Which makes me even more hopeful that I'm right about a Solstheim DLC, as it is a noticeable area not included in this landmass, for some unknown reason.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
There's supposedly still at least one named Dragon who is unaccounted for, and he is mentioned in this source
and named Ahbiilok. Of course this book is quite old, and it's not mentioned Alduin resurrected any Dragons not in Skyrim, but if he never died at all and has been in hiding, well...The_Noob wrote:It would be amazingly generous of Bethesda to make even some of that blank land into legit stuff.
However, a possible DLC expansion into Morrowind seems most likely. The gate to it, after all, is open. Of course, Oblvion did this also, so Bethesda is probably trolling us, as is a habit to them.
Of course the expansion wouldn't have to include Dragons at all, but it's an open hook.
Say, how large were the Shivering Isles?
Pretty damn big. Not as big as the main Cyrodill landmass but the size of three counties put together easily.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.
Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
I would love to go back and explore Cyrodiil again 200 years later as it is now.
For me the ultimate ES game would have all of Tamriel but given the scope of such a project it would take 10 years

It could easily be Morrowind- more specifically, western Morrowind mainland. Would make sense in terms of geography, lore, and would also make for a great expansion.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
Someone mentioned Solstheim; I think that would be cool, seeing as how the Dunmer population is/was entrenched there sometime after the events of IV.
Morrowind would of course be awesome, but given that we're talking about its entirety - it being right on Skyrim's border rather than just Vvardenfell as with III - I'm not sure how that could be pulled off. Maybe a repeat of Tribunal where just a city is designed, to which the player is teleported, but one that's large enough to contain an entire EP.

The fact that there are two gates leading from Skyrim to Morrowind and Cyrodiil say to me that there is a distinct possibility of them being used in some way, shape, or form for DLC, but who knows. Especially the one to Morrowind as it is open, and the one south of Helgen is closed.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
This is exactly what made me think that Morrowind (or a part of it) has a strong chance of becoming a DLC. Some people have said the gates are just for inter-provincial travel, but if they were, wouldn't every one of the gates be open in stead of just a few?Voraxith wrote:The fact that there are two gates leading from Skyrim to Morrowind and Cyrodiil say to me that there is a distinct possibility of them being used in some way, shape, or form for DLC, but who knows. It hink it is just there so you see something that is acurate when you stand up somewhere high. Mind you going to Orsinium would be pretty awesome.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I finally went down to that Morrowind gate (and couldn't pass, what console code lets you pass through it, tcl doesn't work), so I went up on the mountains on the path to the south, there's a ...whatever's Beacon, a ruined tower, full with Vigilants. From the top of that, you can clearly see Morrowind and Red Mountain. I think it was generated just for that, and for what you see from the Throat of the World (from the top, not from Paarthurnax) - though that one is choppy. Anyone else notice that you can actually see the map ending in squares from there? WTF, guys, make it a circle!Knight Captain Kerr wrote:It hink it is just there so you see something that is acurate when you stand up somewhere high. Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
I doubt it's dlc. Remember oblivion? That had landmasses too. if it was for dlc, then the textures, and detail would be greater. As for modders? I sort of agree. I don't think the space is there for modders to use, but rather as a mod set in skyrim, e.g. far render distance, or flyable dragons mod. It's obvious that these mods casn take advantage of these locations.
EDIT: You know what would be awesome? A three disc morrowind, oblivion and skyrim edition. Why? This: 'Your character is now entering skyrim/morrowind/oblivion, please insert the correct disc. Just imagine using the same character in different lands. I don't mean the same character story wise, although it is a possibility, I mean the same looking character.

I wonder why the developers placed the extra barren land there.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
It's actually kind of a pain to get to. You have to go south of Helgen, till you find a place called Fort Neugrad, then keep going south, cross over some rocky terrain till you get to a place called Southfringe Sanctum. Just further south over a crest is a little path that leads up to a stone wall arch with a closed wooden gate. That is the path to Cyrodiil. (My directions might be a little off -- been a while since I've gone that way, but it's somewhere in that direction.)POMC S117 wrote:A gate leading to Cyrodill? Where?
To be able to pass through the gate, you have to tweak your Skyrim.ini file. In My Documents/My Games/Skyrim there is a file called Skyrim/ini -- open that up and at the bottom of the General category, paste this " bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 " without the quotes or spaces, then save. You can now travel beyond the invisible Skyrim border.NLN wrote:Yeah, that's what I thought too. As for your speculation, it IS entirely possible that that is the whole reason why that was put there, but it doesn't explain why the White-Gold Tower is actually modelled (somewhat) over the Imperial City -- there is absolutely no point in the game that you can see that, unless you actually go over those mountains. Not even from the high point of the Throat of the World can you see that. So again, why?
True: but Oblivion didn't have the gates at the passes leading there, did it?The Silent Striker wrote:I doubt it's dlc. Remember oblivion? That had landmasses too.

I blieve there are a fe gates to cyrodiil. I remember incountering one that was open down south by Falkreath I believe, but when I tried to pass under it I simply just stopped (or ran in place, I cant remember) and I got that 'You cannot go this way " Message.

Was it open or closed? Because if it was open, then it is a different gate then the one that I found.Anonymous98223 wrote:I blieve there are a fe gates to cyrodiil. Personally I just think that they made it for fun, as an easter egg. Bethesda knows that some people will bypass the invisible border and go beyond it so they've made other provinces just for the sake of it.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
I think there are a few possible explanations for this.
1. The developers might've been bored one night and decided to create more of Tamriel outside of Skyrim just for the heck of it.
2. Bethesda might've just put it in as a placeholder, or a joke.
3. A bit of a helping hand to modders intending to implement the rest of Tamriel into the game. I rather doubt this, seeing as most people lack the creativity or the dedication required to do something of such scale for no pay.
4. Future DLC. Frankly, as much as I hate to say it, I just don't see this one happening.

Re: Most of Tamriel's Landmass Generated Beyond Skyrim's Bor
I'd die right there if the DLC actually went to Morrowind as I still feel like I belong there, even if playing another game and practically never playing a Dunmer (especially not in there), but I don't think that will happen. If it will, it won't have anything to do with the already rendered map, maybe Solstheim or a closed-in city, yes, but not just walking out of Skyrim and walking into the other province.
HOWEVER, I can see a DLC with Thalmor conflict, and maybe that could take us a little over the borders to fight them/see them attacking Skyrim? That would justify putting the White-Gold Tower into the distance, from that far away it would look great, if maybe a little hazy from all those clouds.
The gates could be like Keening: completely unusable, but keeping the Morrowind (Oblivion) fanboys/girls sighing in front of them for hours. They DID try to include references to other games this time.
Oh, and thank you muchly for the ini tweak!

So I thought I would just post pictures of the "exits" I have found so far. I don't remember if anyone already posted these as taken by them, so here are mine. NOTE: LARGE IMAGES.
This is taken from Southwestern Skyrim, which may lead into either High Rock or Hammerfell:
This one was taken on the other side of that same gate, to show that you can actually go through it a little ways.
This one is south of Helgen and I will assume it is where you would supposedly be crossing the border at the start of the game. Gate is closed, and I didn't see anyway of getting around it (without cheating).
