Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Sayeal drew a small necklace from under her shirt. a small circle with three gems in the shape of drops. Each one glowed a different color.
"I natively speak several languages, Franco, and tamrelic is one of them, though things have changed in the years since I last visited, back when the Direnni Tower was last modified. Those I do not speak are easily translated for me so long as this is within my possession."
Sayeal twisted the gem, letting the light shine between the gems as they reflected and refracted the light. She smiled. "I created this back when I was in the imperial city, with the backing of the arcane university. I was allowed to keep one. Only two others exist, one is in the possession of the emperor's court, the ruling council, so they may appoint it to those who speak in their defense. The other was given to the emperor or empress, to be passed down, so that he could hear and understand all of his people."
she twisted it again, marveling at the way it shone.
----------
Dashyr smiled, suprised once again by the argonian.
"indeed my friend, you see what so many do not. To know your weapon is to know when to use your weapon. Anyone can aim and fire, that requires very little skill, only keen eyesight. Yet to know a blade, bow, dagger, or shield, you must incorporate it, know it's weight and balance, and the effective ways to use it. By learning those, you also learn when it is appropriate."
he paused.
"were it that the sword so common as it once was, you would not have been harmed the way you were. My ideals are dying, the weapons, those complicated machines that are so easy to operate, are gaining favor. They require little training, so nations favor them for their armies. I fear Sayeal and our kind are fading."
He sighed.
"Sad, really, I have rarely met someone that I truly respected who could not wield a blade."
he glanced up at his argonian friend, and immediately stopped, realizing that yes, he did view the argonian as a friend. Until that point, he had viewed friendship as a weapon, a way to get close to his quarry, or to keep those he could not defeat on his good side. That brought his total to two, he supposed.
"But then again, few realize thier own shortcoming the way you do."
He nodded, impressed once again, and dipped a bowl of soup from the pot over the fire, which he slid to the argonian.
"Enjoy."

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Leel thankfully accepted the bowl, consuming its contents over the span of the next several minutes while continuing his intriguing conversation with Dashyr.
"The example you noted is exactly the kind of thing that I was thinking of myself. The bit with Bonaparte and myself." Leel set the empty bowl to one side of his person and took a short drink from his small, tea-filled metal flask before continuing.
"I would have much preferred that the cretin had cut me down in a duel of blades than dispatch me in the way that he did- even if I was sure to lose the battle. It simply seems a more appropriate way to match strengths." Leel drew his well-kept, thin-handled revolver as he spoke; not the weapon he had received from Chevalier, but his other, more practical firearm. He had modified and optimized it himself, and it was the piece which he most often chose to carry whether walking the streets or when working in his shop.
"I suppose I'm only adding to the problem of impersonality," Leel noted, gesturing to the firearm.
"I must apologize. I'm contributing to the downfall of your and Sayeal's kind."

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Franco sported a small and unnecessarily sarcastic grin. "Well, I am just so overjoyed that you have a little magical gadget for every bloody situation you cross." he growled. "Truly. I just adore hearing of your tales of your days in the Arcane University, or your time married to your treacherous husband, or your rancid son, or-"
"Franco!" Isabel snapped. "What in Akatosh's name has gotten into you!?"
Franco frowned. A small spark of irritation flashed across his pupils. "I shall head to the sleeping car." he murmured, standing from his chair and tossing his cane from one hand to the other. "I need my rest. I will allow you two to conduct your...conversations with one another."
Isabel tapped her fingers on the table. "I love you." she muttered, clearly angered by her husband's previous words.
"Yes." Franco replied. "I love you too." He turned towards the exit, glancing at Sayeal with a completely neutral expression. "Stay here." he ordered the Mandrid.
The Mandrid let out a short cry, but laid down obediently. Without another word, Franco left the room.
"Aww," Isabel said to the Mandrid sympathetically. "Come here, sweetheart."
The Mandrid stood, sitting on the floor beside Isabel'a chair. Isabel gently stroked its head. The creature purred. "I am sorry about my husband's behavior." Isabel said to Sayeal. "He is very easily agitated lately. I do hope you will take nothing he says too personally. He does love you." She paused. "Anyway, I am excited for you to see the city of Evermor. It is where I grew up. And...it is where I met Franco."

