The Arena was fun, but it just came down to "buy 20 health potions so that you can't die", and wasn't very challenging if you had money.

I hate how you have to join the college if you want any decent spells, or generally just go into the college.

I really hate the 3rd person Sneak animations. After all the games Bethesda has done, it's just sad. I thought FO:NV's was bad, but this, this is just terrible.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
Yes they all have these problems but the point is. Morrowind is what? 9+ years old now? Oblivion was 6+ years ago. How long will it take for Bethesda to stop lollygaggin' and put all these things in the vanilla to start with? Yes it a bit critical and I should probably cut them some slack, but all those years for relatively progressive improvements seems a bit silly to my eyes.Da_BossMaN69 wrote:dude literally half the things you complained about are common staples of any elder scroll game. Are you just making up reasons for why Skyrim sucks.Dan-Ru wrote:stuff
Honestly, I feel like everyone just has nostalgia generated towards this game and series. Half the people I read bashing this game ofcourse can't just say a reason that's new or introduced. It has to be something that was taken out or left from a previous title. These games aren't going to stay the same forever they're going to change it's five years for every title, some things work out better in the future and honestly, the crowd is getting bigger for this game it's been changing from a hardcore rpg since daggerfall, every new title has had less skills
I mean I find it almost ironic that this is the same crowd that will bash franchises like Call of Duty for being too similar all the time, yet will also bash a great game like Skyrim because it's too different.
Also more directly at Dan, no offense but I just went over your complaints again, can you name me one game in the series that didn't have those same problems.
That said, if and when I do play Skyrim I practically go from Dwarven ruin to Dwarven ruin just for the eye candy caverns most of them have.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
For me, Skyrim is an amazing game and improves on Oblivion (which is the only other Elder Scrolls game I have played) in many ways. There are many things about Skyrim which I am totally blown away with, and it's one of those games which I can see myself playing for a long time though.
There isn't anything I hate about Skyrim as such, I wouldn't go that far as to say I 'hate' anything about the game. There isn't such thing as a perfect game, but personally this is the closest thing yet.
But there are some faults with the game which do bother me, the big one that get's to me is the lack of purpose with one's character. Don't get me wrong, most of the time (e.g. the main quest especially, and civil war questline's) there is a real sense of purpose and tie to Skyrim and it's people. But at times it feels like pointless and/ or rushed (e.g. the bards college, the mages guild, the dark brotherhood) . It seems to me, like with all the improvements with graphics and that, that they have missed on the part I most enjoyed about Oblivion- A sense of worth and consequence in the game.

This threw me off when I first played Oblivion. The complete absence of all the insect/alien looking creatures that are abundant only 50/60 miles away. You'd think there would be, at least, a few around the Skyrim/Morrowind border.Belthazor wrote: Creatures are too earth-like. Not necessarily. Our knowledge of the creatures in Morrowind is mostly limited to Vvardenfell - an island - and it has been 200 hundred years, not counting an invasion and a horrible, horrible eruption, which likely changed things quite a bit. But I do miss some of those bizarre creatures, too! Guars, anyone?CWillio wrote:You'd think there would be, at least, a few around the Skyrim/Morrowind border.

The goats! Gods I hate the goats, haha. All the non-hostile creatures run away from you, generally in the same direction you're going, and the goats always seem to run at just the right pace to stay either right with me, or just ahead of me.
I ran most of the way up the 7,000 steps for the first time tripping over like two stupid goats that I didn't want to kill because I didn't know whether or not they were owned. I swear, nothing breaks up an epic, blue-skied mountain climb like two stupid goats
I really dislike the new bartering. It's generally okay, but I hate it when I have just short the amount of gold I need to buy something, and have already run out my current vendor's gold stash, even though I still have things to sell that more than cover the difference between how much gold I have and what I want to buy. >.>

I haven't played any other Elder Scrolls game, so I only type this in relation to other games in general; the bugs annoy me, I would've liked Bethesda to have taken a little while longer to get rid of the bigger bugs and glitches

That my skill is more important than my characters skill. Lock picking mini game is a prime example from my style of play. Even with 85 lock picking skill, 90% of the ability to open the lock is based on me.
When it comes to role playing games this is a big issue for me. I guess coming from a table-top background this heavily influences my view point. It breaks immersion for me more than programming bugs most of the time.

Yes, like maybe hiring some capable playtesters. Re: Things you hate about skyrim
Well, this time, I was trying to by Spell Tome: Summon Flame Atronach up in Dragon's Reach. I was short 20 gold, and Farengar only had 10 or so gold left, so even if I was desperate enough to sell him something at a loss just to buy the book, he didn't have enough gold anyway. So, I had to run all the way from Dragon's Reach and back, over 20 gold, even though I had another several hundred gold worth of items in my pack.SpikeSpeigel wrote:What stuff are people buying in Skyrim?? Very annoying, and, I'm just going to say it, still a step back from Morrowind.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
Skyrim is just one of those games, you can't expect it to be like something like Fallout, there isn't really a demand in this game for anything really besides potions and such compared to fallouts ammo and money needed for materials used in repairs or buying them.
As far as the Earth based creatures that's a little unfair you have the Chaurus, and when you think about the animunculi is another enemy, I mean they're robots when you put it simply no other fantasy game really uses them due to their association with sci fi.
But as for what I personally hate, lack of the side rode attractions the other fallouts set up. Now don't get me wrong a lot of the scenery and visuals in this game are astounding and clearly better than the other games, but similarly to Oblivion there's just nothing on the actual roads except for the forts, most of the ruins and what not are hidden up in mountains or secret areas when you travel along the actual roads very few things grab you in.
Like in Fallout 3 there were the large destroyed raised high ways or tenpenny tower from a distance, or simply ruins in the way.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
The Elder Scrolls has earth creatures . . that just makes the game more awesome. They also have humans. Oooooh.
Re: Things you hate about skyrim
Same here. Having just finished the main quest, I'm like "huh, is that it?"ReeceH wrote:But there are some faults with the game which do bother me, the big one that get's to me is the lack of purpose with one's character.
And reading up on the Stormcloak/Legion quests, it seems the undercurrent is all about the Thalmor and their enforced terms of the White-Gold Concordant, and yet nothing you do in making a political allegiance seems to change anything about these: it appears all you do is enforce destruction across Skyrim, without effecting any of the root causes.
I want to feel like my character made a difference in the world, like in a novel - Skyrim as story-based I would have expected. Oblivion had it in the close connection to Martin and the massive political change that occured in defeating the daedra. But Skyrim - you get better equipment and money - it doesn't feel like achieving anything significant. Dragons? They were a minor part of the general landscape, and rarely troubled any place.
