Favourite Jarl?
My favourite one was Jarl Balgruuf, don't know why, he just seemed like a cool guy. He stood for what he wanted for his hold, not what Ulfric, or Tullius wanted for his hold, and for me that means something.
A close second is Jarl Idgrod, because she was just brilliant in the Diplomatic Immunity quest, and I became fond of her when I became the Thane of Hjaalmarch.
A close third would be Brunwolf of Windhelm, because he stands up for the litte guy in Windhelm, and he stands for what he believes in, not the gung ho attitude of Ulfric. Although i'm not putting up the alternate options on the poll, so I couldn't have put him anyway.
Note: You may choose two favourites.

We have exactly the same opinions on all three. The only difference is that, for me, Idgrod is first and Balgruuf second.

Jarl Balgruuf because he tries not to participate in the war.
And also Jarl Korir because he is trying to restore Winterhold's glory and even if its not working he keeps trying.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
Honestly the more I participated in the war, the more I started to like Ulfric the guy may be a bit of a tyrant at times but at least he wants whats best for his people and is honest about it, I gave him his death wish at Windhelm because I have respect for the guy. All he wanted was to restore Skyrim's power and position if that meant taking on the Empire to get to the Elves than so be it.
I like Balgruuf though as another one he cares more for his land and his people than he others and he was the most developed so in a way he's actually some what one sided as the victor of this poll because he's the most fleshed out character.
If there was a third it would be Igmund, because he wants to see the Forsworn gone and is actually trying to reduce the corruption in the city. Plus he has the guards voice and thats just awesome.

You should add the guy that replaces Ulfric to the poll.

I won't be argonanza, I wanted to, but there wouldn't be enough room for all of them, and it would be a bit unfair if I only put Brunwulf on.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
Balgruuf wins by a landslide, it seems. I only have him in second.
Idgrod is a cool old lady.
And I LOATHE Igmund. Because he's against the Forsworn.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
Ulfric is my favorite yarl, despite the problems in Windhelm. The voice actor needs a raise, as he makes me actually believe in Ulfric's cause and the desire to follow him to Sovrengard.
Balgruuf is second for me, since he seems to genuinely care about the people in his hold. The attitude of his kids, however...

Re: Favourite Jarl?
Ulfric is not my favorite Jarl, as Jarls go the best is Jarl Balgruuf, how ever he is one of the worst in skiym other wise becuse he would let the rest of skyrim burn and do nothing, he really only cares about his people and dose not pick a side
So while a good Jarl, he is a terrible nord\skyrim person
while Ulfric = terrible Jarl but good for nords\skyrim

Re: Favourite Jarl?
None really. I hate Ulfric, and I don't see what's the big deal with Balgruuf either. If I had to choose, it'll be Elisif, just because I feel sorry for her. She is being pushed around and not taken seriously and I think she really wants the best for Skyrim.

Balgruuf for sure. I was really [&@%!] when it turned out that by joining the Stormcloaks, I helped remove him from his position and damage his city.
Favorite city, favorite Jarl, favorite hold, so I always side with the Imperials on every other playthrough now.

You both have over 750 posts. Is that really needed? There's some typos because the keys were struck in the wrong order, but it was perfectly readable.JVElEven wrote:I'm sorry wolfie, but if you want anyone to understand you, spell properly, please.
Balgruuf is obviously the clear favorite. He's the first most people meet, he's the most reasonable and balanced, he's involved in the most quests. The players are supposed to like Balgruuf, whereas the rest are just there, or perhaps intentionally unlikeable.

Blame Ulfric for taking them away.JVElEven wrote:And I LOATHE Igmund. Because he's against the Forsworn.
The only nice Forsworns that you meet are the ones from Cidhna Mine anyway. All the others are pricks who attack you on sight... Even some BANDITS are more polite.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
I actually passed a group of four Forsworn outside the Secret Entrance of Reachcliff Cave.
They didn't attack me. They were actually quite polite. Sure, they'd killed some orcs, but they didn't attack me.
Also, it's hard to hate Ulfric with that voice. It could only be better if Morgan Freeman had voiced him.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
I went with Balgruuf first as he is an all-round top bloke, for reasons that have been previouly stated on this thread (although I agree that his kids should be burned at the stake).
Second I went with Elisif, partly because she actually cares the most about her people, and partly because her steward is Folk Firebird, another stand up chap, who has an awesome name.

I don't hate Ulfric, it's just that, it was his men who drove the Forsworn away. Not Igmund's.
And yeah, that's what I (and some) were saying. Is there any reason to hate Ulfric at all?
People hate him because they assume he's a coward and because he OHAMIGOD MURDERED DA HIGH KING THAT YOU DON'T EVEN GET TO MEET. Go figure.
And he's the first Jarl you meet, not Balgruuf.
It's just that Balgruuf is more friendly than the others. Balgruuf's da boss.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
I hate Ulfric because he's a massive hypocrite hee rebels against the Empire, but his main protest is against what the Thalmor are doing, do why not attack them? Plus, he discriminates, or at least allows discrimination, against other races.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
The Imperials are pretty much agents of the Thalmor now. Getting rid of the Imperials first might prove to be more easy than to fight the 2 forces at once.
Besides, the Thalmor inside Skyrim are a minority compared to the Legion. Drive away the force that is more menacious first, I'd say.
And I don't think he allows the discrimination, he just doesn't really care.

Re: Favourite Jarl?
I would disagree that the imperials are "agents" of the Thalmor, they are forced to cooperate with the Thalmor, and to publish propaganda books like "The Talos mistake" but the Thalmor do not work through the Empire and most people in the Empire dislike them. I don't think the Empire would care too much if the Stormcloaks attacked Thalmor patrols.
Also, not caring about other races but caring about nords is discrimination.
