Favorite Console Codes

Post by DorostheConqueror »

Fellow members of the PC Master Race, since Steam doesn't want us to have the CK, we're having to make do with texture replacers, ini tweaks, and, of course, console codes. There seems to be a general lack of discussion on just how wonderful and amazing console codes are, so here's a thread to do just that. What's your favorite console code? Do you use them a lot, or only a little? Use 'em to cheat, or just for fun?

Me, I've been screwing around with the "setgs fJumpHeightMin" code. Values of less than a thousand are usually pretty reasonable, but man oh man is it fun to set your jump to 50000000 or so! Unfortunately, this code seems to only really affect one's vertical jumping ability; cross-country leaps, a staple from Morrowind, do not seem to be possible. Steering your character as he plummets back to Nirn can give you a bit of horizontal momentum, but it's not much.

The "moveto" command has helped me a lot with minor glitches, like Lydia not following me, or (when combined with "tcl") it let me bypass a glitch in one dungeon where a door was supposed to open for me, Lydia, and an NPC, but it didn't.

tfc 1 for screenshots. So glad that they put this in. And then of course TM to get rid of the UI to take a picture.

Also tcl, just an over all glitch fixer for getting stuck in rocks and what not.

playerenchantitem I love giving my character completely overpowered gear.

Combined with player.setav enchanting 1000 I have given my character gear that fortifies sneaking, pickpocket and one-handed to 1000% :D

setscale #...so I can make myself larger than "normal" size if I want to, because who wants to be the hero of legend and just look like an average schlub...or I can make myself tiny to get out of stupid situations where I get stuck. (Actually I haven't tried that yet, but I assume it would work.)

Actually, I'm naming this one mostly because I don't remember any other console codes off the top of my head. I've used a few others, sparingly, like making my wife eligible and retrieving my missing follower a few times.

Tcl . Running in the sky like a boss.

At the entrance a Fish Speaker stooped and whispered to another: <<God is upset?>>
Her companion replied: <<The sins of the world is likely to disturb even a god.>>
Leto listened them and wept silently.

Tgm. Due to several reasons, some medical, I struggle with real-time fighting, especially against multiple opponents. God mode just makes it so that I can enjoy exploring and roleplaying without worrying about the fights.

The only one I use is CoC <location> as there have been a few points where i get completely stuck or NEED to be somewhere else for some other reason. The two most recent were...

Got Fus-Ro-Dah'd behind a bookshelf by a Draugr Deathlord and couldn't get back out.
Spoiler:
While I was doing the quest line to stop Queen Potema's resurrection, after I had killed the 3 waves of draugr, my game would crash. Every time. I tried adjusting my graphics down, and the other standard tricks, but it crashed every time. So as soon as I killed the last one, i just CoC away and ran back through the dungeon after her little lightning display had ended

fov. easily.
I read somewhere that it should stay when you save/load, but it doesn't for me. I have to set it every time I start Skyrim.

Can't stand the normal FOV, not on a reasonably large screen anyway.

My favorite console commands? Well, if I had a computer that could run Skyrim, I'd know more commands, but so far, my favorite is TCL, the "swiss-army knife" of the console commands.

Of course, the console commands that make things like this happen are great, too.

I like "tfc", it gives you an out of body experience so you can explore anywhere.

I type the following reasonably often:

prid 19df7
moveto player

I am not going to say how much is due to terrain errors and how much is due to my general impatience :)

I have also started taking more pictures so:

I try to not use the console, but I do find myself TCL'ing when I make my way to a difficult-to-reach location and a corpse with good-looking loot goes falling down the mountain side and I don't want to have to climb all the way back up

tfc 1, and tm for super mega cool screenshots.

And setting setscale to 0.65 = curiously muscular man-child. Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?

I really like to decorate my home(s) but when I can't bother to look for items like flower baskets and the like I "coc qasmoke" and take what I need from there. Also I wanted Psijic Robes and the Wedding Dress, so I took them from there :]
