I've been seeing a lot of empire vs thalmor ideas and yeah it probably will happen some time, but what about others? There could be other options out there. Yes a dlc for the empire/thalmor war might happen because they have a clear opening for it and it would be easy, but since when is bethesda about doinh stuff easy? What I'm saying is what about the unpredictable? An example could be The Shivering Isles for Oblivion. Who could of predicted that you would go to sheogoraths relm and become his champion? It could be something totally unpredictable, like akavir or going to high rock or something with madanach and the forsworn again, or just something simple like rebuilding winterhold. There's lots of options out there.

Rebuilding Winterhold? Duruza will love you.

Some elaboration of the Forsworn situation seems unlikely, seeing as there is
Spoiler:
the option to kill Madenach.

Nevarine dissappears, Champion of Cyrodiil becomes Sheogorath... The obvious conclusion?

Hm. We can all dream, eh?

I think that they will try to explore an entirely new option, this time. What occurs to me as most likely is the emergence of some threat in Atmora, requiring the Dragonborn's attention. An entire country, with architecture similar to Nordic Ruins, overrun and shredded by encroaching ice. Frost demons and Draugr and other weird ancient Nedic stuff to fight.

Atmora Would be awesome, but also a bit strange. It's basically a giant plane of ice with Nordic ruins, horkers and draugr everywhere. The Fallout Scrolls: New Atmora! :D

I was thinking more like: A massive city with Nirdic Ruin like architecture, crumbling and falling into the sea, with a glacier flowing through part of the city. Like, a BIG ruined city. With an unreasonable amount of bones everywhere.

Plus, some epic mountains and mountain passes and whatnot. I read something in the wiki about the Aldmeri being in parts of Atmora, so there could be some Aldmeri ruins, kinda like Ayleid but... Older and snowier?

Skyrim's DLC would most likely be a follow up of the main quest genre i.e. dragons. I see there being a new continent/island/dimension based on dragons, (Akavir?!?) just as Oblivion's DLC featured a new daedric prince dimension.

That does sound fun. Maybe as fun as Orsinium, and that's saying a lot. About the whole

Dovahkiin turning into a dragon
buisness, I'm thinking that's going to happen only in lore, and not as part of DLC.

Alduin has devoured the world many times before, unless Skyrim is all one terrible retcon. But, to be fair, I don't think the kalpas are mentioned much in the games.

As I've posted thousands of times, we need sea monsters /plugging my idea

During the quest 'Blood on the Ice', the serial killer referred to necromancy as Flesh Magicks. I'm not entirely studied on necromancer lore, but the implication to me was you can harness magical energy from the placement of bones and flesh. It would be a cool way to get buffs, not to mention a wonderful crafting game, the placement of bones and flesh to pull magical energy, or to bind deceased enemies or NPCs to skeletons. Imagine, soul trap Nazeem. Bind him to a correct placement of bones, and get a Skeleton Nazeem who speaks like his former self. Necromancers always get the short end of the stick. It's its own school of magic, yet we only ever get one spell...

"Flesh Magicks" reminds me more of the work of Relmyna Verenim and her flesh atronachs. Blood on the Ice is bugged for me though, so I don't have much to go on.

Look, everybody knows that if the Argonians were to invade, the Nords would open up a jumbo-sized can of whup-tail. But an attack by the Thalmor... Hmm, shows a lot of promise, and also it has the potential to offer a lot more attractive mer for marriage.

If the Thalmor, the Stormcloaks, and Argonians were to attack Skyrim at the same time, Skyrim might be overrun. Uh oh. Also, the Argonians are masters of guerilla warfare, too.

By definition, guerilla warfare is fighting on your own turf. That's why the Stormcloaks beat the Imperials, too, because only Legate Rikke and a handful of men actually were familiar with the native terrain; all the rest were Imperials, born and bred.

Black Marsh is not a part of the Empire because of their Guerrila warfare skills.

Though the Nords are probably superior warriors, Argonians are familiar with that terrain and have mastered tactics designed to maximize on the certain peculiarities associated with fighting in a swamp. The Armorer's Challenge is a good example of this.

I just realized another idea for a Skyrim dlc...an arena! Like in oblivion! Oh how I miss listening to Owyn say "I heard a rumor that your an idiot, any truth to that?" And Ysabel Andronicus yell at me for not talking already...hmm....weird.

I registered just to chime in on this topic. ES Lore is so deep, it frankly boggles the mind. However, the diverse environments of Tamriel really make the games special. In relation to Skyrim, I would really like to see an epic DLC related to Hammerfell. First, I would love to see the desert in all it's Skyrim engine glory. Second, it's so close to Skyrim it makes for a natural jump to location. Hammerfell is so sparse due to it's deserts, that the actual content needed would probably be too sparse for a full fledged ES edition, but perhaps it would great for a DLC.

The "In My Time of Need" quest opens up several potential quest lines. There seems to be a sort of civil war, in fighting amongst factions and perhaps royals. It could provide a terrific story to jump from.

I'm looking to see old regions from previous games revisited or new regions of Tamriel explored. There is so much there, I would hate another fantasy land like the Shivering Isles to appear. Of course seeing Black Marsh or Valenwood would be terrific, but I don't see how they can move the content there from Skyrim.

High Rock would also be great and although I've played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and each game improved from the other, no region or map seems to match Morrowind (Vaardenfall). That place just had an amazing charm. Others have discussed mainland Morrowind and that would be terrific.

I'm hoping the next ES games explore either Black Marsh, Elsewyr or Valenwood. I've waited 6 years to see Skyrim, I don't want to wait another 6 to see another region of Tamriel. We won't cover the whole region before I die at this rate. So DLC MUST explore new areas of Tamriel or revisit regions from the really early games.

I'm hoping it's Hammerfell.

EDIT:

Perhaps some sort of time travel to prevent Nazeem's birth?
