Lord of the Rings - The First Age

Dwanum fell into a pile of mud and quickly got up. Dwanum, taking in his first time in immediate combat, quickly made a huge swing with his mattock blindly hitting nothing. He ran back a bit, waiting to see what has happened.

A huge behemoth of a creature, blue and tentacled, leaped out of the ground and sat in the water, fat bulging from a huge crevice. It smashed a tree with its tentacle and picked it up, throwing it at some dwarves.

[Imp]

Dwanum reflexively hit the dirt, laying on his stomach, loooking for the commander. Listening for some form of tactic.

"Dwarves, into cover!" Shouted the Commander. "Dwanum, over here. Me and some men are going up to the hill. We'll throw axes at it from there!"

[Imp]

Dodging whirling debree thrown by the creature, Dwanum studderdly ran up the hill, spontaneously looking behind him.

The Watcher threw a rock at the Commander, who rolled out the way. However, a large stick flew from a tree and hit him in the side.

[Imp]

Dwanum, searching for the grunt of pain he just heard, found ahead of him the commander. He ran over and quickly asked, "You break something? Bleeding bad?"

"Just get behind that felled tree. And take this." He handed him a mithril throwing axe and then he passed out.

[Imp]

Dwanum looked astonished. He looked down at the bottom of the hill and hid behind the downed tree. He took the axe, and dragged the commmander behind him. He kept dodging the debri, and looked above the log to see how bad it has gotten.

The commander breathed suddenly. "Hit him you fool. Throw it." And he passed out again.

[Imp]

Shaking, still in a bit of a paralyzed state, slung the mithril axe over his shoulder, ready for an accurate aim. With full force, the axe was thrown out of his hand. Dwanum hoped for his life as of all of the others that he hit its head, eyes most preferably.

The axe span in the air, soaring towards the Watcher's large, blubbery head. It hit it. Blood poured everywhere and it disappeared over the water.

There was cheering and shouting. "Continue over the ford. We'll stop in a n hour to check the wounded and burn the dead."

[Imp]

Dwanum did as they said, a sense of pride overcoming him.

They marched for an hour and where far away from the ford when they stopped. There was a massive pyre and lots of mourning. They stopped for the day, deciding that it would be indignant to give the soldiers a half-arsed funeral.

"Dwanum! I want to see you!"

[Imp]

Dwanum quickly ran to the commander, slightly frightened.

"It's okay. We've nearly reached Brethil and I want you to travel through the forest and ask for supplies. I will give you money."

[Imp]

Dwanum nodded."what do you need me to get?" He asked. "Who am I supposed to get it from?"

Three other guys. When Sav gets on, Findorin and his character are going to Brethil.

"Weapons, food, tents, ale. Get it from the blacksmith, baker, farmers, every shopkeeper. But, itt's a dangerous journey. and you will need men to go with you. You will be travelling down the old road. Through the forest. It is a weeks journey for a small squad. It will take the army about ten days to get there. I need you to have the supplies."

"Alright, should I head out now?" Dwanum questioned. "How long of a journey should I pack for?"

[POMC S117]

"We have already covered that for you. Borri!" Yelled the Commander. A small dwarf in gold, plated armour ran into the tent. "Escort Dwanum to teh squad."

[Imp]

Dwanum smiled at Borri, "Good day sir."

Borri ignored Dwanum and took him out of the camp. They travelled up a thin, narrow path covered with rotting leaves and moss. They reached the top of a small cliff and journeyed towards a forest. Gradually, the dirt track that they were following joined on to a cobbled road and they walked on that for ten minutes. They approached the forest. At the edge of the trees, a group of five dwarves stood, carrying bags and loading sacks onto ponies.

A little angry he wasn't responded to, Dwanum said to the group, "Good day, men"

The dwarves looked at him, noting his presence before packing again. Borri began to walk back to the camp. A gruff-looking dwarf with mithril armour and a large warhammer walked up to Dwanum. "Take this." He gave Dwanum a large sack. "There's another squad about ten minutes into the forest. Take this to them. I know exactly how much gold is in that and it's sealed so don't try to steal any of it."
