Let's take a minute to look back and lawl.
When skyrim was first announced, before the first trailer was released, conspiracy theories about skyrim ran wild among uesp. Let's take this time to look back and lawl at them!
For me, there are two that stick out the most.
One being the inability to create your own character
Two being that random misleading footage of nehrim that was titled "skyrim" yet people fell for it.
Many people did not know abut eurogamer and so stated skyrim would never be released.

I remember way back when, when Bethesda trademarked "Skyrim."
I also thought it was funny in that thread where we were all debating if that meaningless thief in Bleak Falls Barrow was a goblin or a Dark Elf, or a skinny orc.
I thought it was a goblin
Good times.

Well Wolfie we were both sort of right. I did say that Alduin was a manifestation of Akatosh, and if he really is the 'son' of Akatosh, that's a manifestation of sorts, although granted, not the one I was expecting (nor hoping for to be honest, I would have preferred it if they were the same entity, would have been an awesome twist to see true Nordic culture at a polar opposite to Cyrodiilic as far as their interpretation of time).
But you can take credit, I'll give you that
I was arguing that it couldn't have been a Goblin

What I remember most is a lot of people thinking that Bethesda had learned from their errors in Oblivion, and how much time Bethesda had available to them to develop Skyrim, thus expecting Skyrim to be polished and bug-free.

Also those numerous threads where people were speculating if you would become the emperor because you are dragonborn. I remember pointing out that we are going to be in Skyrim, NOT Cyrodiil, where you know... the palace is.
Well, no one thought it was going to be bug-free. And for the most part they did improve upon their previous errors.Evil i wrote:What I remember most is a lot of people thinking that Bethesda had learned from their errors in Oblivion, and how much time Bethesda had available to them to develop Skyrim, thus expecting Skyrim to be polished and bug-free.

I remember when I agreed (mostly in joke) that Alduin's plan was to set the moon on fire...

I, for one, have always been a cynic. I will say that I remember vowing "I'm not gonna be one of those complainy-pants Morrowind-fans who refuses to find nice things to say"; that didn't last long, but it was a nice thought at the time.
No, they compounded their errors. They improved upon their successes. In general, what Oblivion got right, Skyrim got more right. What Oblivion got wrong, Skyrim got more wrong. There are exceptions, of course- Oblivion's size has been toned down, which sucks, but at least they decided to revive ONE good Morrowind skill (Enchanting)... poorly and in such a way that mechanically it's actually worse now than it was in Oblivion, but still, it's a skill again, so yay Skyrim? And for the most part they did improve upon their previous errors.

Re: Let's take a minute to look back and lawl.
to me the major problem with oblivion was how unreedemably bland the worldspace was, that was skyrims big accomplishment! and in some ways they did better than morrowind in regards to crafting a lovely worldspace!DorostheConqueror wrote:HA!Evil-i wrote:What I remember most is a lot of people thinking that Bethesda had learned from their errors in Oblivion, and how much time Bethesda had available to them to develop Skyrim, thus expecting Skyrim to be polished and bug-free.

Overall I was happy with all the crafting systems of skyrim, they are simpler but more understandable, but I would like to see some of the more superflous features brought back in . . . and weapon damage I would like to see returnedand integrated into the smithing system, no repair hammers on the go though
and I would actualyl like to see no mobile crafting, and no crafting stations in dungeons, you prepare BEFORE you go dungeon diving, it is more realistic and kidna cool
as for stuffconverning lawls back in time, most people got mad when I pointed out the book only discussed akatosh and alduins as euqivelents from different cultures
alot of people realyl didnt like the idea they were different
im dumb

That's a broad-stroke statement and not based in facts, maybe just your opinion.DorostheConqueror wrote:No, they compounded their errors. They improved upon their successes. Oblivion's leveling system was terrible and required 3rd party mod to make it half-way decent. Skyrim lets you focus on playing your character, with the skills that you want, building through action, instead of monotonous point counting.
I found enchanting to be much better in Skyrim. Sometimes more does not = better. Skyrim enchanting is simple and to the point. The only problem I see with it is balancing it's power. There shouldn't be any +enchanting, smithing or Alchemy gear/potions in the game. This would allow the character to improve via enchanting or smithing, but not stack them all in a way that makes 50000 damage daggers.
The feeling my friends and I get from skyrim is that they took what was lame from Marrowind / Oblivion, and either removed it, or fixed it. And the things that made Oblivion / Marrowind great, they improved upon or kept the same.
So, you have your opinion, yes. You might have preferred the the way the other games did things, but remember that's your opinion, one which many others don't agree with.
Not to mention that Skyrim is by far the most polished game the company has ever released, and makes the release quality of oblivion look like garbage.

I'm somewhat surprised no one said this yet...
Every thinking that TES: V would be in Summerset Isles because of those rumors in Oblivion (Though, I guess Summerset does plays a part in Skyrim, kind of...)

Re: Let's take a minute to look back and lawl.
I remember myself giving no attention to all about Skyrim. Until limited-local-shop edition offer landed in my email. It was ~1 month before release. I ordered it and almost forgot abut it. Seriously, I have seen like 2 videos on Youtube before release and I didn't know almost anything about the game itself
But because I own Morrowind and Oblivion, I knew it will be worth it. I started looking for info few days before release, but only a little, I didn't want to spoil anything. And I was quite successful
