DAMN YOU LYDIA!
So, I was at the top of the world, and I planned to *ahem*, strengthen Lydia's bones. I planned to do this by using unrelenting force to fling her off the mountainside. I used the shout, then scaled the icy rocks to the foot of the mountain. And guess what. I saw Lydia, standing upright, awaighting her next command from her noble thane.
I ask you, how did she survive!? Can anyone explain this!?

Glitch. Or maybe she's dead and the game made her corpse stand up. Wow this makes her even creepier.

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
I killed her with my sword, and then she just lay on the floor, hovering a few inches in a geostationary fix with the ground, and was straight as a plank. She was unlootable. She wasn't dead after I flung her down the mountain. I could converse and give orders to her.Yomnom wrote:Glitch. Or maybe she's dead and the game made her corpse stand up. Lydia can be hit by a giant's club, fly several hundred meters into the air, come crashing down at terminal velocity, bounce three times and just get up and dust herself off like nothing happened.

On topic: Your Lydia must be a fair bit tougher than mine. I FUS RO DAH'd her off a bridge, she went about 50 feet total before hitting a rock, bouncing off and hitting another rock, and she was nearly dead when she finished swimming to land. Does she level with you or something?

My Lydia died at the hands of some vile Falmer. Every single follower I've ever had has died.

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
My Lydia got stuck in the maze in some ruins (the one with 4 mage staves at the start), she literally wouldn't leave, even if directed to go to particular spots, she would keep running farther into the maze. I took all her toys (full epic dwarven plate and a badass bow at the time), told her to part ways, she said "I'll be at home if you need me." and I didn't see her for about 6 months of in-game time. One day, I'm dropping a ton of loot into my chests in whiterun, turn around to leave my bedroom (I store my dragon priest masks up there), and BOOM! There she is, sitting in a chair...
J'Zargo in his full legendary Daedric armor and I left her sitting there. She's useless.
On a side note, my 5yr old son keeps asking me "Daddy, can you FUS Lydia off of the cliff again?" XD

Borgakh's the only follower I've used that was ever any good.
OT; I thought the rule was that followers couldn't be "one-shot", because when they hit 1 health they go into the downed state?
That's what I'd guess happened.

I don't know, I managed to one-shot Erandur with a bow once. He just charged suddenly in front of me, and bammm. Reloaded... >.>
But I suppose I'm pretty deadly with a bow, maybe if the hit is more than their actual HP then it will kill them? He was at full health and we only started the fight...

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
I've never had a follower die that I didn't kill, accidentally or otherwise, or that didn't get hit with an AoE attack (mine or NPC's). As far as I have seen, when they get low on health, they take a knee and suck their thumb for a few minutes and all NPC's stop attacking them and go for me. They don't die until I say so!

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
They can be killed by strong poisons that do more DoT than they regenerate after being downed, aswell. [Like Chaurus]
Or; They're low enough to be one hit from being downed, but two enemies attack simultaneously. The more enemies the more likely that is to happen.
I've never one-shot a follower, but then I haven't gotten around to actually trying to kill them yet.
I have, plenty of times, hit them by accident in a fight when they had less than full health and they got downed.
Could've been some mathematical coincidence that I left them with a small enough amount for them to fall down, I guess.

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
On the topic of followers, is it possible to make them wear other biys of armour?

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
If I'm understanding your question correctly, yes you can. If you give them a piece of armour that is better than their (invisible in the inventory) default armour, they will wear it instead. The Silent Striker wrote:On the topic of followers, is it possible to make them wear other biys of armour?
Both my Lydia and Iona have some Orcish stuff on at the moment.

Lydia - always in the way, disappears when she sees a dragon, actually disappears often when things get ugly, and hangs out in your room which maybe is ok if you're a guy.
She didn't leave when I told her to go home so I disabled her.

My Lydia died to a giant's club, and I never ever found her corpse. I lost 50 vegetable soups.
If they weren't nords, but instead dunmer or redguards, nobody would call them "racist".

I...I can't imagine how you went on with life. Loss of life is brutal, but loss of soup is devastating. My condolences, you poor soul.Iaius Amaius Heron wrote:I lost 50 vegetable soups.
Thankfully my soup and homemade meals are intact. Lydia never died adventuring with me, and so far the only follower that perished while with me was Belrand during the daedric quest for the Ebony mail. Of course there have been hundreds of close calls with all of my followers.

To the OP, I think your Lydia didn't die because you weren't the one who TECHNICALLY did the damage. The ground did. And as a general rule, unless you're the one laying down the pain, your followers will brush whatever happened off, and go about their business as if it was an average Tuesday.
Of course, if they take repeated damage during their "kneeling" pose, they'll die, but the sudden impact of the ground doesn't do multiple hits (unless they launch off a rock and get some good air time, which would be epically hilarious.)
Oh for the love of little green tomatoes...

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Re: DAMN YOU LYDIA!
My Lydia had survived it all. 10 minute fire stream from a dragon, 20 stormcloaks bludgeoning her and of course the occasional giant camp. But as she knelt down from too much invinnsibilty, I mistook her as a stormcloak. And one shot from an iron arrow sent her flying to her death. I'm guessing she is ruining someone else's sneak attack in sovngarde now.
