Constant Finishers?
I don't know if its one long glitch or some exploit, but for some reason I've lately been getting finisher on every last enemy (NPC) I fight, and earlier in the game I wouldn't. Now personally I don't know about you, but I love this feature. So I was hoping if anyone else knew how exactly this happens or how to semi-exploit. Right now as it stands I know how to always guarantee a finisher on an NPC,( just don't kill them when they fall on their knees and then immediately attack when they get up) however I wanted to know if anyone knows how to do so with other creatures.
I just hate fighting a hard battle with say a giant or centurion and then only have the lackluster power swing to end the fight, it always seems anti-climatic for some reason, and I can say with 100% certainty my OCD will kick in with the final Alduin fight, and Ill save right before hes dead and only continue when I end it with a finisher.

Judging by the actual ending, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to do a finisher with Alduin. It just wouldn't make much sense.

Re: Constant Finishers?
Okay fair enough, however I still would like to now how to get constant finisher on other enemies besides just NPC's, and to Talamare no. My arsenal as it stands is dragon bane(flawless) and an enchanted Skyforge steel great sword(flawless, +10 fire dmg).
Also I had some one say they got a finisher on Alduin, won't he still just do that pose any way after you get one on him.

I've found that I pull off kill moves more often the weaker the enemy is...I think the window of opportunity to pull off a kill move gets wider the more powerful you are in comparison to the enemy...

Re: Constant Finishers?
Yes that is right. Simple "milk drinkers" can be killed with instant finishers almost all the time. I tried this on the farmers around Whiterun. But tougher enemies will take a few more hits before a finisher may occur.Dead Pixel wrote:I've found that I pull off kill moves more often the weaker the enemy is...I think the window of opportunity to pull off a kill move gets wider the more powerful you are in comparison to the enemy...

Re: Constant Finishers?
Are you sure this is true, I've gotten a finisher on a frost dragon before and it was the first time I even faced off agaisnt one.
Or is that luck?

Frost Dragon does not equal Alduin.

Re: Constant Finishers?
It also depends on your level...although the dragons are ranked, the order in which you meet them seems to be a little random.Da_BossMaN69 wrote:Are you sure this is true, I've gotten a finisher on a frost dragon before and it was the first time I even faced off agaisnt one.

For instance, Blood Dragons are weaker than Frost but I met Frost Dragons a number of times before I met a Blood Dragon.
You may have been powerful enough to meet a Frost Dragon but didn't. Then when you did meet one (the one you killed with a killing move) you were powerful enough to insta-kill it...
Just a theory...

I also think that the difficulty level counts too...so if you play on novice you get those instant kills....just saying, i mean no offense.Da_BossMaN69 wrote:Are you sure this is true, I've gotten a finisher on a frost dragon before and it was the first time I even faced off agaisnt one.

Re: Constant Finishers?
I'd like to see a mod that makes finisher kills happen 75% to 100% of the time
.
As for the OP of "How they happen", I notice that the game will not do a finisher if there are other active enemies engaging your character (Probably something to do with devs not wanting people to get killed while doing finisher move because they can't fight while their character is doing the sequence).
Other then that, it seems to have a higher percentage of occurring when you do a final hit that greatly over-kills the enemy. (Paying attention to the rule I posted above) Killing solo enemies with 30x damage sneak attack netted a nearly 99% chance of doing a finisher. But when playing a 1h sword warrior, standard smithed weapon, on master difficulty, which resulted in enemies only taking 5 to 10% damage per hit, I noticed that on the solo kills, finishers were MUCH rarer, maybe 10% of the time, or less.
So, in conclusion, I feel it has something to do with no other mobs being agroed on to your character, as well as how much "overkill" damage your final blow was going to be.
Just from my observations of about 450 hours of gameplay lol.

Re: Constant Finishers?
For finishers it matters a lot how you and the opponent are positioned and what kind of opponent it is.
For example, If you do a stealth back-stab while you and a men/mer target are standing on even ground, you will get a cutthroat animation 100% of the time if the stab is lethal.
If you do it while walking up or down some stairs, you will never see any finisher. There is no finisher if the target is sitting or sleeping either.
There is never any finisher if you stab a bear or a wolf in the back, there is one if you do it from the side I believe.

Re: Constant Finishers?
Very true. I noticed this as well. Sprinting with 1h sword will do a jump stab thing on humanoid creatures(but nothing to a bear), where sword/dagger from behind on humanoid will do throat cut(but not to a wolf), while some types of creatures don't have any / very limited available finishers (I personally haven't seen any on dragon-priest type bosses for example)SuperNull wrote:For finishers it matters a lot how you and the opponent are positioned and what kind of opponent it is.

But when it comes to frequency, I know for a fact that you have a 0% chance to do a finisher with more then 1 mob agroed to you. And it seems very likely that over-kill damage plays a role in finisher move chance. But you are correct 100% in what you're pointing out.

You are so frickn' lucky man. All I want to do is at the end of the day stick my sword through a Falmer's neck. But, alas, this is not possible all the time. I don't know anything about this "glitch", but I envy you.

Ive personally seen back to back finishers when I had 3-4 mobs attacking me
They just stand there watching their buddy die spectacularly
Even if they attack you, you have invulnerable frames

Re: Constant Finishers?
Maybe i wasnt very specific, basically im at level 30, when i found the frost dragon i was 27, my two handed was 58-63, i randomly tapped the right trigger after he had 2-6% of his health, this was my 3rd dragon finisher (the 2handed sword one, i did a battle-axe one though before tht was pretty sick)
I think my game might naturally be buggy, mirmulnir was a blood dragon for me, even though I was level 12, easily the hardest fight I've had in the game. Oddly enough it happened to my friend after i lent him my disc. So maybe my game is buggy, almost in a good/fun way?
