This is the game of lies, the game of deceit, and the game of betrayal. Mephala's game, her deception... Her Web.
Camlorn, in High Rock, is as close to perfect as a place can be. In the Royal Castle, wealth, comfort, and happiness all thrive, from the King himself to the lowliest servant.
Perhaps that's why it was chosen by the Lady of Silk. The trust and truth must have been one of the most alluring targets in all of Tamriel.
But, how is one to know? It is impossible to discern Mephala's motives. Only one thing is certain... Castle Camlorn has been chosen.
Mephala's Web is an RP based not on loyalty, friendship, and honourable combat, but on lies, intrigues, affairs and betrayals. In fact, there will be no combat whatsoever. In many ways, it is similar to the Molag Bal game. You shall create a character, a denizen of the castle, from a list of archetypes. You will be free to play with these archetypes as much as you want... But you must choose one , unless there is something you want that you think should be on the list. In that case, PM me. As the game starts, you will be PMed two names... One will be a fellow player. For reasons of your own, your character despises the character of another player. It is your objective to bring total ruin to that player, not through violence, but by playing to their loves, fears, passions and desires. You will also be PMed the name of a character you love... whether romantically or sexually, fatherly or motherly, brotherly or sisterly. Even respect or pity. Your objective is to try to make life easier for this other player, and protect them from harm. However, both of these secret passions must remain a secret. If you wish to do something secretly, PM the result of your activity to me and I will post it. For example, you would do this if you wanted to plant one player's underwear in another's quarters.
DA RULES:
1. No godmodding.
2. Proper grammar, or don't join.
3. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. They will be denied. Simple as that.
4. Speaking of which, I reserve the right to deny or kick anyone for any reason.
5. If you give away your cards, in PMs or other threads, you will be kicked.
6. 1 character per person.
7. PM your characters to me for confirmation, and recommended changes.
8. Have fun backstabbing...
If you read the rules, include the phrase Varsa Baliim somewhere in your initial post.
Dramatis Personae The King, Lord Jaekar Brand II~ Camlorn's middle aged King. Well known for his swift mind and swifter sword arm. Under his rule, Camlorn has become renowned for fair courts, but severe and immediate punishment. He is often called Jaekar the Jealous, because of his eternal suspicions of his Nordic wife. The Queen, Lady Agga {Karthwater} Brand~ The King's 29 year old Queen, youngest daughter of a prominent Haafinheim noble. Tall, golden haired and beautiful, still smooth and red of cheek and ever fiery of eye. She is known for her generosity with her wealth... And rumoured for her generosity with her charms. The rumors of her infidelity are fuelled by her jolly nature, and her distance from her colder, older husband. She brought several nordic traditions, such as the Thane and Housecarl, to Camlorn. The Prince, Lord Ippolit Brand~ The King's son, and heir to the throne. He is the very image of the stereotypical prince Charming, with his shining breastplate and flowing blonde hair and delicate features. He is the fantasy of every woman from Wayrest to Daggerfall. He is known throughout the Empire for his deeds of heroism and chivalry. What the tales don't speak of are his utter stupidity, his pettiness, and his uniquely blatant idiocy. The Princess, Arina Brand~ The King's daughter. Young, beautiful, cultured and elegant, she has long, flowing black curls and lively blue eyes. Common gossip says she wasn't the King's daughter, but a [&@%!] born of an Imperial bard who had passed through the castle 18 years before.
YOUR CHARACTER
It is important to know that no part of the RP will take place outside of Castle Camlorn's walls. Your character must be an inhabitant of the castle, and they must adhere to one of the following professional archetypes... Unless you PM me another suggestion and I approve. For god's sake, have as many passions, fears, likes and dislikes as you can. Without flaws, the RP will die inevitably.

