I myself agree that the PC the superior in many ways, but not all. Online gaming is superior on the Xbox for instance & better dev support, or the PS3 is the best all rounder & has 3D capabilities practically straight out of the box. The problem is consoles ate static, while PCs keep progressing. When the Xbox 360 came out it cost £200, $300 which is about half the price or even less then the equivalent PC. When the next gen Xbox is released there is a rumour that it will out spec a top end gaming rig, but if your lucky that will only last a year, before the PC catches up.

I can play morrowind, oblvion, and Skyrim and did not need to buy a new thing or upgrade fo each.
