Could the descriptions on the new Sub-Forums maybe get a slight change:

Skyrim-General
A place to discuss and ask questions about the fifth entry into The Elder Scrolls series and its expansions

Skyrim-Help
Stuck? Need Help? This Forum is for you!

MOD-Skyrim
Discussions and questions about the CSCreation Kit and mods for Skyrim

I'm not entirely convinced we need to separate Skyrim General and Skyrim Help into two sub forums. Why can't we discuss and ask questions in the same place? Maybe its because I'm seeing some dupe topics in the the subforums, but it just seems a bit unnecessary to me. And if it is kept the way it currently is, can we maybe clarify a bit more about what is a help topic and what is a discussion topic, since they seem to be popping up in both forums.

I have seen a fair number of Help threads in the General Section and there have been a number of dupe topics, but I also know that in the last 12 hours, the Skyrim General Section alone grew well over a page.

I know its hard now because of the flooding of new members and with the lag issues for the mods to really stay on top of it, but it just seems like the division either needs to be more firmly established, or it should just be one subforum.

I'm somewhat impartial both ways, but I do think the fact that there are so many new threads popping up is something to be noted when making a decision. On that note, about the suggestion I made earlier:

Any thoughts from the Mod Team/anyone? At the moment they're just copied and pasted from the other Boards, and this might not make the distinction clear enough (although probably not actually an issue)

This is my suggestion. Morrowind and Oblivion both only have the two subforums, so I think it should work for Skyrim. Just allow people to post all general discussion and questions in the General section, and modding topics in the mod section. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

'Nother minor, unimportant request, but could the Other TES Games be moved below Lore and TES General on the Board Index please? They get a lot less traffic, and with the new Skyrim Board it's more noticeable that the Lore and TES General Forums are down the bottom.

Duruza, the way the forums are arranged on the index page have nothing to do with traffic, otherwise General Discussion would be at the top. They have to do with relevance to the site. I personally like the way it is arranged. The index page is neither confusing or too long for anyone to read without an exceptionally good excuse, so rearranging it seems like a moot point to me and not very important at this time.

As for the Skyrim subforums, when we are able to navigate around more quickly we can work on sorting through it. We made the Skyrim help subforum based on suggestions and, personally, I think it works, although it does need a better description of what's help and what's not, or what it helps with. The majority of the problems have nothing to do with description, but with people just not posting help/questions in the Help subforum.

However, we're having a hard time getting around or in the forums, so please be patient.

Re: Forum proposals and questions

Fair enough I guess, I've found that the Forums have just about returned to normal for me as far as loading and such, except for early morning about this time (5-6 am). I just wondered if Lore was not more valuable than the Older Games, particularly with the flood of new Lore established in Skyrim, but who am I to judge value.

As for the descriptions, I make my suggestions not in an attempt to deal with people posting in the wrong place, moving threads is not that time consuming, even on a grand scale, from my experience, it's more about them being incorrect. There is no CS for Skyrim, it's the Creation Kit. Now I might be being a bit of a perfectionist in that regard, but I might as well have mentioned it, even if nothing is done. It doesn't hurt anyone either way, I'm fine if it's left as is.

I think you should add something that tells you if someone is posting or reading on the bar at the bottom.

I want keywords implemented into the "Find a member" thing. It only finds the member if you have the exact username. I want keywords and such!

Example: If I search Frank, then I get a bunch of usernames that have some form or variation of "Frank".

Try the wildcard. I think that works in the member search. Just replace the other parts of a username with an asterisk. For example, if I wanted to search for every username with 'Tom' somewhere in it, I'd type in '*tom*' minus quotes.

Ah, thank you Tom. That works. I was a bit surprised that I came up though, among the list of members that had some form of "tom" in their usernames.

I think the above topic is valuable to players who aren't worried about being faithful to the 'vanilla.' It was closed right away because of the ending comment. While I could agree that "This is only an option for non-console players" would be less inflammatory in potential than the phrase that was used, it's still true. I think that given the community and the understood and horse-beaten issue of PC vs Console that we don't need to be so sensitive; personally I figured it was a tongue-in-cheek jest - the fact of the matter is that as Bethesda has it, the PC is sort of the 'Master Race' with full console and mod abilities versus what they allow (or what consoles allow) for mod-ability.

I think Iaius Amaius Heron dug up some fun and useful info there for some people and I'm sorry to see that it's locked and will inevitably become buried because of it because of one phrase. Could a mod, in theory, simply edit that out? Or ask the OP to edit the topic? It seems like locking it for the community is a bit draconian

It's not a problem, Archea47. I've edited the post and reopened it. I agree it can be informative, I just prefer not for so much nonsense about "master PC races" and what have you. There are some members here who are touchy about the "console wars" subject. Hopefully the OP can keep himself in check and the conversation will be civil - but I know our forum members rarely disappoint. :)

And you can always PM a moderator about reopening threads as well. We will take any legitimate points to mind and are not afraid to give the people what they want, provided it's reasonable.

Discuss away!

I would like to propose that we un-censor the word below:
Spoiler:
Bastard
I really don't think its offensive at all, and dictionary.com doesn't really paint it in an offensive manner either.

Cool. If there's a legit reason for it being censored, I'm fine with that. I have my own beliefs on words, but I understand that there are certain words that are universally considered "bad". I just don't see this as one of them, and thought if it was agreed, we could use it. Thanks for looking into it.

I remember when Lt and I (I think it was Lt ) suggested this too. It seems to be uncensored now (at least I can see it in Scrib's post), but is that just because of the colour trick?

Edit:  nope still censored. Just another point of consideration, the linguistics term with the same stem +isation, could it please also be given some consideration?

I think that's a very reasonable change. We'll give you a verdict fully in a very short time. It's not extremely offensive used in context, and if you use it as an offense we'll simply make you wear the dunce hat.
