Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
Well can they damage buildings, I've heard they can attack walled cities so would'nt a dirty great dragon in a city cause some damage? And I mean non scripted events
Thanks

they land on the roofs of buildings, but thats practically their only interaction with buildings.

Re: Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
They can dive down, probably from low health, and create a ripple of soil on the ground, but it will be disappeared eventually. If I'm not mistaken they also can make a crack on the ground too. They won't do a thing to buildings which is fortunate.
Re: Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
I have seen frost and fire on buildings, but fortunately, the fire brigades put them out quickly, and the affected area's get refinished soon after... so no real physical damage, that is lasting.

Maybe they can light a puddle of oil but that's about it. I hid behind timber against one dragon and the flames never lit it up. Me, yes when I was caught in the stream, the wood, no. Buildings etc are graphical boundaries rather than interactable\adjustable objects.

Yes they can, but only in Helgen.

Re: Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
No, all buildings in Skyrim have been built to a strict Dragon-proof Building Code since the time of Pelagius the Mad. Even the shacks and crumbling ruins.
The only time you'll see a dragon destroy something is if it's scripted, and, once you face one down and realize how weak they are, you won't be surprised at their inability to burninate houses.

Because of course, the dragons are weak. Go ahead, laugh at them with your level 3 character, and rush forth to slay their weakness!

The easiest dragon I ever fought was at level three... at least until the next sixty dragons.
Seriously, they should just rename dragons to "mudcrabs".

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

This isn't Crysis. They focused on AI instead of physicsElegost wrote:Well can they damage buildings, I've heard they can attack walled cities so would'nt a dirty great dragon in a city cause some damage? And I mean non scripted events

Ah well thanks guys.
Pandamatak - I understand that but if a Dragon comes into a village it would be sure to scratch a building or two, but I guess Beth can't do everything

Re: Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
Dragons generally do not affect buildings or landscape permanently. If they did, there could be some crazy incident where the world is laid to rubble.

So that epic landslide they create will disappear with time? I only got one of those and I didn't know if I was dead or should I jump or what, but then I managed to get out of the way... That was surprising.
They can't let them damage the buildings, dragons perching on them is good enough. If they did damage, one misplaced dragon attack could permanently mess up your game. Unless it's scripted like Helgen, but that's very hard to implement in all different places in a sandbox.

Re: Can Dragons Destroy/Damage buildings?
Actually, its more than that. Games use different coding tricks to handle "fixed" terrain versus "changeable" terrain. Making pretty much anything destructible would *vastly* increase the processor demand of the game. If you made Skyrim as deformable as, say, Red Faction: Guerilla? It'd probably cause computers to explode.
