Belethor
This NPC died for no reason. I waited for days for his shop to open without luck. On the discussion page for this character someone posted that his coffin was in the hall of the dead. It was and his key to the shop was on him. Now his assistant has dis appeared. Did his assistant murder him? He did not seem to happy working for him. Will the shop get taken over by a new owner?

Re: Belethor
Originally during the game's production, they were saying that if an NPC died, someone "related" to them would come fill in their spot, but I have yet to see this actually happen in the game.
Not sure how Belathor died either, I have never encountered that. Maybe he was asked one too many prying questions from random travelers and offed himself.

Re: Belethor
I had that with Taarie, the only marriable High Elf. Her sister Endarie took over the shop when she passed away.
Oddly enough, I never saw what killed her. Just like your Belethor, she died mysteriously reasonless.

Actually, I personally used the moveto command on the console and went to an odd cell with all kinds of dead naked people, including Taarie. It was the weirdest place I've ever been to. It was purple.Cemiboy_FB wrote:they didn't die! they took an arrow to the knee and had to become town guards...

Re: Belethor
In my game, Belethor was killed in a dragon attack on Whiterun. His shop stayed locked for a long time. Currently, the shop is open during regular hours but no one is behind the counter. His assistant sometimes is in the shop but has no dialogue for selling things.

Re: Belethor
Random radiant encounters can happen within cities, on one of my characters, half of Riften was dead because a thief would spawn every time I entered the area, most citizens got killed by guards shooting arrows willynilly. I had a similar problem in Falkreath, but with necromancers, the place became so littered with corpses that it made me laugh at the irony

Re: Belethor
You haven't had a courier come around and hand you a letter of inheritance have you? I haven't quite got my head around this Radiant Story thing yet, but I know that I've had a couple of letters delivered that detailed a friend passing away, and one was a merchant to whom I'd sold a load of stuff over the last few weeks. I can't remember who it was, it was the owner of the general junk store in Solitude. Maybe the courier hasn't caught you yet. They've only appeared to me after carriage rides or fast travel.

He vanished in my playthrough too. Happened after a Companion quest in the beggining of the game.
At first I was quite upset because he was the only merchant (that I knew) who wanted to buy all the crap that I gathered...
