Skyrim Hold Wars

Post by PsijicOrder »

This is just something i'm creating for my own personal use while I play Skyrim. I'm trying to take realism to the extreme and create my Skyrim experience more based on strategy. You can edit this to your liking in any way you want! Comments/Questions/Suggestions? Post them as a reply! This is my first major attempt so tell me if you enjoy it!

==The Hold Wars==

The 4th Era began with the end of the Oblivion Crisis and the sacrifice of Martin Septim. The Mythic Dawn had finally been destroyed releasing Skyrim of it's suppression. With the lift of the Daedric siege, Skyrim went back to it's old ways. It had divided back into it's separate Holds, each content on staying independent. It was a time of peace and prosperity for Skyrim, each Hold fending for their own. Soon it would change. Greed and corruption would eventually spread within the Holds, possibly changing Skyrim forever.

==Starting Off==

Alright, so basically this is just Skyrim Total War. Your goal is to conquer all of Skyrim for your Hold. You will fist need to choose which Hold you wish to support in the war effort. Choose your Hold wisely. Think of what natural resources you'll really have and the design of your Hold's Landscape. When you've decided on a Hold you like, make note of the Hold's Guard Uniform. These are your colors. You will create a character that is a male/female Nord. Upon the creation of your character, you may want to give them warpaint in your Hold's colors. Upon escaping Helgen, you should return to your Hold's city, either walking or by a carriage.

==Rules of Engagement==

At some point during your ruling, you're going to want to go to war. War costs money and resources, and lots of them! In order to completely take a Hold, you're going to have to make quite a bit of preparation and fund raising before launching your assault. When you decide that you're going to launch this assault, you must take into effect many different things.

Difficulty
The difficulty level you choose when fighting against your enemy is determined by many things. You should set your difficulty to master as a default when you begin. Now this level can be decreased by doing a number of things. Each of the items on the list below allow you to go down one additional level of difficulty. You can even create your own ideas. Just keep them realistic!
*Building a Catapult. [Requires 300 firewood, 50 Iron Ingots; Max of Three; Never Destroyed.]
*'Spending' 10k. [Temporary, Lasts a week.]
*Forging 25 weapons and 'Spending' them. [Temporary, Lasts a week.]
*Forging 25 pieces of armor and 'Spending' them. [Temporary, Lasts a week.]
*Waiting 1 week before assaulting a city under siege. [Stackable; Invalid after Hold under siege is taken.]

Siege
Siege is determined when all a Hold's exterior guards have been eliminated. Cities without walls cannot be held under siege. After a hold is under siege by you, to claim it, you must kill all interior guards laying siege to the castle. After entering the castle, pay off your bounty, this is the cost of your damage. If you cannot pay, then your city is useless to you and will run ravage with anarchy and rebellion. Of course, you could just sack the castle and leave it be. A Siege can be completely avoided if you choose to buy out the town instead, costing you 75k.

Companions
Your companion must be a hireling so you will have to renew their contract. Make sure to equip your hireling with your Hold's Armor.

Alliances
You may find that you want to become allies with another hold. If this is the case, you must hold a 'court' to decide whether it will pull through. Remember, be realistic, no Hold you've campaigned against previously will help you when you're desperate and have nothing to offer them in return. This may take bribery and deposits of money if you have wronged the hold previously! Advantaged of alliances are that you may freely use their resources and their services. If you are not allied with a Hold, you must have a bounty so that guards will stop you.

Occupying a Hold
To properly occupy a hold, you've got to have the manpower, the resources, and the gold. You must deposit 15k and 100 Firewood to each of the Hold's you've taken, every month. If you cannot afford to maintain a hold, you must abandon it and wait for it to respawn with guards, then take it over once more. You'll never have to pay anything for your starting hold. It's always there for you to call home.

==Raising Funds==

Upon your arrival to your chosen Hold, you must begin raising funds for your City by exploiting your Hold's resources. When 'Spending' Gold or Resources, deposit them in a chest somewhere inside the city. This may include working a mill for firewood, fishing in local streams or lakes, or even diving into crypts in search of enchanted artifacts. Gold is going to be important. You may need it to bribe another Hold's official, or buy a catapult you don't have the resources to build. Gold will also be helpful for buying food for your family and you instead of always going out and obtaining it yourself. You will also need gold to pay those who work for you, occasionally depositing money and valuables into a container in their home.

==Strategies==
How you divide and rule is up to you. Who you are is up to you. Will you use economics to buy out your enemies? Or will you slaughter them all and ransack their city. It's up to you, but here's a few roleplaying tips for making your take over more realistic. These are but a few, you can come up with your own too!
*Assassinate key diplomats.
*Cut them off from supplies from land and port.
*Poison the city's food supply/water by dropping poison down the well or in the taverns storeroom.
*Take a Fort closer to the city, providing closer relief for you and your 'soliders'.
*Take key positions before assaulting the Hold.
*Look for secret entrances in the City.
*'Pay' Spies in the city for information.
*Complete favors in a Hold to gain the favor of the people.
*Steal resources from town services.
*Ambush soldiers with mines [fire runes] and free their prisoners.

I'm moving this to The Arts. The Roleplaying section is strictly for threads that offer a roleplaying game. It isn't for the type of roleplaying you're talking about.

This isn't really about the game so I think it would be better here.
