Would you an Elder Scrolls RTS?

Post by Boulderheart »

I was thinking earlier that, well Blizzard made an RTS game into an (MMO)RPG. And I thought how fun it would be to control armies of soldiers that we see in Elder Scrolls, control the Imperial Legion, command rebellions.

I'm not saying it would have to be an Elder Scrolls VI, or it even has to be canon, but personally I feel it would be quite fun. Sure it wouldn't be the strongest sibling of the ES family, but I can't deny that playing a strategic game including ES characters, races and provinces would be fun!
So what do you guys think?

Ahh that would be heaven. Must be canon though! :D
Reminds me of the EverQuest RTS though, which unfortunately was a flop.
I can't picture Bethesda ever actually making an RTS however.

No, simply because I don't like RTS games

At this point, I'd buy any TES title just for the lore

It could also better display the tactics of the individual region's armies, like the guerrilla warfare of the Argonians, or a mix of Dunmer battlemages and infantry/bowmen.

If put in the right hands, I think a TES RTS would be great!

Yeah, I think it could work. Even going back to the ol' Command & Conquer games on PSX, there was a lot of great thought put into the campaign. It wasn't like a training course for PVP, it was well-thought out missions designed to familiarize the player with each individual unit (which in turn did ready one for PVP). Such could be done with an ES RTS, so that each campaign would be more like a birds-eye view of your standard ES game, where one controls a unit of varying Class/ archetype, which would be user-friendly for the old ES players, and gradually introduces the more fundamental RTS bits -- that is, open, large-scale warfare.

I'd be all for it.

It would be fun if they did it right.
Halo, the god of FPS's turned RTS with Halo wars. Great concept and could of been done much better, but bungie half a**ed it by turning it over to a studio on its way out.

For god sakes Todd, if you consider this, LEARN FROM BUNGIE'S MISTAKES.

Maybe let another company develop it but not as their last game! PLEASE!

na, i like the odd turned based strategy game, but i hate rts games, all that stressful scrolling, if its not on screen i don't want to know, plus i find they defy immersion and atmosphere, just by using the god perspective.

I don't like RTS games either. I always end up micro-managing everything because the AI invariably sucks and my troops don't do what they should, unless I drag them every step of the way. The result is usually very little fun and a lot of frustration. Though I guess it's possible Bethesda would manage to do for RTS what they did for RPG and come up with the new standard of top quality.

I absolutely love RTS games, they proper drag me in... the amount of time I have spent playing Age of Mythology is just madness. If they made a TES RTS I would be over the moon... they have enough races, lore and creative thinking to make it something special indeed.

If it's just a side project, then yes. If it's done good, then yes. If it's just a side story, then yes.

I was just thinking about exactly this on my paper-round this morning, I thought it was quite a cool idea, and I was about to post it on the forums, then I noticed this thread. I was thinking the game could be called TES Battles: Aldmeris. Or something like that. I was thinking the game could be something like Dawn of War where you could construct buildings, these buildings would help you create soldiers and so on, then you could upgrade the buildings with resources you gain in the campaign and in battles. In the campaign you would fight as the Empire, but there could be an online multiplayer where you could play as the Empire, Aldmeri Dominion, Kingdom of Morrowind and something to do with the Beastmen.
