"Virtually every Skyrim mission is this: go here, openly kill a really non challenging opponent, get pulled up by the town guards, tell them to go f*** themselves because you are a thane, they apologise, return to sanctuary for crappy gold reward. "
This actually reminds me of Morrowind's Morag Tong missions. But at least you got something really nice at the end.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
The quests can be maddening to complete, especially if you didn't pay attention when they were talking to you. If you accept a quest and wait a couple of real-life days, it can be hard to remember the details. They could use a little more detail in the writeups you can access in-game.
Some of the quests are very easy or silly; most of the DB quests are very fun under Astrid, and after her they are go to X, kill y, return for z. Boring. And I've been getting quests from Couriers (that evidently lead to Dragon Shout Walls) that are "Find the secret of power in X". They are very simplistic.
Item sorting is an issue, especially when you end up with a hundred items in a container.
I don't HATE anything in the game, more like minor annoyances.

That only happens when the person saying something negative feels the need to either add an insult at the people who like the game or says something that isn't in-game but rather about the things around the game... like the fans.Jeff wrote:It is actually a growing, troubling trend on the UESP Forums.
It is not just one-offs.
One member has something negative to say about the game, and a group of pitchfork, torch wielding mobs go on a witchhunt.
This place is becoming one of the least friendly places on the Internets.

Oh yeah, I remembered another thing! The fact that, in the end, choosing between heavy and light armour comes down to aesthetic preference, because there are perks for both that make their weight zero. Again...

STOP! YOU'VE VIOLATED THE LAW.
There is no reason to go off topic and start rambling on about cliques and people who like this game better than that game. You're all being a bit childish. There's no reason to attack anyone here so I would appreciate it if we could all try to discuss things maturely, lest we conclude this thread has served its purpose. So if everyone would please, it would make me very happy.

Heavy armor has power that doesn't make sense, it becomes NO weight? At all?
And the game doesn't support Enchanting enough, each skill has a perk that supports something else, but there is nothing about enchanting in other skills? It baffles me that Beth decided to bring back the Enchanting skill, but didn't really do anything else about it.

I would like to be able to wear a helmet for the armor protection, but see my head. Not a major complaint, but it would be a nice feature.

I think they were aiming for some kind of aesthetic vs. practicality dynamic with the full set bonuses, but it's so weighted since the perks are so strong and so many of the perks are "feet, chest, head and arms".
Would have been nice if you got the perk as long as you weren't wearing both kinds of armour. :\

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
In my opinion Skyrim is two steps up from Oblivion, but 13 down from Morrowind.
- The UI. Seriously, it's just stupid
- The Combat system, especially how there is no fluidity in the attacks or choice over hit spots
- The lack of diversity in creatures (Ie, why must they all be so Earth based)
- The lack of spells/skills/attributes
- Lack of vocal diversity
- The lack of appropriate weather, especially snow depth after blizzards
- The terribly weak dragons. "Harbingers of the end time" my ass. Nothing more than giant aggro birds
- The night. It's far too bright. That goes for ruins too, It should be dark where there is no light and slightly brighter where light is filtering down
- Levelled enemies. Hated it in oblivion, hate it in Skyrim
- The lack of difference between Light and Heavy armour.
- The sheer over scaling of Smithing.
- Enchanting and Alchemy. What's up with that Bethesda?
- Sneak is horribly overpowered, max skill and you can go hidden in plain sight, which leads on to the next one
- Detection system is dodgy. Farcry Instincts (yes the original) had an excellent system for it's time. How can a 2011 game not be able to recreate or even surpass it?
- Lack of beverages.
- The terrible atmosphere, Skyrim just doesn't have it after you leave Helgen. Broken Oar Grotto is the only place i've felt immersed, and that was only achieved because I was sneaking.
- In fact, why don't Burial tombs even slightly incite dread. I feel like I'm walking through a rusty old cellar in the manor basement.
- The fact you must be a thane to get a house
- Why must houses only be in towns? What about a cave house in the mountainside hmm?
- Small cities
- the DB quest line. it seems the last quest is the only one of any substance.
- the abundance of coin. Seriously. if John Doe the beggar barely has two to knock together, why should I be able to pull in excess of 50K from a full inventory?
- Carry weight. I can understand why it is as high as it is, but I don't like it regardless.
- The lack of undead. And the variety of forms for each. Why no headless Draugr or skeletons? Why no banshee's, mummies, skeletal/zombie animals etc.
- Why couldn't bethesda have voiced all the lore names for the races? Having my dark elf called by his name Llero would be cool (and that name is right out of the lore list for dunmer names)
- Liner ruins, some are intricate, but most just don't feel that way.
- more armour varieties
- The supposedly "evil" spectral voices. I'm not feeling threatened for anything so I'ma just keep coming kay?
- Werewolves, y u no in foests? And why do you not allow the other strain affected by waxing and waning of moons?
- Vampires. they suck, simple as that.
- Dirt, characters are just too dirty. I mean, all that water you think they'd know to bath.
- Oldness, seriously, I want youthful characters sometimes, getting wrinkle free is a task and a half now.
- too easy. Even on the hardest difficulty the game is a pushover.
- I am sick of the guards. Arrow to the knee this Sweetroll that. Those comments should be rarer.
- I shouldn't be hearing anything about Dragons until i reach the Jarl of Whiterun. For being the first person there the guards are astonishingly aware.
blah blah blah. there is probably more but I can't be stuffed.

