Hah, I've seen people banned altogether from Xbox Live for hundreds of years. x3

I love how companies can now revoke access to your product without monetary recompense. Progress!

Re: MW3 cheater banned for 5000 days... (not a joke).
Wow, that has to be one of the least informative articles I've ever read. Lets start with the first sentence:
Moving on, this was such a vague and unhelpful statement, I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish:
I know I got way off on a tangent there, but that just completely amused me. I want to go see what other "articles" Eric Bush wrote on that website.
And Doros, I guess its like the Human CentiPad. There is probably some user agreement somewhere that says that they are allowed to do that, and this guy did't bother. Now granted, I mean he cheated so he had to know if he got caught he would get in trouble, but I doubt he bothered to be aware of the potential consequences.
Excuse me? I think I understand what you were trying to say there, but let's proofread a bit before we publish something. If you thinking cheating always win the team over at Infinity Ward, including community manager Robert Bowling, want you to know that there is nothing further from the truth.
Moving on, this was such a vague and unhelpful statement, I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish:
Let's assume I don't know what MP is, glad that was explained. Oh and then they used it in the context of a website that I really don't know about, clarifying things even farther. Thanks! And its always a fantastic idea to use the word epically, which really shows you are serious. This sentence should be the caption to the picture, not the statement that is supposed to be explaining what happened. An anonymous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player sent an image to MP focused website MP1st.com of the notice they got when logging into MW3's epically popular online multiplayer.
These last two sentences are actually fairly good however. There is a little bit of humor, a good lesson here, and a warning. Too bad I still don't know what this guy did to get banned. Reading the article, I don't even know if the user cheated, maybe he just got banned for 5000 days as a warning not to cheat. The note informed the cheater that they had a measly 4998 days left on their ban, effectively banning them from online play for a little over a decade. Mr. Bowling himself confirmed that this was in fact a real ban and that cheating does in fact, not pay; so watch out and play by the rules, otherwise you could find yourself out of luck until the year 2025.

Most people don't stop to think of the consequences of their actions to begin with; you only have to look at our prisons and court systems to see that.

It's in the user agreement that they have the right to revoke access to the service not they're problem if people don't bother to read it before doing something stupid.DorostheConqueror wrote:I love how companies can now revoke access to your product without monetary recompense. Progress!

Just because they have the right doesn't mean they should. 5000 days is a little harsh.Berzerker wrote:It's in the user agreement that they have the right to revoke access to the service not they're problem if people don't bother to read it before doing something stupid.DorostheConqueror wrote:I love how companies can now revoke access to your product without monetary recompense. There are those who've been banned from (XBL? PSN?) until the year 9999.
Brutal.

Re: MW3 cheater banned for 5000 days... (not a joke).
Some dumb teen underestimated my knowledge and tried to threaten to get me banned for "like, 5000 years" because I killed him when he was getting a care package, on Black Ops.
I wasn't impressed. I just told the teenager that I wasn't that dumb, and I remembered one of my old friends doing the exact same lie to someone else(while I constantly told the poor guy, "Don't worry, my friend's lying. Just ignore him, he does this.")

it is a mystery
