Yes, THE Imperial Helmet. Because there's only one as far as I know. And that's what this thread is about.
Has anyone ever found this helmet anywhere other than Kilkreath Temple, the shrine of Meridia? Big image ahead:
Spoiler:
Credit goes to Godkiller for both the image and the location. Now this helmet is a bit of a mystery -- it can be seen in loading screens that talk about the Empire or the Legion but is never worn by any Legion soldiers, including General Tullius (who has the only unique piece of Legion equipment) you encounter alive. In Kilkreath Temple, this helmet is found next to the desecrated corpse of an Imperial soldier. If this is the only location where it can be found then we're dealing with a unique piece of equipment, which should, of course, deserve a place somewhere on the wiki. But I don't know this for sure. So has anyone found it anywhere else?
And yes, the helmet is simply named Imperial Helmet.
I remember seeing it before, and I've never been to Kilkreath Temple. all I remember is that is was near a boss bandit or imperial. It might have been in his inventory, but he wasn't wearing it. Either way, there is another place to find it. Sorry, I just cant remember, but I did see the exact same helmet in your picture there.
I didn't think it was special or anything. I'm a stormcloak, so I thought those were common for imperials.

Let me tell you, it's not common. Not even Legates wear these helmets. Thank you for the information though.
And a Thieves Guild quest? Could you tell me which one?
the third (or fourth?) one, where you have to follow the argonian Gulum-Ei. In the last room where you meet him, the helmet should be on one of the shelves around.

There's one in the East Empire trading company warehouse, one for the meridia quest, and also one south east of Riften at a Talos shrine. I like the look of the Oblivion style "Imperial horseman" helmet. Made me think of what would happen if someone made a Cyrodillic imports mod.
In the Rift mountains, in a valley west of the Karth if I remember correctly, I found a small stone cairn with an Imperial sword stuck in it, this helmet on top of the sword, and several purple mountain flowers strewn around the bottom of the cairn. It was so random and striking.
Interesting how you can find this helmet strewn around Skyrim but is very rarely (or perhaps never) worn by Imperial soldiers. Thanks for all the input!

There's a classic manga/anime called Nausicaa, and the very last shot in both versions is the heroine's helmet on top of a sword surrounded by flowers. Wonder if this is a reference to that, or maybe they both reference older legends.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

The tradition of propping a warrior's/soldier's helmet on their sword or rifle at a battlefield grave goes back a looong way in time, predating anime/manga.
My second guess would have been they're both based on older traditions. The flowers specifically remind me of Nausicaa, though, and had significance there as in that fantasy universe normal plants were all but extinct.

Reminds me of the full-sized reaping scythe of Oblivion: the only way it shows up in the game is as a preset piece of decor— you'll never find it in random loot.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
I found this helmet today actually, during the thieves guild quest
Spoiler:
where you get the bottle of mead for the argonian, then you follow him into the east company whatever it is warehouse place. After trailing him there it was on one of the shelves/racks things, in the last little area where you confront him. While looking at the final little area where the argonian guy is, it was on the right on the middle shelve.
I dont know if it was random or what but thats where i found it.
