Today as the clock has stroke 00.45 A.M. in these Scandinavian parts I've reached 1½ Septims after being a registered user on the UESP forums for almost two years.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
There's nothing worse than that feeling. I know how it feels; I got few of the great jobs I ever applied to, and I'm sure you'll hear lots of whining as I get those PhD approvals - or lack thereof - in the next few weeks. But it's okay! "Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God," as Kurt Vonnegut says. Hang in there.scribbane wrote:Today, I didn't get into the school I applied for.
Today I had a very awkward family reunion, but I was told my apartment approval went through so I can go forward with setting it up. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time, but I know it's going to be great.
I also realized I forgot to send my transcripts to my last school (whose deadline is the 15), and that I can never remember to uncheck the invisible status around here...

Well I just told off a kid saying that Seamus does his LP on Xbox, since all of the icons are for Xbox. I later figured out that he Seamus WAS on PC and he was using an Xbox controller. Had no idea that the icons switched too when using an controller. Seems like that would be under copyright... I feel bad

That's so great! I wish you the best of luck.JVElEven wrote:Tomorrow I have the second round of the "Georg Mohr-math competition". Only 15 students from all gymnasiums (Danish high school) in Denmark can go through that round.
But if one does get through, they might have a shot at the Math Olympics.
I used to take part in different subject competitions when I was at high school. Here winning a pan-country competition entitles one to enter any university where the subject you've won in is major without exams.
If you win the competition, will that give you an advantage in entering a university?
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.

today I was on the way home from my friend's house on my scooter (at 1.09 A.M.) when I ran out of gas 1½ mile from my house. Fail, but I had a great time at his place, especially the four hours I was there when he wasn't home (got to play some Skyrim).

I had to stand in line for four bloody hours today - out in the freaking sun, I might add - to get an identity document that shows my new surname. On the bright side, I had to get my car's windscreen replaced and that was a total breeze, just 10 minutes, at 1/3 of the price other places charge.

Went to an exposition about Sagalassos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagalassos) with my class. It was pretty neat. Especially if you know that Turkey almost NEVER allows other countries to use objects dug up in Turkey.

Harika! That's awesome, Abel. How the devil did you get the Turkish government to let you dig there? That's most impressive!

Marc Waelkens has been leading the excavation at Sagalassos for over 20 years. I have no idea how.

Bless him. I wish I could do that. When I was in Turkey I was too afraid to pick up a rock, lest I get beat up by the army.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I went to the local police office to get my record. They were closed, but I called later when I got home and the policeman said he'd drop it off when he drove by. Nice of him. I'm almost suited for work at the temp agency now, I just need to get the last papers in order and then I'm all set and fit for fight!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Looks like things are going pretty well for the UESPers.
I'm spending today on all kinds of acting-like-a-real-girl things, such as getting a proper haircut and having my once-a-year hair-straightening (I love my curls, but just once in a while it's nice not to have to battle a comb twice a day), painting my nails (black with red glitter. Real classy, I know) and putting on make-up, because it's date night tonight and I want to look super pretty.
EDIT: the nail-painting thing that happens so often these days is totally Avron's fault. Turns out my nails hold up better when painted as well, so thanks!

Hey, that sounds like something I could gladly take the blame for, so you're welcome!Leilah wrote:EDIT: the nail-painting thing that happens so often these days is totally Avron's fault. Turns out my nails hold up better when painted as well, so thanks!
Today all of my materials for my university applications are completely submitted, a hundred percent. Now I can only wait to see if any place accepts me for my PhD studies. That aside, the security check I wrote for my apartment was cashed, so I assume that means everything is a-okay. Huzzah!
I think I am going to The Met tomorrow to see an exhibit on Japanese storytelling. I can't wait. Despite all my years living here near NYC, I never went to The Met yet. What a shame!

I passed an exam and bought Portal 2.
And had cake. Ironic.
I also became Arch-Mage, but that's not important.

All Arch-Mages are unimportant.
I did a little presentation on the origin of language for Anthro. It went pretty well.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
It turns out I am not going to The Met today but shall instead spend it packing and getting things for my new apartment. I suppose that's just as good. I was thinking that instead of buying any decorations I would paint a few pieces since I have blank canvases lying around, but what to paint is a different matter entirely...
And, to honor Leilah, I also painted my nails late last night. Now we match!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I stumbled down a rabbit-hole and found myself in a very peculiar place. A slew of disturbed souls all cradled themselves in fetal grasps, cursing and muttering incoherency. As I skulked throughout the bleak miasmas of insanity, I couldn't help but muse: if only these prickly green boles could talk...
But of course, it is a place that shall not be named, for it is a place of despair and madness!