The inventory is a pain and I too hate that the only way to become a werewolf is by joining the Companions, why aren't there any wild werewolves?

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
There is another thing that bugs me. Why do you always have to become the leader of factions? I mean, I am now Arch Mage, but I don't even use that much of magic and I never even visit The College Of Winterhold. Why do you HAVE to become the Arch Mage. It would be nice if you could ask another person to be Arch Mage. Same for the Companions and the Thieves Guild. Why can't I stay an ordinary warrior/thief?
And then the whole Dragonborn thing. I don't like the fact that you are 'chosen'. In my opinion it would be so much cooler to just be an anonymous adventurer, escaped from Helgen, and explore Skyrim, doing some quests. I know this would probably be very boring for some and there would be no Main Quest at all, but still.
After all, Skyrim is an openworld game and the ability to shape your path is one of it's big selling points, so I think it's a shame that this Arch Mage, Listener, etc... and the whole Dragonborn thing is forced upon you.

I dont believe its so much a matter that the armor becomes zero weight, although thats how they make it look. Instead, its more a matter of, youve been wearing it for so long that its become a second skin and comparatively weightless..Theificka wrote:Heavy armor has power that doesn't make sense, it becomes NO weight? Odd thing is, if you switch to light armor after wearing heavy armor all that time, the game still treats you as if you never wore any armor at all.. Weird..

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
So what do i hate?? hmm.. Well, daggerfall was epic for its time, Morrowind is STILL epic, Oblivion was Epic right up to the point where you stood there helplessly and watched the real bad guy get defeated by a guy in a robe with a shiny bauble.. Albeit that guy turned into a stone dragon and he WAS the only person in the game who ever treated you with friendship ( sigh ).. Nothing in Skyrim is epic. I know that sounds odd, but, there isnt one thing beyond some incredible landscape that makes this game epic. Well, one joke was epic ( where whiteruns mage decides to do some biological examination on a dragon ), but in so many ways, its a game that just wears down. Like your first job as a factory worker.. Great at first ( your makin money at least ) then after a time, not so great..

Fighting dragons. Fighting giants. Fighting dragons and giants at the same time. Fighting two dragons at once while being shot at by draugr archers.Nothing in Skyrim is epic.

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
Whats epic about killing a dragon?? Now Riding a dragon, THAT would be cool, but only cool, Riding a dragon at the head of a combined army ( dragons, dunmer, nord, imperials etc), as they push the thalmer back to hell THAT would be epic.. Just like taking out the war machine in oblivion.. And to think, I saved Baurus only to have him die with jauffre.
and i agree.. i'm rather desenitized to the whole thing. Add The entire Halo and Mass Effect line to my game experience and ell, most things are underwhelming any more..

Re: Things you hate about skyrim
I'm really, really starting to hate the NPC detection and world lighting. I have 100 stealth skill, with all the perks, and all my gear is enchanted to improve my stealth, yet it seems that every friggin' monster and random goon knows my exact location in a dark crypt if they so much as catch a fleeting glimpse of a part of my toe, poking out form a corner. Blarg...

dude literally half the things you complained about are common staples of any elder scroll game. Are you just making up reasons for why Skyrim sucks.Dan-Ru wrote:stuff
Honestly, I feel like everyone just has nostalgia generated towards this game and series. Half the people I read bashing this game ofcourse can't just say a reason that's new or introduced. It has to be something that was taken out or left from a previous title. These games aren't going to stay the same forever they're going to change it's five years for every title, some things work out better in the future and honestly, the crowd is getting bigger for this game it's been changing from a hardcore rpg since daggerfall, every new title has had less skills
I mean I find it almost ironic that this is the same crowd that will bash franchises like Call of Duty for being too similar all the time, yet will also bash a great game like Skyrim because it's too different.
Also more directly at Dan, no offense but I just went over your complaints again, can you name me one game in the series that didn't have those same problems.

Where are the Open Lock and Feather spells?
Oh, and don't worry about the constant "haters" (for a lack of a better word). If TES 6 is an exact copy of Morrowind, people will be mad that nothing changed. If TES 6 is an exact copy of Morrowind with improved ideas, people will be mad it's not like TES 3 Morrowind.

Mmmm, I do miss Feather spells - but you can just as easily make (or find, as I did!) clothing and jewelry that helps reduce the weight of what you carry or use a companion, so I think it is an even trade off.Giordano wrote:Where are the Open Lock and Feather spells?
Also, I do miss the lack of container organization...and I hated the UI violently at first. But it's rather grown on me.

probably the thing that bugs me most about Skyrim is the lack of The Arena
You wouldn't believe how many hours I wasted kicking butt then goin' down to the bloodworks to get Slammed by Owyn.
I loved that guy. anyway, Because it's gone it's detracted about 15 hours of my time and taken away some of the fun. ah, well you can't have it all.

The Arena would have been nice, but I still think that it wouldn't have added much, considering it wasn't that good in Oblivion. I think it would have distracted from the Nordic culture in Skyrim.

I hate the amount of quests that can't be completed due to bugs. This ranges from a mildly annoying "hunt a dragon" mission with a missing dragon, to the mess that is the "Butcher of Windhelm" quest. Unofficial Skyrim Patch, where are you?!

The Arena in Oblivion was awesome.FrostMage79x wrote:The Arena would have been nice, but I still think that it wouldn't have added much, considering it wasn't that good in Oblivion.