Sex: Male
Race: Breton
Profession: Chancellor
Appearance: Tall and handsome, the middle aged Chancellor commands respect simply by walking into a room. The Breton man has fair skin and icy blue eyes that cut into his target when he glares at them. He has long, extremely thick dark brown hair swept behind his shoulders. He has a thin goatee and mustache that add to his regal appearance. Gregoire has a flowing black and dark purple robe that brushes the floor, always giving him the appearance of floating instead of walking. He uses a solid golden staff that has a large blue diamond at its tip as a walking stick.
Fears: The powerful man is not open about his fears, which is why he hides his largest irrational fear: he absolutely can’t stand blood and gore. It will make him faint if he is exposed to it too much. This is the reason Gregoire is never present at the executions… that he orders.
The Chancellor lives a lavish life in the castle because he has a fear of death. Things like drowning, being trapped somewhere and starving to death, death by fire, and death by falling off a balcony are all constant nightmares of Chancellor Garnier.
Dislikes: The Chancellor is a very orderly man which is why he is Chancellor, commander of the law. He hates criminals, crimes of any kind, thugs and mercenaries, and immoral things such as promiscuity, excessive gambling or drinking, and adultery.
Likes: Gregoire Garnier is a very refined man. He prefers the finest of wines, the most wonderful clothes, and the most expensive imported foods. He only associates with the most noble and wealthy people.
Passions: To put it simply, the kingdom. Whenever the king shows signs of lacking in his duties, Chancellor Garnier swoops in and attempts to take over the situation.
Gregoire loves wines. He owns a vault under the castle where all of his finest wines are stored, surely worth hundreds of thousands of gold. He keeps it extremely secure and only him and the King (By law) carries a key to the vault.
Gregoire also has a passion for antiques. He collects fine artifacts and famous weapons, but never uses them (Due to his phobia of blood). In his grand chambers, he had well over two million gold worth in ancient Ayleid, Falmer, early human, and Dwemer artifacts, and even some Daedric Artifacts such as the Spell Breaker and Wabbajack.
Personality: Gregoire can be very arrogant and snooty. Oftentimes, though, he isn't even aware he is being so. Gregoire is a natural figure of authority and is very commanding. He is loyal to the king, officially, but secretly would prefer it if he was King (He's only a small step away, to be honest). He fiercely protects the finer things in his life, going so far as to assign guards to the most minor things he owns. Usually Gregoire is very charming and pleasant; A natural politician. This of course means he is used to telling lies casually. Gregoire has a low opinion of the Prince and Princess.
Gregoire is not a complete bad person, however. He can be quite amiable to people he chooses to like. Of course, that person has to have something he wants or can use, but that's just how life works for Gregoire.

Appearance: Faralen is short and slender, a fitting example of a typical Bosmer. She has a head full of bright red hair that she keeps in a neat bun atop her head and a face that is lined with fiery freckles across her rosy cheeks and tiny nose. She is very rarely seen in anything other than her long, swooshing skirts and the caramel colored robe she often wears when creating potions. Though she may not often say much, she walks with a particularly beautiful and simple elegance, her steps small and calculated, her head held high and bright green eyes wide and alert. She is by no means out of place within the castle.
Personality: Faralen is kind hearted but painfully quiet and shy, often prone to stuttering when frustrated or suddenly thrown into the center of attention. She often keeps to herself but is an avid listener, capable of remembering an impressive amount of details, and her hearing is keen. Her alchemy skills, however, have never been a question, as she is quite proficient and skilled at what she does for the royal family.
Passions: Gardening, cooking, and letter writing
Fears: Faralen has a horrible, debilitating fear of arguments. Upon being yelled at she is prone to breaking down into tears, rendering her quite useless until she recovers - which takes a painfully long time and several dozen handkerchiefs. He possesses plain but simply handsome features, wavy dark blonde hair down to his chin, a slightly tan complexion, and dull green eyes. He dresses modestly. Overall, he appears unnassuming but attractive, despite his at times questionable personal hygiene.
Personality: Borim is kind and well-meaning, but odd, and to some annoying. He eats and sleeps in the library, and studies its many texts for days on end, his love for books and desire to learn neverending. Borim's social interactions usually go smoothly, as he is friendly and
courteous. He is also blunt and unapologetic when it comes to his views, though, and this sometimes causes him to butt heads with more arrogant and short-tempered people. He has read extensively on
philosophy and ethics, and he finds the use of physical violence and the consumption of meat barbaric. He cares not what others think of him.
Dislikes: Politics (despite deeply studying the topic), people who are too concerned with money, violence, arrogance, poverty, meat, bathing

Ohmigod me wants in! I just can't decide what character to employ. Narrowed it down to either Captain of the Guard and King's Housecarl, Noble/Ambassador or Maid/Tavern Wench.
I'd have chosen the grumpy wizard but you don't have that option >.>

Now that Per is Captain of the Guard and King's Housecarl does that mean that role is filled and gone? If so, I guess it makes the decision easier, although I was starting to lean to that role funnily enough. It seems like a very weak and manipulatable position to be in, at least I could see myself building a weak and manipulatable character to fill it
Edit: actually, I have two new ideas, but a question first. Would it be conceivable to take the role of a Noble, but one who acted as a tutor to one of the royal children when they were, children? Additionally, does the Prince have a lover?
I may have asked this before, but I can't remember what you answered. Is it possible to "win" in the way that the game ends?(For example, you manage to have your enemy murdered.) Or will we just keep going forever?