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Spoiler:
The buildings were much like those in the Imperial city but it felt like a cleaner place.
Antus sported the Witch-hunters uniform, they were almost unheard of in High Rock and their fued with the Rex family was over since he sent his cretinous little experiments to the house of each and every Witch-hunter in the city, it amazed Antus how the Legion had not destroyed the Rex family after that incident, not to mention the slavery he and Leel had found on the grounds of the Villa, even though the man had legitimate means of income most of his moeny was gained through disgusting means. Antus swore that if he ever got the chance and the means he would go back to that Villa and free every last slave, bringing an entire legion no-one would be able to stop him from freeing them.
He imagined doing so, he liked the idea even if he did know in reality he would never be able to gain authorisation the march into the grounds of the richest man in Cyrodiil and take his property even if he had no right to own them, but he could dream.
He knew what to do when the group arrived in the city he would watch the funeral from a distant vantage point and sneak in to wherever they stayed afterwards and meet Sayeal they could discuss their next move in the upcoming crisis there.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Spoiler:
"Very wrong." she whispered.
----------
You will enjoy me, my chosen, though you fight me with every ounce of your power, you will fail, or perhaps you will prevail, and chaos wins yet again. As champion of the madgod, you will know power you have never known, and power that can not be contained, power that can not be controlled, you will walk the edge of chaos, the edge of a dagger, fall one way, and peaceful death will find you, fall the other, and chaos will take your soul, twist it, and have you beg for death. It is while you walk that line, that sweet, deadly line that others will fear you.
Franco sat, listening to the words bouncing through his head. He stopped to ponder the words carefully and asked a simple question.
"Why me"
the answer came softly.
why not?
----------
Dashyr smiled and shook his head. "No, my reptilian friend, you are not leading to our decline. Sayeal will always have the sword and the spell, it is her way, and the oblivion lords themselves can not take that from her. Should she be outmatched, outgunned, and outwitted, she would never draw a gun, the symbol of those that harmed her, those that took from her. She carried one for years, and I never heard a shot fired, she did so as cover."
he stopped to refill his cup with a light mead and his bowl with the thick stew.
"And as for myself, I view those who use the guns, those who fail to realize their own shortcomings, are often quite secure and confident, they fail to take the most basic of precautions that warriors such as myself and Sayeal embody. They disdain traps as an inconvienence, they view magic as outdated, and that is when my blade sings the sweetest, when it is unexpected."
he grinned, his catlike ears drawing back on his head.
"and besides, the clamor those infernal devices make don't exactly mold themselves to my needs, it is generally preferred to not let every guard within a square ten miles know you've killed someone."
he grinned, paused, and cocked his ear to the left. He drew a small dagger, picking his teeth with the pointed end. Suddenly, he stood, shouted two words sharply into the air and heard a soft, muffled scream.
"Draw your gun." he whispered and stepped into the shadows, blending in as he strapped his bow into its clips on his back, sheating both daggers.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Spoiler:
Isabel took a deep breath. "But I love him. He's the father of my son. And he loves Lucien and I more than anything in this world. He would never harm me, and he certainly would never harm my child. He loves us as much as we love him." She grinned as though recalling an old memory. "When I was a teenager, my mother warned me never to kiss a member of the Rex family. She claimed that the Rex family had a love charm cast upon them during ancient times, and that the second your lips connect with those of a Rex, you will instantly fall in love with him. I thought it was just an idiotic lie until the night Franco kissed me for the first time. I went completely limp in his arms. I became infatuated with him. And that feeling of inescapable love remains within me to this day. By the Nine, he was so gorgeous and charming. I couldn't resist him. I still can't. Every time I look at him, my heart begins to pound with passion."
__________
Franco chuckled. "I do not appreciate the control of Daedric Princes." he stated as he entered the sleeping car. "And I do not fear them. I am married under the law of the Nine, and I am confirmed under the law of the Nine. I worship no Daedric Prince...nor do I follow the commands of one."

