Ultimate Dragon Slayer
I wanted to know how would you create the ultimate dragon slayer.
Things like skills to level, Equipment to use, Quests to do early things like that.
Much appreciated

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
A breton in heavy armor, with 70 alteration (30% magic resist), 100 heavy armor, 100 smithing (legendary gear), 100 block and 100 one-handed weapons, the lord stone ( +25% magic resist) then getting ysgramor shield (another 20% magic resist) and dragonbane and atlast do the quest for esbern that reduce dragons melee damage an additional 25%. The perfect warrior dragon slayer with immunity to magic (25% from breton, 30% from alteration, 25% from lord stone, 20% from ysgramors shield) and highest absorbtion from dragon melee damage. All you then need is dragonrend that you can battle your foe on the ground.

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
OR... you can do the bit cheaper version, get the 50% destruction damage resistance from the blocking skill tree, and get the daedric artifact shield that has another 50% ward when blocking. result= no fire or frost breath damage from dragons while blocking.
then, do the esbern things trelares described.

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
i have spellbreaker now and will test if it works against dragon breath, but my dragon bashing is more down to tactics than a dragon slayer build (tho i am looking into this as i want to travel alone, so i will keep my eyes on this topic
)
i summon a flame atronarch which harrasses them as they fly around, making them less likely to hover and blast us with breath. My companion also gets stuck in with the decent bow i gave her
so dragon lands, i rush in and poison it with whatever is the opposite to its breath/type, and use that type of shout on it (eg frost dragon gets weakness vs fire poison and fire shout), and dual wield it until it stops moving. The dragon usually gets to fly and land two or three times this way. This tactic has so far worked on all dragon types, i usually only get into difficulty when i am on my own facing a dragon/dragons
another really important thing i have found is when you hear them, find a nearby patch of open space asap so they can land, if there are many dragons, try and go for a patch where only one can land.. if a flying dragon is breathing on you as you melee another, poison the one on the ground so it is vulnerable to the breath coming from above.. make sure you have loads of healing potions and an itchy menu finger as sadly this is still by far the best way of keeping alive, irregardless of your character's stats

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
Magic Resistance and Destruction with the Impact perk is the way to go if you want to take out a dragon fast.
Find a Resist Magic enchanted item and do the Solitude Thane quests to receive a shield with a different Resist Magic enchantment. Enchant a couple pieces of apparel with both enchantments to make you immune to dragon breath.
Dual cast fireballs, ice spears or lightning bolts.
If done right you can often take out the dragon before it gets the chance to breathe on you.

Magic Resistance: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Resist_Magic
From what I have read, and seen, using Absorb Magic(ka), Resist Magic, and Resist Elements, they do work togeather, but do not stack. It does reduce it quite a bit, but you do still recieve damage from Dragon Breath Attacks.
Lets say I have the Atronach Stone, and Atronach Perk from Alteration for 80%.
Then I max Resist Magic to 85%.
Then I get the Elemental Protection Perk from Block.
If an Ancient Dragon has 300 points of Fire Breath Attack Damage (not sure what it actually is) it gets reduded like so:
300 - 80% = 60
60 - 85% = 9
9 - 50% = 4.5
Not much Damage, but it is still not Total Immunity. Just saying that you can not count on Magic Resistance alone, it takes all three to get the maximum Dragon Breath Protections. Just Magic Resistance alone, against 300 points of Fire Breath, means you will take 45 points of damage, even if you have 100% Resist Magic.
This means: Do not put all of your Perks and/or Enchantments to get 100% Resist Magic. Use them wisely, to get the most benifit out of them, and to not waste them when it will not benifit you further.
Yes, you can use Resist Elements, like from the Block Perk Tree (50%), or enchantments, or Atronach, to redue the damage even more. However, this still does not give you total immunity.Resist Magic gives the target <mag>% reduction in the damage inflicted by offensive spells. Resist Magic is capped at 85%, i.e. you can not gain magic immunity.

I just summon two dremora lords. Then I sit back while sipping my lemonade and laugh as they call the dragon a weakling and slash it to death lol.

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
Depends on the dragon level^^ @ SirMonz. An ancient dragon can eat my 2 dremora lords with about 2-4 bits on each, but with master level destruction you get your dragon buster, just let your dremora lords loose on the dragon charge up Lightning Storm and roast the dragon before he even has the chance to kill your followers.

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
True, but I have 100% magicka reduction for conjuration. So I just cast them again once they die. Sometimes I'll cast destruction from a distance if it is an elder dragon and they are having trouble.

Re: Ultimate Dragon Slayer
Of course Spellbreaker works against a dragon's breath attack. Wards can block them (Wards can, in fact, block all shouts) and thus so can Spellbreaker.

Marked for death shout (once or twice, it stacks)
Dragonbane(legendary)
