Daily Skyrim Debate: Vampires vs Werewolves?

Post by PsijicOrder »

So, Classic question. Vampires V.S. Werewolves, which is more efficient? Or, do you hate the idea of either of them and would much rather be a plain, non-diseased person? Each disease has it's particular perks and benefits as well as it's withdraws and weaknesses. Which is better and WHY!! This is a discussion thread so feel free to discuss why either is better or worse.

Personally, I prefer to get my Exp bonuses from being a plain person. x) Lame maybe. But hey, bet i'm a higher level than you. ;D

If I had to pick it would be werewolf, otherwise I think I'd prefer being a regular person.

As for efficiency I have no idea.

EDIT: Blah! Voted werewolf even though I could have voted neither... I feel so confused and wronged.

What's the level of your character? :P

I think Werewolves are better.
Grab a
Spoiler:
Ring of Hircine
and you become a boss. The only downside is the sleeping bonus but who cares...

I played with a Vampire for at least 5 hours and felt huge downs. Maybe if I try to adjust the gameplay a little things could change...

I never really was interested in turning into a Vampire in both games, much less a werewolf.
There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

Werewolves are more efficient on a whole, the downsides are negligible and the benefits, without even using beast form are quite useful. Beast form, once mastered is a powerful tool when used correctly. Can use lovers stone without losing anything in the trade as well.
The Lover Stone acts as a permanent Lover's Comfort bonus, and thus the player cannot obtain other sleeping bonuses.
Vampirism has the most potential, but require specific focus, and the withdraws need to be better prepared to work against. It is generally over specialized, hence less efficient for most play styles.

Normals benefits over werewolf form requires more management to get the full benefit. I see this as a net negative.

I prefer vampirism, but it suits my character better.
Mystery, silence, shadows. These are my tools.

Werewolves. The only downside is not getting the resting bonus which to me is not a really big deal, the benefits easily out weigh the drawback and it's super fun to turn beast and just maul some face.

I went out of my way to contract vampirism (which is way more annoying than it should be as a bosmer), and it didn't really do anything for me. As a sneak heavy archer, I thought it would be a nice buff, but it never made any real difference. And the fact that I could wander around in the sunlight? Wat... Vampirism is garbage in Skyrim.

WW is pretty solid, at least at low levels, but the inability to regain health killed it for me. It basically meant that I would only consider using it when in a heavily human-populated area, as in any other kind of dungeon it just meant a sure death. And its usefulness seemed to fall off pretty steeply as I got higher levels, and enemies became less scrubby in general. If I play as a melee heavy char, I tend to keep beastblood and never use it, just for the disease immunity. Stupid rockjoint...

I play with neither, as vampirism is a joke, and wolf form is too situational and of nominal benefit for any of my characters.
The Wabbajack! Huh? Huh? Didn't see that coming, did you?

Werewolf, people are tasty.
“Fine day” said the young man.

“Gods!” hollered Zaki, sending the young man flying with a well-placed punch, and dashing away.

Werewolves work for mutilating anything human with weak armor or armor under steel imo..but if one is going up against multiple well equipped persons I believe the sneak/illusion bonuses vampires get is probably more efficient-but I do not know how to fully use a werewolf nor its shout skills and have yet to try tailoring a character to be a vampire so that's just my hypothetical standpoint.

I think the werewolf is overpowered in Skyrim. And I vote werewolves. Because they are awesome. In Skyrim.

I picked lycanthropy, even though I suspect the two illnesses are fairly even. Mostly it has to do with the fact that vampirism is not terribly manly right now. Though as my character nears old age,
Spoiler:
he goes to the rotting witch head he's always kept in his bedside table, makes one final journey to the tomb of Ysgramor, and pitches it into the flames.

Werewolves are awesome. I'll be going to the Hunting Grounds with my wife when I die.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

Even though I am a stealth character, I still choose Werewolf. Even if I get spotted and am forced into close range combat, I just go into beast mode rip everyone to pieces.