Leel promptly complied with Dashyr's firm suggestion; his gun was already drawn, however, as he had been observing it in relation to the pair's conversation, and so he simply readied the weapon before slipping into place, a bit awkwardly, behind Dashyr.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
I don't ask that you worship, and I don't ask that you change what you are... I am perfectly willing to do that for you. I don't even ask that you obey, for what is chaos if it contains rules? I ask only that you continue with your path... Chaos and dementia... who else would devise a creature such as the mandrid? who else would devise a creature so chaotic, developing it in secret, at great cost to yourself, using it in one swift act of vengance, eliminating everyone and everything that has wronged you at once, and then, in a sudden chaotic reign, you destroy them, every last one, save the one you reign in at your side. You bring fond memories, Dear Franco, of those who once worshiped me. Those who once called to me in fits of madness.
The words continued to bounce within Franco's head as he slid into the lavish bed that took nearly the entire cabin.
----------
The Khajit stood, helpless, as the swirls of dark energy surrounded him. Dashyr's spell had caught him entirely. He softly whimpered as the energy bit strongly into his life force. Not enough to kill him, but more than enough to prevent movement or speech. He could only hope the guards arrived soon.
----------
Dashyr watched the Khajit fight the energy void he had placed. He made it a habit of thouroughly trapping any campsite he spent time at, trusting his keen senses and reflexes to give him the time to activate them. He had heard the fellow Khajit break a twig and had enacted the void, using his cry of pain to draw out others. He nodded softly as Leel slid into place beside him. He placed his head near the argonian's ear and whispered softly
"Three more, one magic user, two with very large swords. I'll handle the mage."
Leel nodded and Dashyr slid sideways, around the tree, lowering his hood to cover his face as he did so. He moved to the back of another khajit and slipped a dagger against his throat as he grasped his left hand, which held a nasty looking staff.
"Speak your name, and your business here." He whispered softly.
the Khajit turned and glared at him from the corner of one eye.
"Please inform me as to why a merchant of my caravan is within your infernal spell. As to my name, you may call me Blacktail."
Dashyr growled softly and dug the blade in, just a bit more.
"What is your business here?"

"I believe I should sleep." Isabel said to Sayeal, taking one final sip from her wine glass. "We have a very long day ahead of us tomorrow. I recommend you rest as well."
She elegantly stood and placed her hands on Sayeal's cheeks. "Goodnight, Sayeal." she said, kissing the Altmer woman on the forehead. The Mandrid followed Isabel out of the dining car.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Leel crouched a bit lower still, peering sharply to and fro in an anxious attempt to identify the swordsmen who's presence Dashyr had so confidently warned of. His revolver was grasped firmly in his hand as he went about the stationary search, infinitely prepared, as was any such uncaring weapon, to be raised, readied, and fired as quickly as the Argonian's reflexes would allow.
Leel eventually spotted the one warrior a ways from his own position; he assumed, for better or for worse, that the foe was alone, as he and his comrades would likely have spread themselves in order to aptly surround the campsite. He was of that certain figure that appeared unattainably confident, and seemed to display this through his stance, if only to one as humble as Leel- the trait was disheartening despite. Leel continued nevertheless, raising himself upon tip-toe and stepping deliberately as to close the distance between himself and the man undetected.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Antus booked into a hotel, nothing like the inns of the other countries, except the classier places in Cyrodiil perhaps.
He entered his room, he was fortunate to have a second floor room with a veiw of the streets, nothing to see out there now apart from the night sky, still beautiful.
As he lay on the beg staring at the ceiling he wondered it would take for the Rex family to arrive, considering they were on a train it shouldn't have taken to long, he'd arrived by carriage, however the driver had drove his horses on to near-death.
He felt like an assassin, waiting for the target to arrive and observing from a distance, constantly waiting, it wouldn't be the first time he'd done that to catch a sorceror.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Spoiler:
"You do well, and your path is clear."
A sigh escaped her lips as her lady's word spread through her thoughts. Comfort flooded her and she slept peacefully.
----------
Dashyr slid his blade upward, swiftly slitting the other's throat, he had noticed it, if Leel had not.
