Haven't bought a house yet, being a Ranger I'm waiting for the CK so I can mod myself a nice wee cabin wherever I please.
For now though I just craft all the craftables and sell the rest.

Is this meant to be witty, informative or deep? I doubt I can manage all three.

I'm totally with you man haha.Laryngitis wrote:Ditto, I especially want a [Expletive Deleted] honest-to-goodness LIBRARY that is more than just a couple of vaguely useable bookshelves in a house, usually scattered around so you have to go from room to room (I'm currently using the barrel under the stairs of Breezehome as a "Book Barrel"). Oh, and bring back desks and lecterns, I want some place decent to store my non-book literature. Add in a couple more safes as well (where else am I going to dump all that gold I keep picking up*, the end table next to the bed?). Of course, more alchemist satchels next to/near the alchemy station (along with decorative shelves for all those skulls, bones, and body parts the more necromantically inclined folks like to collect...though being able to collect mammoth, deer, cow, and other skulls lying around would be nice too) and soul gem containers near the enchanting altar would be nice too. That doesn't even mention getting a complete forge set (and materials containers) in one's house, so you don't have to traipse to the annoying local smithy while you're over-encumbered. And more gardens/fish ponds/apiaries for harvesting ingredients would be a nice touch. Of course, you'd need a bigger house (mansion/estate) for all that, but hey, what's wrong with that? (See also, the ability to buy a set of faction banners to decorate your home to your liking, maybe even a return of the stuffed monster displays from Battlehorn).Moirae wrote:Personally, I don't need nor want more chests, though I am a hoarder in the extreme.
What I need are more weapon racks, display cases, shield racks, and armor mannequins. I want to look at all the shiny trinkets which I obsess over. I need more book shelves too, as I'm trying to collect a copy of every book in the game, including spell tomes. The Markarth house so far is my favorite, but it still falls far short of what I need in a personal library and museum.
Ideally, I would have a room (basement probably) which was the side of the Dragonsreach dining hall that had all the walls covered in weapon and shield racks, with rows of armor mannequins standing watch like my own terracotta army of vanity.

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
I have chest with thing I could use in future and cupboard (you see? CUPBOARD) where is like ten full sets of random armor, 20+dwarven bows, maybe more than 50 leather helmets and like 200 potions. I don't even mention books and other weapons and items... I planned to sell it all, but it becomes nearly impossible.
Now I pick-up only items with ratio 50:1 (for 1 pound at least 50 gold base value) for selling purposes. I will stick to 100:1 ratio soon, because I can't even sell all items with 50:1

The only thing I really collect is books and I usually sell them once I read it.
There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

I collect books, soul gems (can't help it), and alchemical ingredients (ditto), oh not to mention ores, everytime I see a vein, even though I don't smith, I mine it for some reason. A little advice: I have not got a house yet on my third playthrough, does anyone know a place where I can put all my loot without it walking away i.e. stolen and so on.

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
You might try Anise's Cabin outside of Riverwood, or check the Houses page for others. Also, and I think the Houses page mentions this, if you marry an NPC and say you'll live at their house, you can effectively use their place as your own.Crepe the Ashlander wrote:I collect books, soul gems (can't help it), and alchemical ingredients (ditto), oh not to mention ores, everytime I see a vein, even though I don't smith, I mine it for some reason. Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
So I was wondering why I was having such bad lag when I accessed my chest in my Whiterun house. Turns out its because I had so much stuff in there, that it slowed the game down considerably just to take stuff out or put something in. I spent about two hours tonight cleaning it out, but its still quite full. I suppose thats what happens when I use it as my only real means of storage for almost 90 hours without emptying it out. I would basically stop in Whiterun every time I was near, and just drop stuff off in the chest without bothering to sell it.

Hoarders, I've got 4 words for you: Abandoned House in Markarth.
- Do the quest as early as you can.
- Clear all the crap out.
- Think of a nice system to keep your mountain of stuff organised in over 60 containers that the house has.
(Gems of any kind go into this sack, all alchemy ingredients go into that barrel, etc.. etc..)

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
I always had a problem for this kind of thing. Originally in Morrowind, I'd get one suit of each type of armour and that was it. I did however hoard lanterns, candles etc. Whatever I could use to place around a particularly dark dungeon.
In Oblivion I would end up with house filling amounts of loot (namely daedric, ebony and glass gear). This was not limited to those things though, i also hoarded lettuce and keys. (I often used the keys of the local garrison as my calling cards on my assassin style characters)
In Skyrim, well I just got sick of it, if I'm not going to use it to replace my current gear on my character at that very moment, I don't take it. I do however, still take dragon bones/scales, ore/ingots and (per fallout tradition) anything with a rare name. I guess when you are spending more of the game selling loot than exploring, well, the game becomes boring. I rarely have over 500 gold now on most of my characters. Kinda proud of myself.

Do want. <3 Display mannequin for each set of armor, and one of every weapon along the wall.Moirae wrote:Personally, I don't need nor want more chests, though I am a hoarder in the extreme.

I'm honestly a hoarder just because I can't sell my stuff to the merchants cause they're all too poor...

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
The first thing I plan on doing with the Creation Kit is making a proper place to store all my crap. Because seriously, I want my own armory. For my first character I like to complete everything possible in-game, so I have at least seven sets of quest-specific armor as well as a set of each that can be crafted. Not to mention all the unique, cool weapons. I love my ghostblade and my Dawnbreaker and my Volendrung.Drakling wrote: Do want. <3 Display mannequin for each set of armor, and one of every weapon along the wall.

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Edition
I keep one of each book, for novelty's sake. Soul Gems I carry around all the time, but don't hoard them.
I do, however, have 238 dwemer gyros in a cupboard.

When I finally get around to having a computer that can run Skyrim, I'm going to use the CK to make a Museum Village. Armour and Weapons go in this building, Books go in this building, jewels in this, etc. And I will also have a copy of even the unobtainable stuff on display.

I usually horde nearly everything at the start then sell it off when it is clearly useless.

Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Addition
It is a real picture, but if it makes you feel better it's not from my game! As much as I hoard, I like to set up my houses to look like they're actually lived in. I haven't quite tried this in Skyrim yet, mostly since your stuff gets needlessly picked up, but in Oblivion I had a great setup: ingredients in bowls, books and papers on desks, weapons neatly against the walls...and tons of stuff just stuffed into my basement. Bless those basements and cellars.GoatLiver wrote:Avron the S'wit wrote:Your wife and I would probably make quite a lovely collection between the two of us.My game houses tend to have the feel of this, although I like my clutter neatly organized and put away in containers. Re: Hoarders, Skyrim Edition
I try to spend as little time in town as possible. Current character is a bit of an off the grid guy. I hit a town and sell what I can and what I have left goes to the chest at Breezehome....which is only partially furnished and therefore has limited storage. I have some things stored upstairs but mainly have everything in the chest such that finding something is a drag.
Wouldn't be so much of a problem if I wasn't such a compulsive looter. I try to stick to a 10-1 value-weight ratio but find myself going to illogical extremes to avoid leaving loot behind because I cannot carry it. It's like I can justify my time adventuring if I can bring home the loot. Probably a habit after being married 25+ hrs re feeling the need to explain my use of time on stuff....like playing Skyrim for hours at a time.......
