As I understand it there are two opposing forces within the ES universe Padomay & Anu chaos & stasis in their respective order. Creation seems to be a situation arisen from Anuic sources. Which I find strange given that creation itself is a chaotic system. I know about Lorkan who's padomaic in origin & tricked the Anuic gods in to bringing about the creation of Nirn. I wanted to discuss this in a more fundamental way.
In most real world faiths in regard to chaos & form (stasis), as opposed to the good vs evil ones. It takes a balance between these opposing forces to bring about life/creation, mainly because life is a constant tipping of the balance or struggle between these forces. I was wondering what thoughts you (ES enthusiasts) might have on this possible contradiction.
If any moderators believe this should discussion belongs in 'Lore' I'm perfectly ok with it being moved.

Re: The origins of creation within the ES
As someone with an oxymoronic username, I will submit the notion that balance between chaos and order in neccessary for vitality— the enduring dominance of one over the other is detrimental to the whole.
But balance has no potential if the two happen to cancel each other out: where you have a portrait of greys instead of one made of black, white, and everything in between.
You can't see if everything is plunged in darkness. And you can't see if all the light passes clean through everything.
Light is an external grace, and Shadow is a manifestation of internal substance. Knowledge is what you get when the two interact to reveal the world around.
But they are separate, and they are opposite. And they need to be so, in order to work.

Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Interesting points. Do you believe that my perception that the Elder Scrolls uses this concept incorrectly to be the case. Are they using the concepts in a radical & new way.

Re: The origins of creation within the ES
The Elder Scrolls lore between Padomay and Anu does paint us the misconception of Chaos=Destruction & Order=Creation.
But they also presented us Sheogorath vs Jyggalag in the story of the Shivering Isles, where Order was the destructive force: the equivalent of sterility and death.
Embrace these two situation as both being mistakes, and one may arrive at the hypothesis that Order is not the end-all means to either Creation nor Destruction, and the same said of Chaos.
It's easy then to arrive to the conclusion that either force is capable of either result.
Creation and Destruction exists inside the dance, not within the dancers. There's another element necessary, then: Time.

Re: The origins of creation within the ES
Surely the implication is that without the two forces competing against each other existence would with enter in to a state of entropy or dissolve in to an incohesive mess. Even in the physics of the subatomic universe we see forces trying to pull matter apart & the forces binding it together.
The last paragraph reminds me of an old saying. The battle between good & evil is fought in the hearts of men (I know irrelevant to the thread, but I've always seen a truth in it)

Re: The origins of creation within the ES
I submit that there is no dichotomy— the equation doesn't move with just the two. 'Time' is the third factor, the one which brings everything to action. The question may be derived from what the world has been, or what the world now is. But the answer lies in what will come to to be.

As in most things the truth only becomes apparent with the passing of time.