"DOWN." He roared, and nodded grimly as Leel hit the dirt, only his tail sticking up. The lightning bolt split the air, just above where Leel lay prone. Dashyr now stood in it's path, but he barely flinched as one of his amulets glowed softly and drew the errant bolt to one of the four pendants dangling from the chain. He grinned and with hardly a hesitation drew his bow and had four arrows flying along the same path. A soft grunt and a massive burst of necromantic energy heralded the death of the mage. He called two more traps up, winking a barrier around himself and Leel at the same time that fire erupted through the camp, searing the nearest warrior badly and neatly incinerating the other. Another mage walked from the camp, hardly injured. Dashyr held his amulet in his left hand and held his right toward the mage in question.
"Selvir" he whispered, and lightning, the very same that had been directed at his companion moments before, threw the mage against a tree, where he did not rise. Dashyr turned his bow to the wounded one and drew the arrow.
"You will speak. Who are you?"
the khajit traveller, a large sword slid across his back, cursed, spat and glared down the assassin. "I will give you nothing."
Dashyr flinched, and with that motion, a dagger whistled through the air, piercing the Khajit in the hand, another three pierced each leg and his other arm.
"Speak. Why attack me, I hold no ill will toward you."
The Khajit smiled, a deep, disconcerting smile, and whispered softly.
"Clavicus Vile sends his regards."
with that he spoke two words and a deep blackness erupted around him, killing him instantly and leaving only bones and a few tufts of fur.
"Darkness take it." Dashyr swore. "Drama, Drama, Drama, why can't they just talk?" He began sifting through the mage's belongings, holding up a few rings and a small dagger.
"Take your share, my friend, these are difficult times, and that one looks like his sword may fit you." He indicated the one he had originally killed. "Blacktail I belive he said."
Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Spoiler:
"Thank you, Dashyr-" Leel was a bit winded given the violence which he had so recently witnessed, and so took a moment to regain his breath; satisfied, he soon continued.
"I'll ensure that this blade is well taken care of." Leel proceeded to rummage briefly through the other slain attackers' belongings, though he found little to his liking. He had been obviously disturbed by the last opponent's reference to Clavicus Vile- he glanced toward Dashyr nervously, expecting some sort of explanation as to the gravity of such a relation.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
The rest of the journey went smoothly. The armored train thundered through the vast valleys, beautiful woodlands, and ruthless deserts of Hammerfell. It was not long before they crossed the Hammerfell-High Rock border. The wondrous city of Evermor did not lay far.
Evermor exemplified the proud traditions of the Breton race. Gothic cathedrals had been modified to look more modern, yet they still possessed incredible appearances that reminded many of the past. The architecture was unique - beautiful in very way. Colorful flowers and exotic foliage was everywhere. And the people fit into this environment perfectly. The nobles and wealthy wore stunning clothing, much like the clothing commonly worm by Isabel. It was difficult to find just one bad-looking individual. It was bizarre. Everyone was beautiful!
The train roared into the Evermor International Train Station - another train station that had been created by Chevalier and his railroad company. A massive battalion of Imperial Legion soldiers awaited them there. At the head of the soldiers was a mid-height, extremely handsome man who looked as though he was in his early sixties. He had a short, well-groomed white beard and a head of thick silver hair. He wore a nobleman's outfit and carried an ornamental cane just like Franco. He was the Governor of Evermor. He was Isabel'a father.
"Do you see that man?" Isabel asked Sayeal, pointing to her father. "That is my father. He is the governor. Show him extreme amounts of respect for him."

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Dashyr stood, calmly pocketing the things he viewed important. A few enchanted baubles and only one or two pieces he wanted to add to his collection. He turned to his companion and held his hand out, where Leel placed the blade, handle first, still in it's scabbard. Dashyr drew a small gem from his pocket, placed it against the blade, and nodded when it turned a dark black color. He handed it back to Leel and went to inspect the bodies Leel had passed over.
"powerfully enchanted, though safe to wield, I'd avoid hitting anything you don't mean to kill."
A small dagger drew his eye, not enchanted, but it still contained a nice gem in the pommel. he pocketed it and moved back to his companion.
"Time will tell whether you master that blade, and I'm more than willing to teach you, though for the time being, stick to the weapons you know."
Leel nodded once again, and whispered. "Clavicus vile?"
Dashyr sighed. "daedric lord of bargins, though he seems to come out on top more often than not. He's normally a rouge and stays out of the affairs of the others, unless he sees something in it for him. The fact that he's in this brings a card to the hand that I did not expect. Come, we will sleep, we take wing tomorrow."
