Just teasing, I have always liked Ald'ruhn myself too, particularly as the bug-like structures felt to be particularly Dunmeri and unique, as did the atmosphere and the near constant ashstorms, in fact I really liked the entire art direction as far as architecture in Morrowind.

My top two would be Balmora and Sadrith Mora. Balmora have simple houses and Sadrith Mora have those cute mushroom houses. Crab shells doesn't appeal to me so I don't like Ald'ruhn.
Re: Favourite City/Township
Ald'ruhn is actually 2nd on my list. I always adored how that city looked.

Re: Favourite City/Township
Ald'ruhn, without question. Now if only I could find a good house to put all my stuff there, except that whatever manor from a mod that I don't like because it's WAAY too big and square. The Redoran houses might not look like much from the outside (I like the look actually), but the interior is prettier than anything I've seen in any ES game, up to Skyrim now. And I always end up in Redoran, even if I create a character to play Hlaalu or Telvanni, I either abandon them out of boredom or join Redoran before I realize what I did XD
I love Vivec too, my only problem with it is that it's hard to travel OUT from there, you have to walk for minutes to get to the transports. Even then, I usually set up a secondary base in St.Delyn, just because
I remember almost crying with frustration when I first went there though, I have a nasty habit of getting lost in dungeons and Vivec looks like one, of the worst type, heh. I can navigate it with my eyes closed now...

Go try Morvayn Manor in Ald'ruhn.
I'm sure it'll be fun.

Re: Favourite City/Township
My vote goes for Sadrith Mora. I have always loved the Telvanni architecture and their somewhat "finders keepers" way of life. (Example: If you kill or steal from a fellow Telvanni and live, then apparently your argument had more merit. Also, they often just kill the person a rank ahead of them to get to that higher rank.) I was also intrigued by they're sort of, mysterious, and secluded ways.
Yes, when I first started playing Morrowind, I was in love with Balmora. Everything I needed seemed to be a hop, skip, and a jump away! Then I decided to take a hike out east... Well that VERY easily changed my mind. The exquisite mushroom cities and massive root walkways blew me away.
Therefore, almost every character from then on was Telvanni! I just could not get away from these stunning cities! I would just walk around Sadrith Mora, or The Stronghold awestruck in its natural allure!

Re: Favourite City/Township
I really don't like Vivec - the cantons are really cool and the first time I saw the city my jaw dropped a little, but on the inside they all look pretty much the same and it takes forever to get anywhere for a low-level character (as in - the one who can't easily Levitate/Slowfall between levels and different cantons). By the time I can move around easily I'm so annoyed with the place that I want to avoid it as much as possible.
I don't like Telvanni architecture either - at least not from the inside, because from the outside those towers look awesome. I don't know, I have to play a Telvanni character one day, maybe I'll change my mind.
In the end I have to say Balmora. Travel hub (that's the most important point for me), shops and guildhalls all in one place, and Hlaalo Manor to live in. I'm a noob though, so that may change. Especially since I decided to actually RP with my next character and not just cheerfully hack my way through everything I can lay my hands on.
She is one tough lady, but I can't see her living in a house with a dead body used as a glorified coathanger and a scared servant stuck in the room upstairs...

And the beauty of it is that because it has so many Cantons, Bethesda could make it an open city, and still get around the loading issue by having different cells. Clever huh

I guess it is. But it's still a long walk from Foreign Quarters to Temple. Which is not cool.

Which is why we have Gondoliers!
I think, for what it is, it was pretty clever, just in terms of making the most of the technology in an inventive manner, but hey, I'm totally and completely a Balmora man, so don't mind my ramblings about Vivec.

Re: Favourite City/Township
I have to memorize where everything is in Vivec, and it gives me a headache from trying. The Gondoliers are still hard to find for me, and the interior of the cantons are confusing. I like it when everything is packed into a moderate city, not spaced out like in Vivec. In Balmora, you don't have to walk as far to get to a service. That's just a factor of why Balmora's awesome. Plus it's Hlaalu.
My ramblings are nonsense, I guess.

And actually, the maze-like aspect of Vivec is sort of what entertains me about the place. It would be great to live there, but it's a nightmare to visit, I have to say. I'm still sticking to Ald'ruhn!

Yay! A Gnisis vote - I felt compelled to say that, as I was having doubts about whether Pelagiad would have been a better choice for its own option. Now I feel vindicated

Gnisis and Seyda Neen are underrated. Sure, they aren't as lovable as those other settlements, but they have services and are memorable. Don't know how to put it.

I love Seyda Neen, if not because the people are easy to take advantage of and thus an easy ticket to riches and establishment of self in a harsh new world, for the homely feel and the quaintness of the tiny settlement.
As for Gnisis, it's sort of Empire meets Dunmer, with Redoran architecture and a strong Legion presence as a, somewhat, pleasant result of the lease agreement.

I like Gnisis because it has a blend of almost every culture in Morrowind. Its got Ashlanders, Redoran, Indoril Guards, Market places, Imperials, ORC imperials, Telvanni, Miners, commoners, and a guy with no pants.

Sadrith Mora without a doubt, it's got everything you need in terms of shops and transport.
I love the islands for starters, island hoping is on e of the most entertaining games and it really raises the alteration and acrobatics skill ridiculously fast. Not only that but they contain a lot of hidden secrets, so dungeon diving and exploring is very fun indeed.
I also adore the Telvanni architecture, giant mushrooms for houses and towers is just such a cool concept. Balamora is so basic compared to it, and don't even get me started on the legion buildings.
One of the best things is it's location, the west side of Vvanderfell trumps the rest of the island in my opinion. It's dangerous sure, but there are so many caves and shrines up in those mountains, on those islands and in the grasslands that it is more then worth it.

I like Sadrith Mora and Vivec. Vivec is cool with its canals and underworks, and I liked the fact the Morag Tong guildhouse was I like Sadrith Mora because of the crazy Telvanni architecture and the fact that the city seems to feel like it encompasses the entire bay area.

I've always felt mysteriously about Gnisis, more than any other city. It seems like a place where work gets done. Its very atmospheric to me for whatever reason, and that why I like it the best.

I would have to say Pelagiad. It's small and quaint, and the first time I ever went there the sun was setting and made it seem so beautiful.