Dashyr drew his cloak around him and slept with his back against the tree nearby, keeping watch. He sighed softly and watched his companion sleep soundly, his newfound sword wrapped carefully a mere few feet away. He did not sleep all the night, worried about the lord of bargins. He asked his matron, though she offered no advice.
----------
Sayeal nodded, and bowed to the man as she stepped off the train, she had traded her normal traveling cloak for an elegant dark blue gown, complete with headdress and several of her more flashy rings. Despite appearances she was still safer than most knights in full armor would be. She accepted his offered hand as she stepped down, and nodded graciously.
"Thank you, and we appreciate this welcome."
He nodded and turned to Isabel and Franco as they stepped out of the carriage, Franco stepping down first and then helping his bride.
Isabel nodded softly and gently embraced her father.
Sayeal glanced at Franco, still noting the halo of energy, though well diminished, that surrounded him. A worried look crossed her face, though she said nothing.
----------
Come, my chosen, you fear for your wife... Civil war between the Daedra, and her petite form the perfect target for anyone wanting to get to you? The power I provide, the chaos I control, will give you the power you need, nothing can touch you, nothing can predict you, you spend vast fortunes on oil, would it not be better to simply take these things, step into chaos, draw it's magics, you can command them to do as you will... Say what you will, my chosen, but you detest these highborn nobles, these who have never lifted a sword, never fought for what they desired. Silver spoon in mouth. Draw that power, make them dance for you. I warn you, chaos swings both ways my champion, embrace it, or it will tear you apart...
Franco grimaced again as the words echoed through his head. he turned to Isabel's father and shook his hand.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Antus watched the greeting at the train yard, from a distance of course, while in High Rock he'd had plenty of time to stew over his hate of Franco Rex, it had become a Vendetta, he wanted to ruin that man, just as he had destroyed his, his entire biological and witch-hunter family wiped out by the Mandrids in a single night.
"That's quite an entourage just for a few people going to a funeral" He thought setting aside the scope he'd used to watch the arrival, now he had to think about how to contact her, if only he'd kept the ring.
He decided to spend some time in the city rather than thinking about revenge and getting depressed, he decided that it was the best city he'd ever been to, everything was beautiful there, and there was enough entertainment to pass the time, but he was eager to get back to Cyrodiil and work out how to stop the possible Daedra attack.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Silence, my idiotic lover of insanity. You know little of my thoughts. 'Detest these highborn nobles'? My goodness, you have forgotten that my beautiful, loyal, admirable wife was born amongst these nobles as well. These men and women are the maternal relatives of my only son. And let us not forget that I am descended from ancient nobles. My great-grandfather branched away from the grounds of High Rock. He brought the House of Rex into Cyrodiil, and made us the most prominent family on Tamriel. I do not detest these people. I tolerate them. And I would never bow to another being - be it a man, deity, or animal. My wife is in very little danger. Very few have seen what she is capable of, and I shield her with everything I have...including my own life. In conclusion, I deny your offer. And I shall never accept it. You may view this as a foolish decision. Bloody hell...Allying yourself with a deity - a Daedra, no less - is the most foolish decision one can make.
“Mister Durand.” Franco calmly greeted his father-in-law, firmly shaking the man’s hand.
There was a powerful tension between the two. Isabel’s father nodded with a slight frown. “Franco.” he responded edgily. “Have you, by any chance, insulted, beaten, or raped my only daughter recently?” By his tone of voice, it could easily be seen that the Governor of Evermor was joking. But there was a sense of seriousness in his voice as well. It was strange.
Franco grinned. “Every day.” he replied sarcastically. “I have been known to lash my son with a whip as well.”
Isabel’s eyes had gone wide. She always feared encounters between her husband and father. The tension was just too much to bear. Yet her father only grunted and turned to Sayeal. “I apologize for my informalities.” he said kindly. “My son-in-law and I were merely teasing one another. My name is Théodore Durand. I am the Governor of Evermor. And you must be…”
“Sayeal Bourdabas.” Isabel answered for Sayeal. “She is surely the finest mage in Cyrodiil.”
“Ah, the fair Altmer woman you mentioned in your letters.” Théodore said with a nod. “How wonderful.”
“Father…” Isabel giggled. “I believe that Miss Bourdabas should meet a certain Undyon Sinyramoon tonight at the celebration. She is a widow.”
Théodore chuckled. “Unless a woman shows true magical potential, Lord Sinyramoon is bound to be completely uninterested.”
“That is why I believe she is the perfect woman for him.” Isabel stated. “And he is the perfect man for her.”
“Enough of this idiotic romance.” Franco cut in, tapping his cane onto the ground. “Let us make our ways toward the estate. I wish to see my son.”
“Very well.” Théodore responded.
Five massive carriages awaited the guests. One carriage for Théodore, Isabel, Franco, and Sayeal, another carriage for Romulus and Théodore’s various servants he had brought with him, and the other three for the soldiers. Théodore, Franco, Isabel, and the Mandrid swiftly climbed into one of the carriages.
“Come, Miss Bourdabas.” the Governor of Evermor said to Sayeal. “Let us head to my villa.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI: Apocalypse RPG
Ah, I see. Well then, perhaps I seek another to champion me, or perhaps I simply drive you mad, denying me now is the worst mistake you could make. Those who ally themselves with the daedra know nothing but the highest of power, the highest of security, and I'll thank you to remember that I require no man bow his head to me. I don't seek to castrate your pride, Franco, that would weaken the chaos that surrounds you, I merely wish to watch the chaos you are sure to create using the power I can bestow on you. If one of your precious nine had come to you, Talos, or perhaps Mara, who your wife prays to, would your tune have changed? Is it simply that I'm a daedra, or that I embody the madness and chaos so prevalent in your own life? Allow me to bestow you a gift my friend, no strings attached. You need not see it as a symbol of my rule, as you bowing a knee, or even an association with me in any way, I offer it only to show my goodwill. A simple word, uttered from your lips, and I will destroy those who seek to harm you. The word is my name. She may not be the pretty flower she appears, but all are vulnerable, dear Franco, all are vulnerable.
Franco physically stopped himself from shaking. His hand clenched tightly.
----------
Sayeal boarded the carriage, accepting the hand of the mayor as she stepped up. Though she was not used to walking in the fine clothes that she so detested, they were at least light, and the heels she wore were enchanted to find sure footing wherever she stepped.
An uneasy feeling settled over her, the carriage appeared safe, and no overt sign of danger presented itself, but as she sat, a shiver went down her spine. She pushed it away and settled into the seat. She mentally called her lesser wards into being, very slight, and unnoticable, but enough to deflect a spell or arrow long enough to enact larger magics.
I sense ill beasts here She spoke mentally, through the link she shared with the lady of dawn.
a sense of peace settled over her, and she mentally shrugged, if Azura was not worried, neither was she.
"So," she spoke to the man across from her, her oldest friend's father. "How long have you been the mayor of high rock? I was here many, many years ago, though I was simply here to oversee some work on the Direnni Tower, and saw little else of the city."
----------
Dashyr woke the argonian at dawn, and onward they flew. From a perch high in the city, they watched the train enter the station several days later, and then flew again outside the city to take their rest after the others had departed in the carriages.
"I find it hard to believe that someone would mount an attack on them while they are under the governer's protection, they are safe enough as it stands." Dashyr spoke to his companion as they worked to set up camp for the night. "still, I feel we should scout. I will go out tomorrow, on foot, and scout around the city. I think it safer for you to take wing, an overwatch is quite useful when covering this much ground. Cry out twice if you spot anything while overhead, then land nearby as soon as it is safe, I will find you. Cry out once each quarter hour, so I know you are safe."
Leel nodded, standard procedure for patrol duty. His time as a member of the witch-hunters may not have been his proudest moments, but the training certianly hadn't hurt anything, though they never actually asked him to patrol, he had been taught the basics.
Dashyr walked to a nearby tree and with a single leap, enhanced by the boots he wore, he nestled into a branch just below the top. He drove his dagger into the branch beside him, and hung his bow from it, within easy reach.
"I take the watch tonight, you have a harder day tomorrow, wings tire before legs."
Franco physically stopped himself from shaking. His hand clenched tightly.
